Sunday, Jan.17 we had«dinner» here, we had had dinner once before and it was OK, but last night was horrible we will never be back. There were a few people at the bar and they were so noisy that we had to yell to be heard in our own booth, their«jokes» were ALL filthy yelling rather crude anatomical references, cursing the Lords name etc. Then the dinner, in all fairness the fish and chips was good, but the Shrimp Louie, horrible, a small dinner plate with about 1 cup of iceberg lettuce, some horrible slices of canned beets, a «mound» of a ¾ cup of CANNED shrimp, ½ cup of «marinated?» Onion slices and a sliced hard boiled egg. We politely complained about the noise and the rude jokes and nothing was done, but when the loud cursing started and nothing was done. We got up and left paid our bill and let our waitress know we would never be back. Quite frankly this hidden place should stay that way!

We live in the Vancouver area where there are not a ton of choices so we like to try all of the restaurants in the area. We were a little weary at first because it is in an apartment /condo complex. It even doubles as the general store for the complex. Like I said I want to try all that the area has to offer so I packed up my wife and headed out. As we drove in she looked at me and asked if I knew where I was going? LOL, We pulled up and got a seat at the small full service bar. Cindy our waiter greeted us with a warm welcome and suggested the Prim Rib special with all the fixings. The price was very reasonable and the food was very good. The Service was great and all of the locals seemed to be very friendly. The chief did a wonderful job which really impressed me. Come and check this place out. Prime Rib is served on Fridays so that is a good time to come. We will be coming back to this little hole in the wall soon.

I have mixed feelings. I was very excited to try this place, since most of the reviews I read dubbed it a «hidden gem». Much to my dismay, it was anything but. Hidden, yes. But a gem… I think not! First off, my friend and I found a booth and proceeded to wait for 10 mins before I decided to find someone to help us. Upon arriving to the bar, I found it left unattended with several patrons surrounding it. I was informed that the bartender was in the back cooking. Huh? One customer actually got up, got us some menus and went to the back to ‘get someone for us’. At which point, we were greeted by a young, meek girl who didn’t even know what beers they had on tap. Isn’t the waitress suppose to be knowledgeable of the products offered at the establishment she works at? Looks like someone needs to do her homework. I will admit, they had a nice selection of appetizers on their happy hour menu. The coconut prawns and the pulled pork quesadilla were great, but nothing to brag about. The place was clean and I liked the quiet atmosphere, but the lack of service and the outside view left little to be desired. I may return for a beer, but I’ll be sure to sit at the bar next time to make sure I’m noticed right away.

Great find. Had read about this place in the paper. Finally tried it. Quality food at a very reasonable price. Can’t wait to try it for dinner. Limited menu but I know everything they do for dinner will be excellent. I suggest you try this place. Call ahead and see what’s on the menu, then you decide.

So I heard the scariest words my wife ever says to me…“honey we are going out on Saturday and you need to pick the place.” I had heard of this place from a friend and decided to give it a shot… what a hit!!! The staff was friendly and helpful. Food was great, decent portions and extremely fair price. We had a couple appetizers, adult beverages and prime rib and were out of there for under $ 40. I now never have to fear those words again… thank you Shorewood. It is a little confusing to get to in the complex and it really doesn’t look like much from the outside but it is well worth it.

Don’t go to Shorewood Market & Café. I’m serious… don’t…go. Too many of you go and I won’t find a seat!!! Discovered this little restaurant, convenience store, bar the other day that serves the condo and apartments it’s surrounded by. A friend of a friend lives in there somewhere and so we stopped. Cute little bar area with one TV. Full bar and 3 or 4 taps. 3 or 4 tables max with another 6 – 7 seats at the bar. Tiny. Another 5 or 6 tables on the other side of the«market» for the less rowdy. lol Watched several people, likely residents, stop in and get takeaway. Didn’t eat other than the two delish apps I posted pics of. Great HH prices. Was told the ribs are to die for… and when they make them you can just get them by the each… pork or beef. So again. Do NOT go here. My little find. MINE!

I don’t how their food is so inexpensive because it is awesome gourmet food! This is a hidden gem in Vancouver, right on the water! It might be hidden, but it worth seeking out, try it! If you like coconut shrimp you’ll be in heaven, I know I was!
