What a magical, bright and happy place! Owner, Barbara Khan, and her staff are instantly warm, welcoming and helpful! This is a children’s bookstore, but so much more! Barbara and her staff offer story times, themed parties, crafts, camps, and more.
Walking into the store, you are instantly enchanted with the orderly but exciting atmosphere. There are books, appropriate children’s activities, small gift items and more. You notice the story time area right away with its cozy seating on a lively, round rug. Book shelves are easy identified as baby books, read alouds, young adult books, etc.
The staff will kindly, and with a great deal of knowledge and experience, guide you to make smart choices, or if you prefer, they will leave you to browse and explore on your own. You’ll find favorite classic children’s books as well as award winning books and newer, current choices by exciting new authors. The staff is also happy to research and order books that are not currently on their shelves.

What a wonderful children’s bookstore. Jack and Allie’s has excellent special events and programming for children and their parents. Excellent selection of classic and contemporary children’s literature complete with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. If you have ever questioned the value of a brick and mortar store, a quick trip to Jack and Allie’s will make you call into question a children’s book purchase from
. Although the programming doesn’t always fit into a working family’s schedule, we still frequent the store as often as possible and value all that an independent bookstore has to offer. Books, puzzles, and other learning based activities are well organized by age and reading ability and «poking around» is encouraged, I have never felt pressured to buy anything but have always felt excited to leave with a newfound literary treasure!
