The place is TERRIBLE! I brought in 2 tops to have the straps shortened, and 2 curtain panels to have them shortened.
The short version:
* The husband is not qualified to do fittings and take measurements, yet he does. Don’t let him! He’ll do it wrong.
* They don’t honor the promised pick up date. Call before you go to pick up your stuff!
* The quality of their work is not that good. Threads everywhere, poor stitching, bad measurements. They shortened my curtains, and made one panel 2 inches shorter that the other!
* Customer service is terrible. You have to wait a long time if they are with another customer, and they actually had the nerve to charge me more than they said it would be at drop off!
* Don’t go there!!!
The long version:
* When I brought the stuff in, the husband TRIED to do the measurements on my shirts. He took forever and had no idea what he was doing. I ended up having to pin one of the shirts myself, and the other one was pinned, but so incorrectly, that it really wasn’t actually marked at all. I was pretty nervous about how they were going to turn out.
* Things only got worse when I went to pick everything up.
I called to confirm that my stuff was done, but they didn’t answer the phone, so since it was 2 days past my scheduled pick up date, I just went to pick it up. Of course, they hadn’t even started my stuff yet. She said she would start them right then, and have them done in an hour or so. So, inconveniently, I went to run another errand and planned to go back. I guess the good thing about her not having started my alterations yet is that she was able to remeasure both shirts for me, which needed to be done because her husband’s attempt was completely inept.
* I went back that evening to pick everything up. The husband was «helping» someone else with a fitting when I walked in, and made no attempt to get his wife to come help me, so I had to wait a while. I finally just grabbed my stuff to check it out while I waited. The stitching on both shirts was shoddy, with tons of threads sticking out. I found the strap on one shirt was not sewn properly, and I had to ask them to fix it. The seams on the straps on the other shirt are poorly placed… now on the front of my shoulders, instead of on the top or in the back.
* THEN, after all this nonsense, she had the nerve to charge me more than what had been written on my ticket at drop off, saying her husband gave me prices that were too low originally! She said her work was too high quality for such low prices! HA! I was too tired and frustrated and behind schedule to really argue with her and not pay it, so I just did.
* To top it all off, I get home, hang up my curtains, and find that she made one panel 2 inches shorter than the other! WTH?! One is exactly the length we asked for, the other is 2 full inches shorter! Unbelievable!
Now I’m hassled no matter what. I have to make an extra trip down there to get a refund, try to get the curtains fixed, or replaced, or just live with uneven curtains. No matter what, it was just a huge pain in the butt, waste of time and waste of money!
Don’t waste your time, money and clothes here!!!

This place is a hit or miss. I’ve had a dress altered here that I was extremely satisfied with – it was fitted perfectly for a bargain. So, I went again to get a pencil skirt and Hunter socks altered. The skirt was a great fit when I tried it on, but when I actually wore it around, I noticed that the back part of the skirt with a slit kept folding inwards. I suppose the seamstress messed up the lining. It’s a little upsetting because it was a $ 90 skirt and it didn’t do that before the alteration. The Hunter socks were a bit of an odd request, as most people don’t get socks altered. However, I thought that it’d be a good idea because the socks were much too big on me, and it seemed like a fairly easy job (I even brought my boots for easier and more accurate measurements). Unfortunately, I also regret getting them altered here as well, because despite my request that the socks be a little loose around my feet, she cut so much fabric that I can’t wear socks underneath them and are also too short for my boots. Also, on one sock, the fabric was stitched inside out. Granted, it’s somewhat hard to tell the difference between the sides of the fabric but nonetheless, I’m a fabric noobie and even I could tell.
Overall, I’d come here again for a cheap garment alteration. If you’re wanting to get a zipper replaced, your pants hemmed, or something simple and not very intricate, I’d recommend this place. However, don’t risk bringing in anything remotely expensive.

J & Ree is my «go to» for alterations. I usually plan to drop stuff off for a few days if I give them a big order.
Coming from a family business myself, I appreciate the family feel and that the kids are good helpers, all the while still doing their homework or dishes or the like.
The size is a little awkward as is the fitting room. I also think with the volume of work she has a little better organization would help.
What it really comes down to is the quality of the work, and the female owner and her team/​family do great work. I’ve never had any seams or hems come out, and the measurements are always perfect. I can always expect to be happy with the result.
The location isn’t as bad as some previous opinions, you just have to learn to navigate the neighborhood for the better value.

I needed a hem taken up for a bridesmaid dress at short notice and these guys were open late and were cheap so I went with them. The place is in a shady part of town surrounded by houses. Parking can be found on the surrounding streets. The husband of the seamstress was there by himself and said that he would do the measurements for the fitting. This seemed a bit off to me and he didn’t seem to have a lot of experience, but I went with it. The dressing room looked like a converted closet and was cramped and awkward with the curtain only to close it. He made the measurements in the main work room and I left the dress with him with an assurance that it would be ready the next night. I returned the next night and the seamstress was there and she was luckily much less odd and awkward than her husband. The price was right ($ 13 including rush fee and tax) and I’m glad my dress was done quickly and well, but the awkwardness of the place and shadiness of the neighborhood knocked my review down a few stars.

If it sounds too good to be true it is. First the place sits next to some housing that let’s just say has seen better days and had to drive by a few times before I had the courage to dart in while seriously wondering if my car would still be there when I came out. The place is a run down house with a room in the front. Be warned the «husband» or whatever he is might wander in during your fitting (eeek) and say wierd things like «GOOD MORNING» when it actually is night. But hey it was just a hem…
Came back– hem fine great price. So far so good, decided to take a coat in and have sleeve hem and some other tailoring. This time things got more wierd. The GOOD MORNING” greeter guy came in again (it was evening) and hovered over us. I was assured that this would be done in time for trip and it would be NO PROBLEM. Remember that in other countries that phrase usually means «we have no idea when it will be ready» and you will get when we decide to do it… So no surprise when no coat for trip, Came back two weeks after the finish date and surprise it’s still not done. The Good MORNING guy was there as assured me his wife would do it asap, in fact HE might even do it himself as she was teaching him to sew! I could see where this would end and tried to get the garment back but GOOD MORNING guy insisted his wife would do it that night. It was already night.
The «Wierd AL» scenario was getting to me and I decided to leave it and get out of there. I even considered never coming back since my life started to seem more important than this coat. But after debating this for another week I did venture back. I just wanted the coat and to get out of there. Did not even look at it just paid and left. And since I had no use for the coat since I had already taken the trip I bought the coat for, I stuck said coat in my closet. Fast forward a few weeks and decide to wear coat to event. Take coat out, put it on and something is just off… I stare at the mirror and it takes a minute and then I SEE IT. Yes folks, they actually sewed my sleeve hem on BACKWARDS. The sleeve buttons and detail were under my sleeve arm not on top. Careful inspection then showed where fabric was ripped and they must have thought hey, let’s just flip the sleeve backwards, and cover up our damage– she will never know… Seriously I can not make this stuff up.
