I ordered the small chicken soup with a side of white rice. The soup was so good and flavorful and filling. I have a cold right now so this soup hit the spot.

Food is ok. Wont come back or recommend to anyone… Prices are too high!.. The waitress wasn’t pleasant and didn’t even introduced herself to us.

The lomo saltado is stellar here. The steak has really great flavor and I love mixing in the rice with the sauce. I’d really recommend getting the lomo saltado. We also ordered a fresh pineapple juice here which was really good as well. I’ve missed the selection of fresh fruit juices that was on every menu in Latin America! The complimentary bread they brought out at the start of the meal was also really warm/fresh — yum! The other dishes we ordered were not as good. The fried plantains were a little thicker than I was expecting, so it tasted more banana-like(I’m not super fond of bananas: p). The picantes de camarones were disappointing as well. I ordered it because it seemed to be popular according to the other Unilocal reviews, but I found it overwhelmingly buttery without much flavor. I wouldn’t get it again. Tl;dr get the lomo saltado, it’s really good! Was not as impressed with the other dishes

I got the picante de mariscos. Probably the best place in the valley for it. Also got ceviche the time before, really good. Service was decent, they were busy and one waitress, she did outstanding for being on her own.

Search is over! Best lomo saltaldo in the valley! Came here on a Friday night. Got seated right away. Food on the table in less than 15 min. Green sauce here is on point. Loved it! Will be back!

We ordered three different dishes. All of them were really good. Service was also really good. Im surprised that the place wasn’t packed; everything was on point. Free wifi was also a huge plus.

Wow hands down the best Peruvian in van nuys this far. Great fresh food. Plantains are perfect and the lomo saltado is delicious.

I can’t even begin to describe how delicious their lomo saltado is. Way better than these overhyped places like Pica and Mario’s. I used to go regularly when I worked in Sherman Oaks. It’s in a sketchy part of Van Nuys and very easy to miss. There is parking in the back alley and an entrance through the back as well. For approximately $ 13 you get a generous portion of lomo saltado complete with rice. The green garlic sauce it comes with is delicious. The fries are perfect, not too dry, not too soggy. Yum. The waitress(not the owner) is very nice. They also have Inca cola there.

There are many Peruvian restaurants around this area and decided to stop by this one because it was close. They toast and serve old rolls with individual packaged butter. There was only one cook, like most mom and pop restaurants around here, so make sure you give them 20 minutes to prepare the food. I went with the Lomo a lo macho(seafood with rib eye) for $ 14.90. The«ribeye» «strips» we’re extremely thin and was disappointing. Most of the meat was very lean and did not look like ribeye(my favorite cut). The strips were the same size as shoestring potatoe chips. However, the calamari and seafood were cooked with perfection, very tender and flash fried in a Chinese wok. Verdict: Nothing special. There are better Peruvian restaurants within a mile and they serve tastier dishes at a cheaper price.

I was lucky enough to be brought in by an authentic Peruvian date only to realize how much I’ve missed out on this beautifully cultured food. It would be a shame for any culture not to try this form of food. Everything was authentic, fresh and delicious. Though this is a small«Mom and Pop» shop, they do a great job of keeping their establishment clean. The only reason I won’t add that extra star is just because I would’ve liked to see this restaurant incorporate more of its Peruvian culture within the design. Knowing absolutely nothing about the culture, I would’ve loved to see the personality flourished within the negative spaces on the wall. But over all there is nothing wrong with this place. I’d just like to see more about what beauty it has to offer. Mom and Pop shops are honestly the best establishments in my opinion if they can pull off a good meal and a great sense of pride. Check this place out and you’ll definitely find yourself a fan of a new form of food. Tip: this shop is owned by good people, don’t forget to leave a tip because they definitely put hard work into your meal. And don’t forget to brush your teeth, wash behind your ears and stay in school kids!

Pros: + Tallarines Verdes were great! + Friendly customer service + Was able to accommodate a large group Cons: — Alfajores weren’t that good Tip: I would recommend swapping the chicken for a steak for this dish Had the tallarines verdes(pesto pasta) with a milanesa(breaded steak). Loved it! Was really happy because the milanesa that came with the pasta was supposed to be chicken but the nice waitress said it was no problem to get the beef one instead. We had alfajores for dessert which were alright. Was a great spot for lunch.

Have been wanting to try this place for quite a while, so when a friend of mine said he would love to try Peruvian food, the decision was made! I had the Tallarin Saltado con Carne, and he had the Bistec a lo Pobre. Both were delicious. I’m Peruvian and my friend was a first-timer and we would both come back. The servers were also both very nice with just the right level of attentiveness.

I usually order Lomo Saltado for pick up. And really you can’t go wrong with Lomo Saltado. I went to the restaurant the other day with my boyfriend and I had a terrible experience. The service wasn’t great due to the fact that there was one waitress for the whole restaurant. I order ceviche and pescado a lo macho And they were both salty, specially the ceviche which makes no sense. As a Peruvian I would never recommend this place.

This is incredible Peruvian food. They also have some smoothies that sound amazing… but I didn’t order. The food takes some time to get to your table, but the wait is well worth it. The service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. I had the Lomo Saltado Puro Sabor. It was off the charts good. I also got Passion fruit juice(jugo de maracuya) and it was perfect for a warm day. They have interesting Chinese influenced dishes on the menu. Didn’t try them, but other customers did and they look delicious too.

This review is way overdue… AMAZINGFOOD, great service, good prices. Authentic Peruvian food. I am Peruvian and not easily impressed with Peruvian food overseas. Take my word for it! Try the Lomo saltado if you’ve never tried Peruvian food before. Other good choices, tallarines verdes, or chicharrón de pescado. As far as the ambiance, don’t expect much, it’s a little hole in the wall restaurant, but the food is delicious! ENJOY, WEAREGOINGTOMISSTHISPLACE. THANKSEVERYONE!

Haven’t been here in awhile but recently had dinner at this place and like always, great food! Came here on a Friday night and place was empty which was perfect. Lady that served us was friendly and very helpful. Ordered the Yuca a la Huancaina, Lomo Saltado and Picante de Camarones(my favorite!). I love Peruvian food and this place is worth checking out if ever you’re in the Valley.

I would have given Puro Sabor 2 or 3 stars if not for their delicious ceviche. Their ceviche mixto has tons of seafood and the mouth-puckering leche de tigre that they use is quite amazing. I am wiping the drool off my face as I fantasize about eating this dish again. The ceviche is served with tons of red onion, boiled yucca and yam, and corn. It’s definitely very traditional and authentic Peruvian ceviche. Definitely one of the best I’ve ever had. The dish will run you about $ 15 though. Their lomo saltado is, however, a little disappointing. The meat was a little dry and the dish was quite expensive for the portion. The flavor was okay but I wouldn’t order it again. The restaurant is usually pretty quiet. The service was good. They give you bread with butter and a very spicy dipping sauce with your meal. Be careful with putting too much of that sauce since it packs quite a punch.
