Ace Hardware

I have received some great assistance here and some good prices. I suspect Farm and Fleet gives them some strong competition but I really don’t want to lose this hardware store because FANDF doesn’t cover some of the things these guys do. And they are smaller so I can find what I want much more quickly.

Great store. It is always bright and clean. You are almost always met by someone at the door to help you find what you want. Some like the big box stores, but they don’t hold a candle to Ace for service. Item for item, the prices are not that different. Support your local business!

I like this place.
I’ve stopped-​in several times, primarily for lawn care items and/​or painting supplies, and I’ve always been able to find exactly what I needed. The service is also quite good — the staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.
Take for example today… I had previously stopped at F&F, hoping to find top soil, clean sand, compost, and grass seed for my burned-​to-​a-​crisp yard. F&F was of no help — they were busy building «Toyland,» so I headed over to Ace.
Upon entry, I was immediately greeted and asked if I needed any assistance. I told them what I was looking for, and they led me to the lawn care area, where I found plenty of top soil, compost, and seed. They were out of sand, but suggested I visit Jung’s; turns out Jung’s had sand, and I appreciated their transparency.
The lady who assisted me also helped me select the correct grass seed and shared a few tips for my post-​seeding care.
The prices were more than reasonable — while visiting Jung’s, I noticed their top soil was almost twice the price of Ace’s.
