Best burger I have ever had without question. One more reason to drive back to a very beautiful part of Idaho. Super friendly, not quick but so worth the wait. We had the burger that has pastrami and horseradish. We added grilled onions. I just ate and am getting hungry again writing about it!

A-Mazing!!! My friends and I each had different dish rather then burgers. one of them had a burger and he loved it. I had a Cajun chicken sandwich and it was so good!!! A local told us that this restaurant is a Must Try. Service was awesome and I love their quote on the wall by the kitchen. It says something like«this is not a fast food restaurant, but we will get it to you as fast as we can». If you stop by Victor ID, you must stop by :)

I love a good burger, and I love trying new places that claim to have great burgers. This is definitely in the top two burgers I have ever had. I go there every chance I get. If I were visiting Jackson, I would make the drive over the pass just to eat here. First off, keep in mind that this is a small establishment. If you are looking for a fast meal at peak lunch and dinner hours during the Summer, you will be waiting. It is worth it and there is a wait for a reason. Just know that their meals take a little more time because they are done right, and they are done fresh. I try to have a different burger every time I visit and I have not been even close disappointed. Their fries are hands down some of the best in Idaho, and everyone knows Idaho has the best fries. Pair with an ice cold 208 beer from Grand Teton Brewery, also one of my favorites. They are local and just up the road.

The food is alright I don’t trust the prep cooks. Rumer has it they tamper with the food then give it to the public

The burgers are crazy. When the sign said«This is not fast food, this is good food cooked as fast as we can.» The food is really good. I added an egg to the Crazy Brakman. WOW! This is a small locally owned burger grill that’s doing it right. Here’s my burger:

These burgers are the finest in the nation. So good that If I had a host of ghosts living on my street I’d jive and strive to stay alive and offer them some brakeman meat

Best fries I’ve probably ever had. This place is small but so good. Freshly ground meat, fresh veggies. Really worth eating here. If you aren’t in the mood for a burger, you will be limited on what to eat. Service was great! I hope to go back here on our next trip!

Such an awesome find! Best burgers in a 25 mile radius with tons of options to choose from. Offers beef, elk, buffalo and vegetarian burgers as well. Brakeman’s fry sauce is also amazing!

Gosh the burger was just amazing! I like to try it simple, without the plants and sauce, and it was seasoned so well, and moist, and hot off the grill. The fries are crazy good too, you may want to ask for half of the usual amount because they come out in a pile. Cute place, clean, warm and friendly staff. Good to go!

Amazing! These are by far the best burgers I have eaten. I have visited several times and cannot wait to return. Most of the burgers are double patties and the fries are delicious! There fry sauce is also very good. I never get fry sauce but I would recommend you try theirs. If you like your burger cooked a certain way, I would recommend letting them know otherwise you just kind of get what you get! the last time I was there, mine was medium and my grandma’s was more rare-exactly how we both like them but purely by chance. Service is friendly, pleasant, and efficient. Not a huge kids menu but it is very reasonably priced for the kids burger meal. As other Unilocalers have said-it is pretty small so not great for large groups but we had a group of 8 and we sat comfortably at one of their larger tables in the middle.

Charming local burger joint with great food. While there may be a line(people waiting to trying this great burger cuisine) — but well worth the wait. Salads solid and vegetarian burger hardy. Service great. After a long day of hiking — you will definitely good a great meal here.

Great place for a burger. It’s small so it might be hard for larger groups in but we got a group of 14 in with no issue. Staff was great, menu was great and the price was fair. The fries were some of the best I have had. Large selection of all types of burgers.

Pros: Really flavorful burgers; perfectly cooked and juicy — even the turkey burger and that’s tough to do. Toppings were just the right combination of flavors on all three burgers we tried. Fries were well-seasoned and plentiful. It takes slightly longer than average to get your order but they prep you for that and it’s well worth the wait. Welcomed the minute we walked through the door. Server was wonderful — friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Décor is spot on — warm and inviting. Children’s menu was extremely reasonable, though chicken strips would be a welcome addition. Clientele seemed to consist of older, moneyed outdoorsy-types and younger Pataguccis or hipsters. Clean. Convenient location. Plenty of parking. Cons: Absolutely did not enjoy going up to the counter and paying. The entire staff was crammed behind the small counter trying to do their business and it was not a welcoming situation to walk into. Even when the manager cleared his paperwork from the counter, there was no eye contact or acknowledgement that I was trying to pay and I wasn’t even sure who I was supposed to hand my credit card to. Luckily, my server was able to elbow her way through and help me. The restaurant uses a hand-held credit card machine: it basically offers you three tip amounts to choose from while your server stands there. Since tips are optional and should reward good service or withhold for bad, it’s kinda awkward and generally not cool to put your customers on the spot like that, even if the service was great and you would have given 20 percent anyway. Overall, a small complaint given all the pros. Summary: Worth a stop.

