We heard about this place via groupon. Wouldn’t have known it existed otherwise. Never once were they rude regarding the fact that we had a discount package. Joan was behind the bar. She knew her stuff. The groupon was a great deal. I highly recommend this place. It doesn’t advertise itself as a winery so I’m not sure why so many people are mad about it. That seems to be their own personal misunderstanding. It’s a great place to try a random variety of wines.

Big disappointment. I bought a Groupon for this place, and when I called to make a reservation, I was basically told not to come in — either they were closed or ‘expected a big party’. The owner couldn’t care less, now that she collected the Groupon fee! The business advertised itself with misleading pictures. It’s not a winery or cellars, but a storage building in an industrial park.

My husband and I recently moved to Ventura and found Gone West Cellars on Unilocal. After reading all reviews, we decided to try it out for ourselves, regardless of a few negative reviews. This place is in an industrial area, just like most other tasting rooms in Ventura County. However, don’t be fooled by the location because this place is «happenin». The owners were warm and welcoming, offering tasting and conversation right away. We were told they have live music on Fridays, and arts & crafts on wednesdays & thursdays… oh yeah they have a classic juke box, large screen TV, and plenty of beer to choose from for those who don’t drink wine(weirdos lol). Also, the décor is just as classy & interesting as the many, many tasting rooms we’ve visited in Paso, Lodi & Los Olivos. I am so glad we checked this place out and will absolutely be back!

My husband and I just went here for the first time for a tasting and appetizers and were pleasantly surprised by its very inviting atmosphere. It was ranch house style and totally charming! The wine and food were great, and the ladies running the place were so sweet and fun to talk to. We really enjoyed our experience and can’t wait to go back!

We had a Fabulous Birthday Celebration for My Husband at Gone West! The Gone West Family made My Husbands 50 Birthday so much fun. Debbie and Crew kept the wine flowing and delicious appetizer coming to our table. The atmosphere was festive. Debbie, Joan and the Crew made us feel like we are part of the Gone West Family! The band JJ Frank was so much fun people were dancing the night away. What a fun festive atmosphere. I highly recommend Gone West for any celebration you have. Love their wine and craft nights too.

Debbie is SO sweet! We purchased a groupon while on vacation in Ventura and had a great time. I got a red wine flight and my boyfriend got a white wine flight. All of the wines were delicious, and the owner was very knowledgable. The cheese plate was impressive! My favorite was the bacon cheddar cheese — it went really well with all of the wine selections. I definitely recommend this winery! I will be coming back if in the area :)

We love this place. Debbie is so friendly and helpful and Larry’s pannini’s are the perfect light lunch to go with your tasting. Don’t be fooled by the industrial warehouse location… the tasting room has a rustic comfortable feel. Love that you can taste from a variety of vineyards. Will return often!

Love this place — had a group of about 8 – 10 people and just had a blast, was supposed to be just a quick 20 minute stop and a wine tasting day, but ended up staying for like an hour — We had a blast! — very laid back vibe — will be back —

This place isn’t your average«Wine Tasting“place it’s on a page of its own. The owner Debbie is such a Joy! She has so much Life in her that just seems to spills over onto you. You can not just sit there and not feel a bit more lifted up.
They do craft evenings on Wed. and Thurs., 5−7pm. Seems it’s more women dominated but I can see men joining in as well. $ 15 includes all you need to complete a TAKEHOME craft PLUS you get lovely glass of wine. I believe the second glass in only $ 5 . Reservations are required for this because it has become so popular. Debbie will post the next craft on their Facebook page where you can sign up. She makes it all so easy and fun anyone can do it. On Fridays from 6pm — 8 they have LIVE music and OMG, everyone seems to participate. There is dancing and singing, some even join the band. Funny! Was there one night it went on until 9:30pm no one wanted it to stop. The wine they serve is always changing. Debbie selects from venders that are top notch. Larry, the quiet partner, makes a satisfying nosh plate if you’re feeling a bit peckish.

Loved the selection ! The owners are very friendly. I visited from Santa Barbara and her location in the industrial area reminded me of the funk zone. Will definitely visit again

I visit Debbie and Larry at Gone West Cellars at least once a week. Debbie organizes a craft night every Thursday night. Complete a craft and enjoy a glass of wine and meet new people. So much fun. The wine selection is fabulous. Every Friday they have music as well. A gem hidden in a industrial area. Visit Gone West for some wine(or beer). You won’t be disappointed!

