Bob’s Twist and Shake Ice Cream

A really great ice cream store… Large portions, and a large selection to choose from. Personally, I think that this beats Dairy Queen hands down.

Best banana split ever! Friendly service from the two young ladies. One noticed my Hubby’s Vietnam Veteran cap and thanked him for his service. Not something that happens often enough. Big portions at a good price. We will be back next time we’re in the area.

Spend a lot of time in Venice, Fl and a favorite stop is Nokomis Grove for an orange and vanilla ice cream cone. I have been disappointed lately — not sure if Nokomis grove has changed their machines or recipe, but it is not the same.

Stopped by around 1 pm today and drove up to order, the chocolate fantasia caught my eye but thought to try the namesake and ordered a soft serve orange & chocolate twist which I was informed that they didn’t have and by golly it said so on the order board, so I noticed HAND SCOOPED raspberry truffle and asked for that but they ran out of it, so karma corralled me back to the HAND SCOOPED chocolate fantasia.
The scoop of chocolate fantasia was good and creamy chocolate ice cream with a hint of cherry, and shaved chocolate mixed in to boot. I think the cherry flavor came from the ice cream and not the shavings but could be wrong. The shaved chocolate melts on the tongue with the ice cream which is better than chunks or chips that remain behind to be chewed while the ice cream in the bowl is melting to soup. This ice cream held its own against the mildly warm temperatures so no soupy mess.
The lass at the window seemed cheery.
The only improvements that Bob’s could use is to erase flavors when they run out and develop the web page more since not every one is on Facebook.

They passed inspections with a couple of foopaws and compared to Dairy Queen’s inspections Bob’s is immaculate (DQ passed their inspections too).
This is a TRUE local business and the sole location needs steady business. The Arby’s drive thru was full while I was the only patron at Bob’s. They have HAND SCOOPED ice cream as well as soft serve. Their outdoor seating is dog and child friendly. So take the kids and the dog for an after school special.

If I owned the DQ in Venice, I’d be sweating buckets. Bobs has better ice cream, bigger portions, cheaper prices and more options! If you love soft serve ice cream, mix-​ins, shakes or malts, this place is a must. I got a vanilla mix-​in with peanut butter and peanut butter cups and it was fantastic!

Pretty good place. You wouldn’t notice when driving by, but there’s a nice little patio where you can sit and eat away from the traffic. If you’re diabetic, check out their salted caramel ice cream. Really tasty. Bob’s is kind of expensive, but what isn’t these days?

Delicious soft serve! Flavor burst is my favorite. It’s a vanilla soft serve «lined» with flavor. Pretty and satisfying. Just check before you drive out there. I’ve been so disappointed when they’re not open.
