I gave this 4 stars primarily because of the setting, which is a stunning beach front patio. Their cocktail hour is legendary and crowded. As a result, it is often hard to get table service or another round of drinks, so double-up with your first order and get extra ice on the side. I am not a big fan of their food. When the wait staff is overwhelmed, so is the kitchen, in my experience. Indicating that booze is the main course(most profitBle) and food is the side show. But we go often, mostly shoulder or off season, when it is more civilized. Enjoy!

It’s hard not to love Cobalt. Located in the sharp, exclusive Vero Beach Hotel and Spa, Cobalt is one of the best restaurants on the Treasure Coast of Florida. The setting is spectacular. Imagine the following evening: you show up at 5:30PM for happy hour at the bar where wine and a selection of great appetizers are just $ 5 dollars. Following happy hour, you’re seated outside on the patio of the restaurant overlooking the Atlantic, just yards away. The candlelit table is beneath a grove of palm trees. The food is upscale, the wine list is excellent, and the service is equivalent. Following dinner, you decide to have coffee, dessert and a cocktail by one of the fire pits. There, you sit with the warm glow of the fire, the sounds and smell of the ocean, a delightful breeze and pleasant conversation on a unforgettable and nearly perfect evening.

Had dinner on the patio this evening. The ambiance is wonderful… sights and sounds of the ocean, warm breezes, good service. We ordered calamari as our appetizer, and it was excellent. My husband had to send his bourbon and ginger back because the ginger ale was absolutely flat. Not a bubble in sight. Our dinners(scallops and sea bass) were just ok, and that was very disappointing. We had to ask for bread and were served four small pieces, heated, of very ordinary bread. Coffee was fine… but $ 3.50 a cup. Come on, Cobalt. Will return for lunch. Dinner? Not so much.

I got a manhattan here during happy hour. It had almost no vermouth or bitters, and tasted severely watered down. I’d guess they used melted ice while making it. I could hardly taste the cheap(admittedly, that’s what I requested) Bourbon through the ice melt. Reminded me of unsweetened tea with a cherry in it. You’re paying for the atmosphere here, the bar program needs some work. Also got some sliders, they were good.

Sorry, I give it two stars only for the ambiance. My scallops tasted fishy. I don’t think I’ve ever had such sour tasting scallops. I give this place no stars for the food.

This has always been our go to restaurant for a special occasion & we went here last week for my husbands birthday but very disappointed. Their attention to detail has been lost. Our waitress made it clear she really didn’t want to be working, never removed the unused wine glasses, never lit the candle on the table, didn’t check with us after our food was delivered, many other little things. The menu is much more limited than in the past but food remains excellent. I emailed the GM but never had a reply.

I’ve gone here a few times for drinks and to relax on the patio(never tried the food). The oceanside patio has a couple fire pits that are perfect for sitting around on the milder nights whilst drink in hand. Prices are a bit higher than I’d like but the bar is inside a resort/spa so… what’re ya gonna do? Service is quick & friendly and handles the demands of a crowded bar.

Had lunch yesterday and was looking forward to since I’ve been here last in August.(Snowbirds) The food is still the same. Enjoyed it immensely on the patio. In addition to the menu you MUST ask for the«bar menu» and get as an appetizer or have as an entrée, The Crispy Fried Rock Shrimp with Apple, onion, cabbage, sweet chili sauce…(not spicy) phenomenal!!! Was sooo good, as was the 8 oz.(?) «sirloin» burger, cooked med. rate as I love. No one was disappointed with the food… BUTHAVETOTELLYOU, first time complaining here over the years. May seem petty but not. And it seemed like just us. Our lucky day, these things can happen. The WORSTSERVICE by this one particular waiter… didn’t know the name but he wore sunglasses and a lot of tattoos on the arms. Kept forgetting things, had to get his attention many times, he’d apologize and we noticed everyone after us were served. My sisters Crispy Fried Shrimp was COLD.(She never told anyone) Had to be just sitting there for some time. I had it as an appetizer and it was fine. Then the coffee came, no spoons or cream. After reminding him once it was another 15 minutes before we got them and the coffee was by then cold. I explained at this bill for 5 people not accepting cold coffee, the usual apology and in minutes had hot coffee arrive. It was just our lucky day, but after being seated it was 40 minutes to get the appetizer and over an hour and 15 minutes to get the entrees. This won’t happen again as we’ll avoid him. It was either his first day or he’s just bad or the chef isn’t crazy about him. That could screw you at the table. So beware of tattoos and shades!!! We’ll be back as we love the place, but not him waiting on us. I still tipped him, but 15% instead of my usual 20% …against my friends 10%…he still worked.

Fantastic Food! Cobalt not only has and incredible ocean front view, but probably one of the most interesting menus in Vero Beach. Went here for a special birthday dinner and my boyfriend. He had the tuna, which was excellent quality and great flavor and I had the brick chicken which was tender and delicious. Our server was super friendly and helped make the night very special. Can’t wait to return.

