Gordman’s

This is an awesome store and was well worth the 30 minute drive for me.
Gordman’s are hard to come by in the Chicagoland area for some reason. Maybe it’s because we’re so inundated with TJ. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and Ross instead. If you like frequenting any of the aforementioned stores, you’ll like Gordman’s.
Gordman’s has a little bit of everything. I mainly come to check out the home décor, gourmet foods and pet departments.
I made the trek today because I had a decent in-​store credit to use. I found several items I couldn’t live without at very reasonable prices.
I walked in and was pleasantly surprised to find the store calm, quiet and well-​organized. You could tell that the employees spent a lot of time tidying shelves and racks to make the customer experience that much better. Kudos there. You won’t find shopping carts in random places here.
LOTS of inventory. You’ll find something for anyone and everyone on your list.
Staff was very friendly, which I was super appreciative for.
The store itself is located in a large strip mall near Home Depot. When I arrived I was surprised to see only 4 other cars in the parking lot. If you visit a Gordman’s in Indiana or Iowa finding parking is tricky.
Wish the location was closer. The good prices make it worth the drive, just not often for me. I’ve been inside a few Gordman’s stores and this is easily the best (cleanliness, organization, customer service, inventory) location I’ve visited.
Will be back if I’m in the area.

I really like this store. It’s the ultimate gift shop. I never leave without finding something — at great prices! And something for me too. The employees are very helpful and it’s not crazy busy — but I don’t know why. Sign up for their emails because you get great coupons on your phone.

We were desperate. Sooo desperate to find black sweats and a matching black sweatshirt for my son’s Halloween costume. After going everywhere… and I mean everywhere, I remembered passing by this store a million times and so we pulled up in the super empty parking lot and dodged in hoping for a miracle.
No miracle. No sweats. No kids clothes at all. They carry young juniors up to adults in the clothes department. Kind of reminded me of a mix of Kohl’s meets Homegoods. In the junior boys section I spotted a lot of casual clothes with brands like Fila and Hugo Boss. Honestly, I was a little confused as to why someone would shop here over the many other stores in the area. I think this store would be better served setting up shop in a place without a lot of competition.
It’s a huge store and REALLY CLEAN! I love that this is an independent retailer ready to celebrate their 100^th anniversary. They are family-​owned and have a great story. However, I’m sad to say I see no reason why I’d go back :-(

Yesterday was my first time going to Gordman’s after I asked my friend where she got her jeans… I happened to go in at the perfect time… the sale was unbelievable…
Quality dress pants for work ($ 7) Quality jeans with awesome fade, stitching and pocked design ($ 9) and a black cardigan ($ 4). all together $ 20!!! All items with a yellow price tag was 50% off that!!! This place absolutely has Discovery, TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Ross’s beat!
Employee’s were very helpful and super nice.
My only suggestion would be for the staff to dress a little more trendy or business casual.
Overall this will be my go to all the time now! I will always keep an eye out for their clearance event.

I have shopped at this store quite abit-​low prices-​not very busy. I am disappointed at the level of customer service that I recently received 12​-22​-2013​.My 20yr old daughter (who is extremely difficult to buy for) had put 2 items on hold. They had told her 3days. So i went in on the 3^rd day and they tell me they could not find these items. So I left disappointed. The manager whom she had hold them for her was not working that evening. The store was not busy at all and maybe I expect more but I kInd of had hoped the lady behind the desk wouldve taken my name and # and checked into it more .With all the shopping we have in Vernon Hills I am going to avoid this store. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

This occupies what used to be a movie theater and has high ceilings with a warehouse tj maxx/​pier 1 feel. I am not sure what the business plan for this store is but it consists of a little bit of everything: clothes, home/​outdoor décor, kitchen ware, coffee/​snacks just to name a few. I have walked in a couple of times but have never bought anything. The store is neat/​orderly but feels empty as in there have not been more than 10 cars in the lot the times I have been there.

I’m a big fan of T J Max Home Goods stores so this store is right up my alley! Gordman’s has a bigger and alittle different selection and I couldn’t get over the low prices. Really nice things to decorate with that don’t look cheap. I haven’t taken the time to look at their cloths or jewelry sections yet but I’m getting to it soon. I do wish it was in a more visible place, I’m not so sure people know it’s farther back on the property. I really like this store.
