Very good food, some of the best quality food I’ve had in awhile. Bread is very fresh. They even keep the balsamic vinegar on each table! That stuff isn’t cheap. Most quality places you have to ask for it. Gino and his wife are awesome people. Very personable. He is from Sicily and she in from Scotland(I hope I got that right). We are going to Vancouver Canada in May; we hope to visit their other restaurant up their. If you go here, try their: Piccatta Al Limone(Sautéed chicken with a lemon garlic wine sauce/pasta on side).

Tonight we got the privilege of trying a wonderful Italian dinner. We decided to try a hole-in-wall Italian restaurant that has always been one of walk on past sort of restaurants. So glad we finally decided to step inside. The entire experience was absolutely wonderful; the greeting, the food, and even the iced tea. When we walked in, we were met by Connie who was warm and welcoming. She explained the passion for excellence for food by her husband. The house salad was fresh and the dressing was light. The fettuccini was creamy but not a thick cream sauce. The spaghetti bolognese was amazing. And, the meatballs were seasoned perfectly. Let’s now mention the bread. A special shout out for the bread. It’s the same as eating Italian pizza crust. Wow! Perfect to compliment bot the fettuccini and the spaghetti. I should have enjoyed a good wine with a good meal, but I went with the iced tea Fresh brewed and with citrus. What a great meal! Should have tried this place a long time ago. This is my favorite Italian restaurant. Can’t waistband to go back!

Found this place visiting downtown Ventura. Saw vespas and decided to go and have lunch. I tried a few things off the menu and everything was delicious. Everything was fresh and everything was flavorful. Haven’t had food like this in a while. The owners are very sweet and they make everything in house. Cant wait to go back!

Walked in and no one greeted us. An older man sat us down but we asked to sit at another table and he got upset basically saying we weren’t good enough to sit at the other table. We ended up leaving because I wasn’t going to stay there after being treated this way. Will not be going back.

I love these type of little family run spots. It’s places like this one that give them a great name! The food was wonderful and beautifully served. This place sure was busy, which seems accurate due to the fact that it was a Friday night and such a delightful place. The only downfall was the delay receiving menus and getting drink orders taken… luckily it wasn’t a crazy amount of time and well worth it!

Perfectly balanced seafood risotto, an abundant glass of chianti and Gino’s hosting instincts gave shelter and sustenance from the storm. Sicily’s sumptuous food and cozy atmosphere is as perfect for an aching heart as for the romantic dinner for two. Thank you, Gino!

We rejoiced when we found out Gino and Connie were back in Ventura County with a new spot. We love Sicily by Gino. The food is amazing. The environment is great and perfect for kids as well. We live in Pasadena and still make the trek to eat here. Thanks for serving up authentic and awesome Italian food!

This charming little Italian place reminds me of L’Osteria del Forno up here in San Francisco. Sicily by Gino is one of those really romantic places where you can linger over your meal. Connie is very friendly and with Gino in the kitchen, the place feels like home. I started with a mixed green salad that was very tasty. For the main course, I had the Pasta Puttanesca which was delicious. So many versions of this dish are overly salty and this one by Gino was well balanced and flavorful. When I visit Ventura again, I’ll be sure to return to this wonderful trattoria!

Sicily By Gino, you were amazing tonight! Very similar story with most of the places we try… SBG has always been on my Bookmark List, so tonight when I had absolutely no idea what I wanted– I took to my list to help me decide. After swiping through the first few pictures, I was sold. It was the Antipasto Salad that caught my eye and hungry belly. I knew it was going to be our first night at SBG. The hubs and I walked in around 7:36p. They are only open from 5p-9p, thought that was interesting, but okay. We almost missed the entrance since it blends in with their décor and the sushi joint next door. We were greeted by Connie, the owner who was extremely personable. We were the only guests, but within the next 15 minutes a party of two quickly became a party of 10. People came in with reservations. Connie was very entertaining and gave wonderful recommendations. The restaurant itself is very cozy; truly reminded me of my in-laws home, so that felt nice. Our food was out within 20 minutes or so, everything eVeRtHinG was so fresh… The Antipasto Salad which we shared because it’s huge, has the yummiest, chunks of mozzarella with fresh lettuce, black and green olives and just the right amount of oil and vinegar. For our main dishes, I ordered the carbonara add chicken, which was absolutely amazing!!! The hubs ordered the spaghetti pesto with chicken, also very tasty and light. The food is so fresh and flavorful, everything we ate was so delicious. You can definitely taste the freshness and love within the homemade dishes. After we received our dinner, Gino himself came out and chatted with my hubs who is Italian. Gino and his wife, Connie are beyond sweet and made us feel very welcome. I would have to say my 5 star rating wasn’t solely on the food but for the overall experience. We are looking forward to our next visit… Gotta support local businesses! P. s. If you need a recommendation order anything, everything is delicious you can’t go wrong!

