If you’d like to give your money to: a misogynistic male that will come into your home, yell at a 9 months pregnant woman in a wheelchair in front of toddler children and then drive off with and then ransom back your property to you go ahead. (beware this guys free estimate he regards it as a HUGE favor he’s doing you. I had no problems with anyone else who came out) And YES I mean MISOGYNIST! While this grown man was yelling at and insulting me, and generally having a tantrum in my kitchen the 1^st gem was «YOU don’t understand math, maybe if your HUSBAND (all his emphasis) were here HE would understand math!» among *several* other things he shouted at me. And the things he said to my husband when there were no «womenfolk» around! I would not ever work with someone like this anymore than I would a racist. Its a page from the same book.
During the initial estimate he did a typical salesman thing of listing separate prices and then a «group» price. Red flag #1 He gave NO written estimate (he told me to write everything on the back of his business card, a physical impossibility for all the things he was listing). When we called him back to look up fabric and get things started, he kept saying how we could «do the fabric later» but I wanted that to be chosen before anything was started also he insists he can come to me for free when we planned to come and bring chairs to him.
Red flag #2 EVERY interaction in person or on the phone he talks about how valuable his time is, how good his work is, and how honest he is.
Red flag #3 Once he gets here he procedes to ask me about other places I looked into and trash them and then is annoyed after about 5 mins of looking at fabrics. He informs me I have to choose fabrics and they will be between about $ 19-​$ 35 a yard and AFTER he calls he’ll call and tell me which they had in stock and how much-​I was NOT comfortable with this. At this point I really did not want to use him after this awful fabric policy and his attitude. But he was in my house and had started loading up the chairs.
###The flags come out: The short version When he finally write out a estimate its over $ 1,000 more than I thought, and when I asked he is VERY annoyed begins a string of rude comments. I say «i think we’ve had a misunderstanding» and he points his finger at my face and says «YOU had a misunderstanding» b/​c you know, this is a guy that wants your business and wants me to hand him $ 1,000+ more without blinking. He should have been clear about the price, sorry the burden of being clear about price is with the businesses. Regardless I was very civil and not upset and he started yelling at me and insulting me, including several disgusting misogynist comments trying to bully me into signing.
# He stole our chairs. He had loaded them up as soon as he got there before anything was settled or signed (a legal no-​no) he then declared that I was wasting HIS VALUABLE time and demanded $ 300 or he wouldn’t unload the chairs. He drove off with our chairs and ransomed them.
