Worst lomo saltado I’ve had to date… and the most expensive. 16.50 for chewy bland steak. And burnt fries. And they don’t serve a side of fried bananas like every other Peruvian place does. Every one else is 11 dollars and way better quality. Terrible. Skip this spot…

Delicious Peruvian food! So good my mouth waters thinking about it. The pollo saltado is perfection. Their rotisserie chicken has amazing flavors and their 3 salsas are the best combination.

This place is AMAZING, they have the best chicken in the world. But what i have to say is my fav. is the Lomo Burrito and Lomo Saltado. The waiter was very nice. Was doing an amazing job while being busy and only server there. The food comes out perfect every time. I dream about there fries. And that yellow sause they have. I recommend they give bread but besides that super delious

I’ve been craving Peruvian chicken for as long as I can remember… I tried to order half a chicken with 2 sides, but my only request was it’d be all dark meat. The lady told me NO, she can’t do that. So I tried to order a quarter dark chicken with 2 sides and and another order of a quarter dark meat chicken only. She said, NO, once again. She stated, they do not sell chicken on its own. what a turn off! Mind you, I’m starving, I haven’t all day! Don’t get a hungry woman angry! LMAO Anyways… What ever happened to making your customers happy and wanting them to come back? I came for the chicken! It was well seasoned, juicey, off the bone goodness! The beans lack flavor. The green sauce is bomb, the orange sauce didn’t care for. Whenever I’m in the valley, I try to visit here. The only flaw Takatis has is there lack of customer service.

Drove here in traffic from LA to use the groupon which expires next week on the 14th and the waitress after having sat there tells us THEY no longer accept groupon! I asked is that your business’s decision or groupons? She said its their choice! Omg really?! What business does that? Her response was, «contact groupon and get your money back. Very bad for business!

I always call ahead so I don’t have to wait for the food. I’ve been there a couple times and the chicken is consistently succulent. Perfect combination of savory heat. I highly suggest a visit if you’ve yet to be venture.

Pros: + Get their Sanguchon! + Tallarin Saltado was very tasty(Peruvian pasta dish) + Amazing Papas a La Huancaina!(potato with an amazingly delicious sauce) Cons: — No air conditioning — Some dishes are a bit pricey — Could work on their customer service. — The Tallarines Verdes’s pesto sauce was bland and the steak wasn’t savory The first time we came here we had a rude chick from El Salvador take our order and serve us. The food was good though, so I ignored her lack of professionalism. Had the Sanguchon, which is the most bang for your buck here at about 8 dollars. Super tasty chicken sandwich with fried yams, eggs, cheese, lettuce and tomato The chicken is very tasty and juicy. Also had their papas a la huancaina on the side, which was delicious. The second time, I had the Tallarines Verdes con Bistec(which is pesto pasta with steak). The steak wasn’t savory and the pesto sauce was lacking the garlic taste I’m used to. It was still an enjoyable meal though. The pasta dishes are around 12 – 16 dollars. The third time I came here I had the Tallarin Saltado, which to me is basically a Peruvian chow mein, but way tastier. The servers on our second and third time here were thankfully much more professional.

The food is okay but it doesn’t make up for the horrible customer service. I’m surprised they’re still around considering the mean faces these grown females make to their clients.

Amazing interior compared to exterior! I’ve never had Peruvian food. I was trying something new because it was close to the Van Nuys superior court. I tried their pollo burrito and another dish with pollo. It was great! I gotta say this is one of the top places I ate during my jury service. They have a good price value ranging from $ — $$

I can’t in my right mind suggest this place to anyone. The food isn’t amazing enough to make up for the horrible service. It’s an automatic deal breaker when I wait 45 minutes to NOT get my food and the entire restaurant(which is not large — maybe 8 tables in total) gets their food before us. I’m talking some table came in 25 minutes after us and we’re served all of their food just after we got our ceviche. I proceeded to ask for my shit to go since at this point what was the point of even trying to pretend like we wanted to be there — AFTER I pay the full $ 40 and some change the dude has the nerve to half ass apologize for the wait and immediately said it was because of the type of dish we ordered as if it was our fault. I had no problems pointing out the people from the LAST table to arrive received their food which was almost identical to what we ordered. He had nothing further to offer. Needles to say we will never be making the trip up here again and IF I am in the area and in the mood for Peruvian, I’ll just go down the street to be other Peruvian restaurant who seems to treat their customers with respect.

THEYDONOTACCEPTGROUPONS! BEWARE I bought a groupon and went the same day to try the food. The fine print said dine in only. So we sat down and ordered papa rellena, lomo saltado and tacu tacu. We also tried the chicha and horchata to drink. Food was good, the portions were decent and so was the taste. It went downhill once the bill came. There was only one guy who took orders, was the waiter/host/busboy. So he took a while to come to the table for anythinfg. They really should have more employees working during dinner time. I showed him the groupon and immediatetly he said they were no longer accepting groupons. He said that they had told the company already that they did not want to deal with the groupons, but Groupon themselves dont want to take the business off their website. Umm weird. Well…thats not my fault, and i only came to get dinner because of the discount. I told him that if i had known i wouldnt have bothered on buying the groupon. He said that there was nothing he could do. He actually said: «we dont gain anything by having those groupon discounts» umm yea you do, you get new customers and exposure to future business. What kind of customer service is that? The guy obviously realized that he was wrong, and he gave me what i paid for the groupon as a discount on the bill. I paid like $ 12 for $ 20 worth of food. Still, we left unsatisfied because of the way we got treated and there goes another business not taking advantage of groupon. I dont think i will come back again.