This is a charming little spot run by the owners, Connie and Gino(of Gino’s Pizzaria in SB). Connie is a charming hostess and gives great recommendations on wine. The pizza is great and the homestyle pasta plates are very good as well.

Delicious Italian food. Tonight was my second time eating here. First tried penne isabella(awesome– sausage, mushrooms, yum!), and tonight I tried the chicken parmigiana with fettuccine alfredo. Lemme just say, m’gut is a-busting! Couldn’t stop eating. Connie is a treat… she is so personable and fun. It is a teeny, tiny place… but cozy!

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant based on all the great reviews. It not only lived up to its reviews — it exceeded them. Everything we ordered was delicious! The food was incredible — prepared with love — simple, fresh and so satisfying. We were transported to Sicily for an evening. The owners are pouring their love, humor and years of experience into everything — Gino is the chef and his wife Connie works the front of the House. This is a find in the heart of Ventura. If you can’t fly to Sicily — spend an evening here and you will be glad you did. Make sure to save room for the tiramisu!

We’ve been here 4 times. Love the location right next to the theatre on Main Street. The owners are super nice, and make you feel very welcome. This restaurant reminds us of some of the small restaurants we went to in Italy, very comfortable and casual with a family feel. Bread is really good that’s served before and during your mean, fresh out of the oven. The lasagne is my favorite but their pizza is great as well. Loved the chicken picatta also. My hubby feels like the sausage and pasta could use more sausage but that’s about our only complaint. We look forward to many returns.

Excellent 10″ pizzas. I loved their estate pizza. Funny thing was I called it estate and Gino replied that they didn’t have a steak pizza. In Italian it’s pronounced es-ta-ta and so it took 30 seconds to explain which pizza that I wanted. It was like we were back in Italy. The free bread before our meal was hot and delicious. Hard on the outside, soft on the inside. Delicious. Having been to Italy a few times and loving that«feel» I felt like I was in Italy again when we went here. Winderful. The owner brought a bottle of wine with him and sat down with a couple next us and he poured them some wine and the three of them talked for a while. A while later while he was over at our table talking with us(our table was outside) another patron who had just come into the little restaurant stuck his head out and yelled some words in Italian to Gino. It was like we were back in Italy.

If you enjoy having dinner while listening to an entitled chef complain about your order through an open kitchen, then this is your place. Top it off with the owner complaining about the chef to you personally as well and handing you a full bill… I’m sorry try a different profession, other places make Italian food we’ll send everyone there

I think I just found the best little italian restraint in the world. I’ve ordered a lot of eggplant parmesan in my days but never have I had pink sauce in my noodles! I couldn’t recommend a better place in aVentura if I tried, I will tell everyone to go here if I get a chance or maybe I will keep it my secret, lol. I can’t wait to try more things from here, the people are very nice here the place idle small but that’s ok with me.

This is a great little restaurant. Our table ordered a caprese salad, antipasto salad, baked meatballs, pasta bolognese, chicken parmesan, lasagna and tiramisu. Everything we had was good. Their food reminds me of how I like to cook. We left happy and full. Our host Gino was cool. Made us feel very welcome. There’s also something to be said about the good people of Ventura. People are just nice up here. I asked Gino for some parmesan cheese. Before he could get it for me a local couple next to us handed me some. You don’t see that in Los Angeles. No wonder we spend so much time up here!
