I’ve been visiting the Daily Chocolate since 2008(?) The little shop in the basement off of Main Street in Vergennes is magical. One walks in and is surrounded by delicious chocolate smells. DC specializes in dark chocolate, citing its high antioxidant benefits. Abut 50% of its offerings are«barks» and the other half hand crafted chocolate bonbons. I have several favorites. The white chocolate lemon lavender bark with almonds is amazing. There is a dark chocolate bark with dried cherries, toffee and nuts that is also a favorite. It’s so much fun to go in and choose from the daily offerings. Jen, the owner, is always inventing something new and wonderful. DC also sells in some local stores(Healthy Living and Dobra Tea), but the best experience is visiting the shop itself. If you haven’t been there yet, you really should.

Looking for another great chocolate place in Vermont and I found this place while visiting my best friend. We found the sign but no store? No, store was actually downstairs of the building hidden from the street. Very cute, small, and cozy place. When we went inside, we experience this delicious smell of chocolate actually being made right in front of you. I wanted to buy them all, but I got an assortment of the barks that they had. My friend said the coconut chocolate is one of the best that she ever tasted. I took them to work as a souvenir and everybody came back for more! I will see if they delivery… but it’s chocolate, so not sure if it would be as good as eating right there at the store…

Salted caramels in dark chocolate! I savored this one on the street and I’m still dreaming about it. Just off the main drag here in Vergennes, VT is a set of stairs that lead to the basement of a historic building. You’ll find one thing done well… chocolate. There are no gumdrops or candy buttons to add filler. There is just chocolate and that’s all you need. I had a dark chocolate drop with bits of candied ginger. Not the dried out kind you find in the back of your mom’s baking basket, but the kind that has a thick coating of sugar and a toothsome gelled center with that ginger flavor that knocks you upside the head. Divine. The coconut clusters have thickly shaved coconut pieces that have not been basted in corn syrup. It’s the real deal. The chocolate is smooth and the focus is on the cocoa flavor rather than that melty sugar taste you get out of a grocery store candy bar. High quality ingredients and some serious talent make this chocolate shop well worth a visit.

I was very impressed with the cholocate I bought from this place. I asked the lady who helped me to select a variety at her discretion and I was very happy with it. My favorite was the lemon flavored white chocolate bark, I could eat it all day. I would recommened the Daily Chocolate to anyone, except those who don’t like chocolate of course.

This is a genuine chocolate maker housed in a nearly hidden basement storefront half a block east of Main Street in Vergennes. The interior of the shop is very thoughtfully put together, looking both very clean and at the same time old fashioned /antique in an elegant way. They had individual chocolates and several«barks» which seemed to be a specialty. We tried a selection of their nonalcoholic chocolates(we are not against alcohol but generally agree that alcohol and chocolate do not go well together) and barks. The barks were very good based on their composition of fresh nuts and interesting other ingredients(dried fruits), however, in spite of these being well done overall, I generally do not like these as much as specialty chocolates. My feelings were quite mixed regarding the specialty chocolates. Caramel containing chocolates are my favorites and this place made several creative and excellent tasting chocolate caramels. While these all had a truly gourmet flavor and an excellent balance of flavors, they were all a «soft», nearly liquid caramel which seems cheap and reminds me of the caramel sauce at a self-serve froyo shop. Overall, great specialty chocolate flavors but terrible caramel consistency. My favorite was a chocolate nougat but would have easily been one of the caramels if they were actually chewy like caramel. ought to be(in my opinion).

We ordered wedding favors from Daily Chocolate and were amazed at how good they were. We asked for assorted chocolates so that each box was different and our guests could have fun trading with each other if there were some that they liked better than others. Every single guest we’ve spoken to complimented us on the chocolates and asked where we had ordered them from. The presentation was fantastic and the team at Daily Chocolate was a pleasure to work with — we even ordered over the phone! I highly recommend Daily Chocolate!

I placed multiple orders for shipping for the 2008 holidays. I picked 21 different items from the Web site’s «menu». Of those four were not available. Each of my orders contain two pieces each of between six to eight varieties. Despite order taking being done over the phone, orders were expedited properly and timely. It’d be more efficient if there was a Web form for entering order, but it’s still worthwhile.
