If you like fried fish Willies is the place for you. Light batter, freshest of fish, service was a little iffy the night we were there but our waitress had two guys running her ragged with their all you can eat special. Best hush puppy’s and don’t pass up the onion rings, they’re great. This was our first time but we’ll go back often and try other things. Cold beer, Bud products only and wine.

This is my son’s choice when we have our«Dinner with Dad» event. He loves the catfish. The portions are large and the food is good. The atmosphere is interesting, but in a good way. My youngest loved the gator bites too. We will be going back, I’m sure for the next«Dinner with Dad».

I loved this place when I first walked in … funky charm, great swamp-themed atmosphere, wonderful seafood fragrances wafting around my head. It was pretty busy for 5:30 on a Wednesday, and when I got home with the food, it was clear that Willy’s has it going on. My compadres had the fried clams — they shared! — and I had the catfish Ponchartrain with a creamy crawfish-studded sauce. Man, everything was sooooooo good! I want more. Now.

First time. Very nice, service was exceptional. Ordered shrimp as an appetizer. Not chilled but still warm from the pot and you peel. Iced tea was fresh. Ordered the fried combo with scallops, white fish and mahi-mahi. If you like crispy fried this isn’t it but then there is plenty of seafood flavor not over ridden by grease and breading. Other order was seafood pasta with creole sauce. Had crab, shrimp, scallops and craw fish. Outstanding. Finished off with a nice key lime pie and a mango pie. Not home made but excellent. Would go back with friends.

Great great local food. When in a strange land eat where the locals eat and you can’t go wrong. Charlie was a fantastic waitress. The deep fried oysters, the gator bites and crawfish were awesome. Price was low compared to the level of service and quality of food. This is a must stop for great food and service!

Ask for Mary! She is the best. I loved the atmosphere, being like the only Asian there made me feel special. Joking aside, its not a place for healthy eaters, most of the food is fried or oily. But I don’t care, as I knew that going in. I ordered soft shell crab, gator bites, and catfish! I recommend them all. The food was very good and heavy, I was filled up so quickly. The key lime pie was amazing! But the server«Mary» is what made it all worth it, so friendly and warm, especially being new to town. The prices was normal as well… There was parking, even in the grass, but I am here for the food, not for 5 star experiences. But if I were to choose one, soft shell crab would be the winner! It tasted great.

Went here it has a strong ‘locals’ vibe. Nice folks staff & patrons. Really liked our choices: fried oysters etc. The location literally right next to an active train track was a hoot !!! Place shakes a little when it passes. Willies has a kind of Mayberry feel. Very Americana.

Great meal and having Charlie for our waitress helped us find the really good food. Everything was delicious. Thank you.

Hole in the wall seafood place on a back road near the train tracks in Valrico. The building has been around since the early pioneer days of Florida, which makes for a great, casual atmosphere. Go there for all the varieties of fried fish, all cooked to perfection according its own recipe. The place is not upscale in any way, but if you’re looking for a good plate of well prepared seafood(mostly fried) and friendly wait staff, this is the place to go.

This is the best seafood restaurant I’ve found in Florida. It’s very close to the Calabash style seafood that I grew up with. Very friendly staff. A genuinely unique place.

Nice server, smelled very musty inside– all wood structure in FL is never a good idea. Did feel very clean though. HUGE spider in the enterance, but again. FL all wood building and surrounded by large oak trees. Had all you can eat fish, shrimp, clams, etc. Food was very food — especially white fish. Yum. Kids enjoyed and it’s fun to see the train so close. Will go again.

Service was great and so was the food. The alligator tail appetizer was just as I had read — tender and tasty. I had the broiled scallops and shrimp and it was perfect — served hot and full of flavor. We all really enjoyed the oven potatoes. We’ll be back.

If you’re in the mood for seafood give this place a look. I had deep fried clams and oysters. Wife had grouper sandwich. Onion rings for appetizer. Waitress was friendly and service was prompt.

Food is good. Get there early for a parking spot that isn’t in the weeds. Their gator tail is awesome — tender, soft, and almost melts in your mouth. Probably the best I’ve had in the area considering other places I’ve eaten it serve it tough as shoe leather with a swampy taste. I don’t know what they do at Willies to make it taste as good as it does. Most trips we’ve had were fine. Wait service on the last trip left a little to be desired. Waitress pulled a Houdini as soon as we sat down. By the time she came back, she was slammed with a full section and just started randomly taking orders. We were the first to be seated and he last to even get drinks. The gator tail made up for it.

Came here with a group of friends for some seafood. I ordered the grouper and it was not fresh. I was very disappointed! Others in the party enjoyed their meal.

Restaurants like Willies remind me of my homeland in Tennessee. Down home delicious meals, friendly wait staff and awesome menu choices. The parking lot is always packed and it’s not hard to see why! We had fun trying to name all of the different types of fish they had displayed on their walls!

This place is what Joe’s Crab Shack wants to be. Good food, out of the way location but always a good crowd every time I’m in Tampa. Prices are very reasonable, service has always been excellent. Parking’s a reach but you put up with it. No pretentiousness here. Try the gator appetizer. My son tells me it used to be «Fat Willie’s» so I guess that proves fried fish is dietary and healthful. I know it’s good for my soul, anyway. Enjoy!

My parents dinner was great tasting as they said but on the other hand my steak was suppose to be well done it came out raw ”red”. So our waitress came and took the steak to the back and it came back out less than 2 minutes fast on the grill as I called it as so when I got the steak back at the table it was still blood shot red. So the waitress kindly asked since this problem still exist let’s your steak dinner off the bill so I said please this is one of the nastiest steak dinners I ever had. The lady waitress even said this steak is nasty and couldn’t even bare to eat. So the steak was taken off the bill. Eat to their own risk!!! Ps…I even added a photo of my steak.

I had not been to Willies in several years, so we decided to try it again. The food and service was awesome. Our waitress Stephanie was totally awesome with her service, and her suggestion of what to order(I could not decide). She was friendly, w/o being intrusive.