Oh my this place is amazing I love it so much! My mum, sister and I are driving cross country and stayed in Idaho for two nights, three days and we ate here twice! Needless to say I didn’t get the amazing«Crazy brakeman» the second time but you definitely have to try it if you only get a chance to go once! Oh and not to mention the fresh hand cut Idaho fries!!!

Came because of the great reviews and enjoyed it. I wouldn’t say the burgers arn’t something you couldn’t get at any good burger place but, I would say they are the best in the area. The kids menu is okay. Burger, grilled cheese or Peanut butter and nutella sandwich. Well when at a burger place one gets burgers even though my kids didn’t want them. The kids burgers are 2.5 ounces and come with cheese and pickles. We ordered them without the pickles and both girls ate every bit and the fries. So those were a big hit. Husband and I shared the Cajun burger. It came with pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, red onions, mayo and tomato. They did not ask us how we would like the meat. We normally order medium it came out compleatly cooked through but was still juicy and well seasoned. We enjoyed it. The fries are hand cut and fried perfectly. They make a fry sauce that has a bit of a kick. I normally do not like fry sauce but, this one I couldn’t stop eating. Overall this was a great hamburger meal. Everyone was satisfied and full at the end. We will return.

We were touring Jackson, Wyoming when we heard rumors from a local source that just beyond the state line into Victor, Idaho was an excellent backcountry burger joint that would fill our bellies with juicy fresh ground beef. The drive from Jackson through the pass is a treat in itself. The scenic beauty of the pass makes the 40 minute drive just long enough to prepare your stomachs appetite for the«crazy burger.» The fries were excellent on their own, no need for the special fry sauce. The crazy burger was comparable to the size of my beer. It was embellished with two patties, jalapeños, and caramelized onions to create a rhapsody of flavors that perfectly blend with each bite.

The Brakeman claims to have the best burgers west of the Mississippi which is clearly an exaggeration. Possibly they could have the best burgers in Idaho — though I can’t attest to that. Certainly they could have the best burgers in Victor — though I didn’t try any others in town. I’m a big fan of family run diners. So I was happy to come here for lunch. Even happier that since I was on camping time I was ready for lunch at 11:30AM. When my friends showed up at 12:30PM they ended up having to wait 2 hours to eat. Note: this place is super popular with both locals and tourists — especially tourists with large families in tow. You should probably go before noon if you want to avoid the wait. They offer ¼ lb burgers and ½ burgers. Since all their speciality burgers are ½ lb(double patties — not a bigger patty) we decided to split a burger between us. * The Yellowstone($ 10.95) — described as «Our Half Pound Burger goes Western! Here, it’s topped with Cheddar, the best bacon you ever ate and a touch of sweet BBQ sauce. Served with lettuce, tomato red onion and mayo on a bun with Hand Cut Fries.» It was no problem for the kitchen to split the burger for us. They brought out two plates with a half burger on each, held together with a fancy toothpick, and fries piled on the side. I liked how generous they were with the fries. When our food came out the waitress asked if we wanted any fry sauce. We didn’t know what it was so she explained it was a mix of ketchup and mayonnaise. What she didn’t explain was that it was an extra $ 0.50. Did not appreciate that ploy. Since we didn’t know we got some — it was good. Though the fries were good enough with just ketchup. The burger was good but not the best ever. Not even in the top ten. The toppings were good. It was the patties. I would have preferred to have one larger thicker ½ patty than two ¼ lb patties. Though I understand it might be easier for them to get consistent cooking that way. The biggest problem was that the meat was not that tasty. It was overcooked with no pink the middle. Juicy enough but not very interesting.
