Bikram Hot Yoga

I thought the instructor was nice enough, although no modifications were offered for any poses which I haven’t experienced before and I found her more ridi than calming. More than anything else I couldn’t get over the carpet. I have never been to a bikram or hot yoga studio with carpet, and I couldn’t get over it. I bought a groupon and just went the once. I think I will find a studio with warmer instructors and most importantly, hardwood floors!

It’s pretty darn fantastic! I’m probably around 100 days, 9000 minutes of Bikram Yoga Vancouver and I love it. They have 2 locations, nearly 60 class times to choose from every week, which is great is you are busy and have a full life outside of class. I love running, swimming, group classes, and all forms of exercise. This has not only been one of the best physical practices of my life, but I have experienced amazing mental growth as well. I do not like hot tubs nor saunas, so 105 degree heat and 40% humidity was an adjustment for me. I appreciate attending classes and having 90 minutes of clear, consistent dialogue and I appreciate the variety of teachers. Both locations are always clean, they have always started and ended on time, and every time I leave I feel amazing. It can be difficult to begin something new, it can be intimidating, but I have nothing but positive things to say about what happens when you stick with this place xoxo

This west side studio just opened in late summer and is the sister studio to BHYV on 164^th. Same owner and same staff, so you know you’re going to get the same amazing experience at both locations. The wonderful thing about having two studios is now you have 50+ class times to choose from, and get the chance to experience all the teachers. Although the postures and dialogue are the same, it’s fun to change up teachers as you gain more opportunity learn something special about yourself and your practice. This studio also has Pay What You Can on Friday nights at 7pm for those on a budget or wanting to try Bikram Yoga without breaking the bank.
Yes, it’s HOT (105 degrees @ 40% humidity), but you get used to it. I promise! I’ve been going regularly for over a year now and I look forward to my practice. I’m more flexible than I’ve been in years, not to mention the muscle I’ve gained and pounds I’ve lost. Please hop on that website, pick the next time that works for your schedule, and come get sweaty in the hot room!

I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of Bikram Yoga. In fact, I hate it and want it to die…
Still, I manage to drag my ass to class and endure 90 minutes of pure Hell. Why? The 8 hours of sheer bliss that follow.
When you work in a fast paced/​high stress environment for over 20 years you get the gift with purchase — health issues. Allergies, arthritis, migraines, and for the ladies, the bonus of belly-​centric weight gain!
I have studied Yoga off and on for the past 15 years. I can’t deny it’s benefits. But I also acknowledge that I’m a flake who likes to eat and drink, and enjoy life. I could always find a reason to bail on a class. Particularly Vinyasa flow… I hate that too. Practicing at home — forget it. With cats and kids, I’m lucky to pee in peace. Oh, but Hatha, and my ever-​elusive Yin Yoga (XXOXX) definitely satisfy!
Vancouver Bikram Yoga is the only studio in Vancouver that accomodates the 8−5+er who needs an early morning session. This Hazel Dell spot is the sister location to The Bikram Hot Yoga Eastside over on 164^th.
They just had their grand opening, so the place is a bit utilitarian. Small studio that maybe holds 20 people, a check in area and a bookcase housing water bottles and yoga mats — nothing like the dreamlike utopia of the Shanti Yoga Center downtown. But it serves it’s purpose.
Bikram Choudhury is the most respected living Yoga guru in the world. Just ask him, he’ll tell you. Frankly, I think he’s an asshole. His militant, drill seargent approach flies in the face of five thousand years of traditional Yoga’s encouragement to «honor your body». It’s no big surprise that this type of yoga is popular with athletes used to «better, faster, more!» coaching.
Still, I sit alongside them and smile and nod sweetly and tune out the instructor’s «Push it harder! harder! This is MY practice, and I will honor my body, THAKYOUVERYMUCH!