The chicken is pretty good. However, the seating and service need much improvement. I am currently in the back of the restaurant with my friend unable to leave because many people have arrived and have obstructed put way out. The hostess has not checked up on us since our food had arrived. I have been waiting for the past 20 minutes to order something, but honestly I’m reconsidering my decision. Unfortunately, I can’t even leave to pay. I have tried to get her attention, but she hasn’t even looked in my direction.

They were busy tonight but the young lady reassured us that we’ll get seated right away. She even told us that we can order right away and we did, and right when we got seated our order was on our table already. I’m really impressed with the customer service. And the food is so amazing! It’s so delicious. BUT the only downside is the Public Health Grade is «B»

Peruvian craving satisfied! I found this place on Unilocal and decided to come here for my Peruvian fix. BF and I came in on a Sunday afternoon around 3:00. The place was pretty empty only 1 other person waiting for his take out order. When we walked in there was no one there to greet us or sit us down, so we sat ourselves. The place is small, hole in the wall type of location, which I don’t mind at all. Then an older gentleman came to take our drink order. I already knew I wanted to try their specialty drinks«chichi morada». However, they also had a yellow/orangey drink which we wanted to try as well. He offered us samples of both. They were both very good but I went with the purple drink. We also put it our food order. Here it goes: Lomo Saltado– Rib eye steak chopped in pieces, tomato, grilled onions, pepper over fries with a side of rice. It’s not the healthiest choice on the menu but wow were all the calories worth it. The taste was amazing and the lomo was tender. I think what made it even better were the sauces they bring out. My favorite were the orange and green one. Burrito Saltado– Basically everything the lomo saltado plate has but wrapped in a flour tortilla for PERFECTION. I had about 2 bites of this burrito topped with the specialty sauces. It was delicious. Salchi Papa– Fries topped with weiners. I ordered these for my bf because I knew he would like them. He loved them. The service was ok. There was 3 workers; the cook, waiter and cashier. They were all equally nice. The restaurant was a bit hot in temperature but not a big deal. If you’re looking for good Peruvian food at a great price them come dine here.

Quite possibly the best Peruvian food in the valley. The steak was flavorful and delicious. The pesto pasta is a must have! The service was amazing! Our waitress was very friendly, attentive and personable. A true Peruvian cuisine gem that is mandatory on any foodie’s must do list.

Hole in a wall kind of place! And so glad for Unilocal to have found that treasure! The place is really small and very south america like with basic furniture, soccer on TV and slow service :) I have been there twice and the food is still amazing! They have fresh juice, home made dressing from mild to spicy and to die meat including rotisserie chicken. I absolutely love this place!

Everytime i go to a Peruvian restaurant for me its very difficult cuz obviously me as Peruvian i look for very authentic flavor . Its true sometimes they are not the friendly but in this case im not coming for their service im coming for their chicken and some other dishes, today service was good. I always order their chicken with french fries which are fresh cut and their fried sweet potatoe as well which are also fresh cut . My husband orders all the time their famous Sanguchon which has chicken, lettuce, sweet potato, egg and cheese topped off with papitas al hilo and their house sauce . I have tried their causa rellena and its delicious you could tell its very fresh . They have like 4 types of hot sauces and their mayo they also make it. We will always come back if we are in the area great chicken and great food.

******600th Review*****woot woot****** I was craving Peruvian food… Pollo Saltado to be exact and while searching Unilocal for eateries nearby I happened upon Takatis Peruvian Chicken Pollo a la Brasa. This place is minutes from my house so I decided to check it out. 1. The menu here is pretty eclectic. They even had Lomo Burritos which sounds like heaven except I don’t eat steak. 2. They are pretty«pricey» if you are looking for dinner under $ 10. But the Pollo Saltado was about $ 12.99 plus tax which is pretty standard for this dish. 3. They had take-out so YAY! But they also have a cute little eating area so I will be back to dine in. 4. Its fast food without the speed. I suggest calling in and picking up if you have the chance. The wait was a little over 20 mins. I really enjoyed my Pollo Saltado(which is just a Peruvian version of chicken fried rice). It had the standard composition of chicken, onions, tomatoes, rice and fries. It was certainly tasty but not the best I’ve ever had. Great starter dish for those who never had Peruvian food. The portion size was decent, just enough to get me filled without having any leftovers. Overall yummy place to go! The food really put me to sleep tho. I am not sure if that’s a good or bad thing but once I devoured it I knocked out like a baby.

I returned from a trip to Peru last month and was craving some ceviche and pollo a la brasa so I decided to try Takatis again. I ordered the Ceviche mixto(Shrimp, octopus, fish) and it was served very similarly to the ceviche in Peru. It had sweet potato, corn, and some roasted nuts. It wasn’t as good as the ceviche in Peru, but it was still pretty good. It was similar in that it had the limey/citric flavor. I also ordered the pollo a la brasa, which was decent and fairly priced. I actually prefer pollo a la brasa Western in K-town better. However, if I don’t feel like driving all the way to LA for pollo a la brasa, I’ll be returning for it here.