Sat outside on Sunday evening and waited 30 mins to so much as have a drink order taken. Not looking good. The place was mildly busy but not excuse for such inattention to service from this higher end place. The food was terrific when we finally got it… well, let me take that back. Most of it was good. My sister and i had a Lobster Roll and maybe it’s because I know what a New England lobster roll should be like. It’s one of those dishes that is simple… as long as you get the simple parts correct. Chunks the right size, the right roll, the right amount of mayo, the perfect butter grill, the right temp of the lobster(this one was ice cold… meh), the right amount and kind of seasoning(not much and only salt and pepper if any). This one was on a basic cheap, ungrilled, way to bready hot dog bun, ice cold lobster, doused in lemon juice. Good amount of lobster, but probably because it was too cold, not much flavor. I’d cut them some slack cuz, true enough, this is a long way from Cape Cod but OTOH, a high end place with a limited menu ought to know how to deliver something better than this. My sister said it was by far the worst service she has ever had there so maybe there were folk that didn’t show up for work but, again, a high end place like this should have been able to cope better that they did. To top it off, my wife went down after dinner to sit by the fire pit. They shut it off about 2 minutes after she sat down. Sheeeeesh!

I would have liked to actually sit down at a table at this place but never had the opportunity to do so. The 20-something hostess who was working on Sunday evening around 7:30 was so incredibly rude and arrogant. She told us that she could not seat us because it would back up the kitchen. There were clearly several empty tables but she refused to seat us. This place was recommended by a close friend who is a resident of Vero and frequents this place often but that changed last night. Why this place would hire such a nasty person with a bad attitude as a «hostess» is beyond me. Thank you Chris H for your quick response to my review.

The good: great ambiance, especially sitting outside. It’s right on the ocean and couldn’t be a better view for dinner. The wine list is extensive. The service is quick, courteous, and great. The bad: overpriced food. For what you’re paying, the price far exceeds the quality.

Always Wonderful. I travel back and forth to Vero often and Cobalt is always my go to spot. The food is consistently great and the service is always remarkably personable and well appointed. Obviously the view is second to none, but it is the great food and friendly staff that keeps me coming back.

DOWNWITHNEWCHEF. the one thing we have always liked is that Colbalt’s food is consistent… until now. Some things still ok. French fries WERE the best in down, now they are greasy, tasteless, overcooked like most places. the brussel sprouts USETOBE soOo yummy.. . BUT, Now they are deep fried, burnt, greasy & few for the price. WECOULDNOTEATTHEM. Be prepared to be disappointed. I asked what happen to the french fries and the brussel sprouts. We were told there’s a new chef. C L E A R L Y. Preferred the other one. Good Luck, they are inTICING you to come b/c of this new Chef. a little S C A R Y.

Came here for breakfast with my family on vacation. Service was pretty good, but I was unimpressed as a whole with the food. I ordered the ricotta pancakes and they were heavy and dense rather than light an fluffy. My mother in law ordered the regular pancakes and they were slightly better. I probably wouldn’t go back unless there were no other options.

Our hotel included continental breakfast at this restaurant. The continental breakfast($ 14.95) included coffee, juice, fruit and a pastry. Limited for a 5 star luxury hotel. Aside from the substandard breakfast, the service was awful. No greeting, the waiters were not on the same page, the hostess was unprofessional and literally screamed ‘I AMONLYTHEHOSTESS’ while slamming water on our table and telling us we could get coffee OR juice, not both. The service was unacceptable. Wouldn’t recommend.

Upper class, fine dining in Vero Beach Service was spectacular, had to get a table inside due to how hot it was For starter had the octopus, nothing out of this world, and would not recommend to order, very small portion plate, only 4 s pieces of octopus, not worth it! For dinner, well that’s another level I had the seared scallops on lobster risotto, although not the best risotto I’ve had, it was certainly delicious ‚ Had a side of truffle fries, which are a must try! Overall the restaurant was good when contested to the area Ps, if u buy a bottle of wine, u can take the glasses and the wine off to the beach

Cobalt is a real classy place to have dinner in Vero Beach. 1. The atmosphere. The hotel and restaurant are GORGEOUS. Well designed, expensive looking. We went on Christmas Eve(and a few nights before, but who is counting?) and the restaurant looked beautiful with a few Christmas trees and dim lighting. The first night we ate outside. You can’t see the ocean at night, but they have firepits that are fun to watch and hang out around. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous and comfortable. 2. The food. I really enjoyed what I ate. The scallops were so, so tasty. I’d also definitely recommend the farro salad. 3. The wine. Cobalt has a GREAT wine list. We sampled a number of wines over our two days there, and enjoyed all of them. I also ordered a sidecar from the bar, and the bartender happily told me I was the first person under the age of 60 to order a sidecar, which made me happy. #oldladypalette 4. The service. Both nights, the hosts and servers were excellent. We started the meal with complementary bread, and finished with a scoop of rum vanilla ice cream on the house. What’s not to like there? Cobalt is a great place for a date, a special event, or just a memorable dinner. I’ve also heard good things about hanging out and eating a meal at the bar. Can’t wait to go again when we come back to Vero in the future.
