Not a big menu, but if you are hungry for real deal southern pork barbecue sandwich with coleslaw this is a great place to stop. A little off the beaten path but beautiful ride. The rest of the menu consists of basically a breakfast menu and variety of sandwiches. I’ll be back for the barbecue sandwich, for sure!

How can you not give Gertie’s 5 stars? A small little country store that represents whats best about Roadside America. Gertie’s offers a full menu of food as well as all the picnic/​camping needs you might need when heading into the forest. On our visit we had the BBQ Pork sandwiches, and a Hot Dog. The BBQ was a sweeter homemade sauce with slaw on top it was a very affordable and tasty sandwich. The Hot Dog was all beef, and enjoyable as well. Overall Gertie’s is a unique little stop with writing all over the walls don’t be afraid to dive into the great food cooking at Gertie’s!

On a road trip from CT to Tulsa and hadn’t eaten all day. Found this diamond before heading up to the Blue Ridge Pkwy. Outstanding service. Extremely friendly. BBQ samich was on point. I will make it a point to stop here again if I’m ever within 75 miles of the place again.

Stopped in because of Unilocal on our way to the in laws. The bbq was good, the burgers could have been cooked a bit less. But the star here was the chili cheese fries! I would have taken a pic but the fam hoverized them so fast there wasn’t time.
I asked for extra crispy, as I do for all fries. But even with the topping they were still firm and oh so tasty.
We would definitely go back here when passing through!

5 stars for what Gertie’s Country Store represents — rural America. We stopped in during a gorgeous bike ride around the Wintergreen area. Gertie’s is that little store in the middle of the country. Cinderblock construction, screen doors, low ceilings, fly strips hanging in various corners, coolers full of glass coke bottles, and those two 50+ year old women behind the counter.
They served up a big old plate of bbq with sweet potato fries to this tired cyclist and I cleaned my plate out of respect alone. Under $ 10 including tip.
If you expect white tablecloths and linen service, Gertie’s is definitely not your spot. If you want to experience a true Country Store, give them a try.
