This is an excellent bookstore! Staff is friendly– they have a great selection of books, toys and children’s items! If they don’t carry the book you need, they’ll order it for you. It really is just a lovely and charming place. Highly recommend. Support local businesses!

The atmosphere is a bit odd. Very bright when you walk in but a bit like being in a library. The prices are high. It is not very cool as another reviewer said and when I go in there seems to be a lot of unhappy angry old folk. The used book section above the children’s section is worth a look. Bit more character as one would expect. The kids section is dull and overpriced. Unlikely to buy anything here as you can get it cheaper elsewhere and online.

I was disappointed with this bookstore after all the glowing comments I was expecting much more. Don’t get me wrong, this is a very nice bookstore, and I applaud it for being able to survive as an independent, but it does not compare with other independents I have visited(eg Northshire Bookstore in Manchester, VT). So I give it an «average» rating. By all means — stop in if you are in the area, but don’t make it a destination. (I did not go into the children’s store)

This is a great independent bookstore that really offers a lot to its customers. I love the used book section located on the 2nd floor of the children’s building. They will give you store credit for bringing in your used books and you can use that credit in either the bargain section or the main store. The used section has an incredibly large section of fiction books, even very current releases, and most trade paperbacks are $ 5. The employees are extremely helpful here and based on the time that I have spent in the store, you can tell that the store has a very loyal fan base in the area. Don’t even waste your time at Books a Million.

Love this local, independent, family-run bookstore. They are super friendly — chatty when you want to chat, but won’t bother you if you just want to be in and out or you just want to browse quietly. Fantastic used book selection upstairs, and their children’s bookstore — which is in a separate building around the corner — is top-notch. The regular bookstore(non-children’s, non-used) is not particularly large but they’ll order anything you can’t find. VB Book Center, we love you, but what’s the deal with no seating? If you had chairs to lounge in(either inside or outside), I’d be here all the time. As it is, right now I only stop by when I have something specific I’m looking for.

It’s like most any bookstore, which is just okay, except that there’s no place to sit and read, so I would prefer Barnes and Noble or even the Books a Million. On the upside, they have bargain books; but on the downside of the upside, the prices aren’t that much of a bargain. And all you’ll meet here are the beach crowd. Not the sometimes-cool and often-sexy, beach-going crowd; the old-with-more-money-than-they-know-what-to-do-with-it-but-it-sure-as-hell-isn’t-going-to-some-stupid-charity-for-brown-people crowd. A little harsh? Yeah, a little harsh.

This is the BEST bookstore! It’s no wonder that the big box booksellers can’t get a foothold in the Vero Beach area. If the Book Center doesn’t have what you are looking for, they will get it for you — pronto!

Great bookstore — independent, local, a great change of pace from Borders and Barnes & Noble. Scooped some Christmas gifts and Chuck Klosterman’s latest for myself to read on the plane home.

Now THIS is the way a bookstore should be… Big enough to have lots of interesting books, toys, seconds, cards, calendars, but not SO big that you’re in the mall(the usual Florida way). The BEST personal help one could ever hope for: knowledgeable staff with service in mind. The Book Center has a loyal following of local folk who appreciate the personal service, the continual stream of author lectures and signings, and the quickest, most courteous gift wrapping this side of the North Pole… Try the Children’s Center out back for toys, books, and a huge upstairs of bargain basement books as well.
