This is the worst store ever! The boss Margie is a bitch! They need a new manager big time! I worked there for 4 days she did not train me what’s so ever! She yells at everyone she treats all of her employees like shit! She needs to be fired big time! Tasha the asm was great with me super nice I think she should be the manager she was the only one that was there! Margie the boss shoes no cuminication at all all she does is nag everyone thinking we all should bow down to her um no! When ur a manager ur suppose to be nice a lot of ppl complain about her please fire her she does not deserve to be manager!

We were so excited when this store opened so close to us. I had it marked off on my calendar as a holiday, and my daughter and I were in line HOURS early. We got in, and because she was so patient in line, I let her get a candy first thing, and let her pay, making her the first paying customer at the store.
The store jumped on a downward spiral. See, the manager, Margie, is very mean and rude. She is so mean and rude that even the employees are scared of her. One of my experiences with her happened when I went to use my business tax exemption. I’m in the books, and have been for years. She decided, after I’d been rung up for hundreds of dollars, that I had to start showing her my business license each time I wanted to use it. That’s not corporate policy! And you’re not supposed to carry around a business license anyway. If I didn’t need the stuff badly enough, I’d have left without it. It was $ 30 in tax I shouldn’t have had to pay.
Another time I went in, she got frustrated that my daughter was being a bit loud. No, I don’t mean she was screaming and I’m just skewing it in my head. I have no problem acknowledging my daughter’s behavior even when it’s not so great. My daughter is autistic, and when she gets excited, she’ll use a loud voice, but she’s not yelling. Think of a boisterous adult. Margie made it pretty clear that my daughter wasn’t welcome if she was going to «scream.»
A friend of mine went with me another time, and her son started whining to go outside when we were checking out. Margie kept shooting very stern, pointed glares my friend’s son, while making a show of grinding her teeth so we knew what she thought of us.
I finally stopped going in when Margie is there, and only go now when she isn’t supposed to be there, and when the nearby Hancock doesn’t have what I need. When she is, a few of the employees let me, and a few other regulars, know. That’s how bad Margie is. There’s a high turn-​over rate specifically because of HER. I’m honestly not sure why she hasn’t been fired.
A few weeks ago, when she wasn’t there, I had an item incorrectly marked (marked one price, rang up higher), and the cashier rang is up according to the marked price, and as noticeably stressed about it. I asked if she was okay. I’ve been there enough that the employees know me well, and so she said she was trying to figure out how to explain to her manager that a price-​override was done. She was afraid of being in trouble. The asst. MOD was stressing about it too. Even when she isn’t there, the employees are scared of what will happen when she is. I know for FACT that a few of the employees are looking for new jobs, and won’t tell her until they give notice. I won’t say who so they won’t get in trouble, but it’s enough that employees are fleeing to get away.
Over at Hancock, a common topic of conversation among shoppers is what’s happened when they’ve gone to Joann’s. Everything from Margie refusing to accept Oregon ID (tax exempt) if you don’t tell her you have it BEFORE she starts ringing (even though it’s not needed until the end), to her making inappropriate statements to people, is common. That Joann’s has a very bad rep because of her, and people around her openly question who she’s sleeping with in corporate to still have a job she is so obviously not able to do well. Employees and shoppers shouldn’t be scared of a manager.
I only gave this place two stars for the other employees who have to deal with her, and who obviously try hard, even while being afraid of what she’ll do when they fix a pricing error. The other employees are great. Keep them, get rid of Margie, and the store would be five stars. Margie alone has smashed this place into the ground.