A friend had a groupon to this location and we stopped in on. Saturday afternoon. What a nice little hidden gem. The wines were unique and very good and the atmosphere was a very quaint little western themed location. Would have never expected this in an industrial park in Oxnard. The hostess, I think her name was Debbie, was very very pleasant and knowledgeable about the wines she served. They have sandwiches and other bites. We had the cheese plated which was very good. I would definitely recommend this spot and will stop in again soon.

Love the vibe here, casual and fun. The owners really know their wine and will steer you to new tastes. Yummy food choices, cheese plate & assorted Panini’s. They also do private events here for about 40+. Music on Friday nights, crafts on Thursday.

I was expecting a winery from the pictures online as well as the advertisement on living social & Unilocal. This was a previous storage facility converted into a wine storage with a makeshift retail component. When we arrived we were asked if we had a «coupon» and once I said yes we were treated as though we were just«coupon» customers. It was very quiet and the owner /server was too busy setting up for an art project to pay attention to us. We were given some cheese on a paper plate with some old wines. The owner barely acknowledged us throughout our experience and did absolutely nothing to explain the wine we were drinking nor anything exciting for that matter. She seemed as though this was a retirement hobby and nothing more. Obviously this place does little business and quite frankly has nothing to offer. I would not waste my time or money going to this place, even with a «coupon»

We had an amazing time at Gone West Cellars! The owners were very welcoming and lots of fun. We did two tastings; white and red. They told us about the wines as they poured and suggested other wines we might enjoy based on our preferences. The décor is a casual and fun western theme. Much of the décor is hand done by the talented owners. They had live music the night we were there. The duo sounded really good and not too loud in the small space. We bought two bottles of wine. One we had tasted, and one based on the owner’s suggestion. Their advice was excellent. They focus on wineries you can’t find at the grocery store or big outlets. Lots of regulars came in while we were there. You can tell folks really feel at home here. Everyone was no nice! We can’t wait to go back!

The wine is good here and it is a great place if I was a local to get a little hammered. Especially cause they serve food. But to get a coupon and drive an hour to to meet friends just wasn’t worth it. Don’t get all dressed up for two reasons. One, it’s not fancy, just in a industrial area building. Nothing says winery about it. Two, NO air! Blazing hot and one small fan up above. Lady running the place found it hard to even smile. You serve alcohol, how can you not smile? 4 stars for the variety of pretty good wines… And food. Want to be fair cause it was site unseen, but that is why they post no pics.

Found out about this place through living social. This is my new favorite winery. Even though we came in on a deal, the owner was extremely nice and pleasant. They feature local wines, and when I did wine tasting($ 10 per person for 4 tastings of either red or white), did not have a single bad one. Their cheese plate was $ 10 and had four cheeses, meat, fruit and nuts. Pretzels and water came complementary with the tasting(kudos for being classy). For the price, this is the best winery in Ventura and a lovely hidden gem. The décor and atmosphere was very pleasant as well. I will definitely be back.

This was our first stop of the wineries and by far one of our FAVORITES! The couple there were very friendly and welcoming. They had wines from all around the area which was nice because you could have pretty much everything in the one stop! =) The wine selection was excellent! We were planning on just tasting but ended up walking out with a few bottles. I would stop back in a heartbeat next time I am in the area. Very cute, good food and great wine selection! Their blends are even AMAZING!

My husband and I really enjoyed our visit here. We are currently members at Cantara and Rancho Ventavo in Ventura County. I imagine we’ll be members here soon. They serve Gone West wines, of course, but also lots of local wines(VC and Santa Ynez) and Paso Robles wines as well. New wines appear on the tasting list every week, so you’re not trying the same wines every week. Love that! Great western décor, too. My husband and I tried the: 1) Gone West Red 2) Magnavino Petite SIrah 3) Opolo Mountain Zinfandel 4) Chronic Cellars Purple Paradise All were great and we had a glass of our favorite wine with our yummy tuna sandwich. They have beer, also. Can’t wait to come back!
