My friends and I came to Jammin’ Java to see Aaron Carter. The doors were supposed to open at 6:30pm. We waited over an hour in a line that barely moved. We thought we were going to /suffer from frostbite, die from hypothermia, or catch pneumonia. Given that the frigid weather, the venue didn’t care to take that into consideration. They didn’t let people in until 7:45pm. Even after we entered the venue, we had to wait another 15 minutes before they would let us pass through the curtains and into the concert arena. In my opinion, it was pretty loud for a small venue for the opening act but they seemed to fix it in time for Aaron Carter. Being a claustrophobic person, I’m glad my friends invested in Premier Plus seat. While waiting for Aaron Carter, I ordered a Strongbow Gold Apple Cider, Spinach and Artichoke Dip, and Balsamic Chicken Salad. The Spinach and Artichoke Dip was light and could have used more salt. It was nice that there were served with tortilla chips. The Balsamic Chicken Salad consisted of baby spinach, sliced grapes, cranberries, and creamy, spiced herb chicken and celery salad not evenly tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette. I felt that the salad lacked greens and salad dressing. It was kind of sad that the salad had more chicken than baby spinach.

Great local Vienna, VA venue to hear live music. Some local but mainly traveling musicians. Affordable seats. Definitely a neighborhood gem!

Fun, intimate venue that brings in great musical talents that encompass most every musical genre. The dance floor is large but the seating near the stage is very. There is additional seating at the bar. The service is decent. While they offer a limited food menu, I’ve only sampled the beers. There is ample FREE parking out front. This is a great place to catch a live show in the ‘burbs.

Chill, music venue in Vienna with young, hip acts. We came on Saturday night to see Ballyhoo and it was definitely a young scene here. I’m glad the teens out in the burbs have a place to come and express themselves(says your mom). Pretty great beer list, not your usual shitty beer options; even has cider and Red Stripe. The space inside is pretty small and intimate so it makes for a more relaxing scene. I returned the next day for a morning coffee and was pleased to see they actually make gourmet coffees and lattes. I ordered my standard Iced Toffee Nut latte with skim milk and was quickly accommodated. They also had a church service going on there early Sunday morning. If only they knew of the shenanigans and heathens that filled the place only hours before…

I love seeing local music and I haven’t been very impressed with the shows Jammin Java has hosted. The lineups are too full, the shows run too long, and the bands are often not worth the drive and ticket price. If Jammin Java really wants to support local music, they should host an open mic night or a free daytime showcase. The local bands that choose to play Jammin Java are coerced into selling 25 – 75 «presale tickets» to friends and family for $ 10-$ 12 each. The bands receive NOPAYMENT for working for Jammin Java. Doesn’t seem right to me. If you really want to support local music and the venues that help artists, see a show at Galaxy Hut, CD Cellar, or your favorite band’s house show.

Jammin Java is pure awesome sauce for the burbs. Coffee shop and kids shows by day, bar, comedy, live music venue by evening. Great venue. Only problem, a lot of the artists I’ve never heard of because they’re up and coming so it takes a little bit of research to figure out what’s what. I usually check out the website from time to time, read up on the artists, listen to their music via youtube and figure out if I can vibe or not. Food and desserts are yummy. Great service.

I’ve never had problems with the night staff here during a show, but I’m really confused about the café. The phone message and hours on the door say they open at 3pm Monday — Wednesday. In fact, it says that here, too. I was excited to work up there after moving back from New York, having had a good experience working in the café last winter. But during this past month, I’ve gone three times and been turned away each time with«we’re not open until 5.» The last two people to tell me were a bit rude about it. I’m sorry I interrupted your cigarette break and pow wow with your co-workers. You seemed really busy. Unfortunately, in this case, third time was not a charm. I won’t be making any more attempts to give the café steady business. Caffe Amouri is around the corner and they play good music, too.

Wow what a great hidden gem! I am sad I have only found this place two weeks ago. You walk in to a bar style dining area and there are curtains to hid the stage area. The stage area is pretty big, they serve food there and during concerts there is only seating at the VIP area, but during comedy they set up tables and more seating. There are posters all over which gives it a really cool music coffee house vibe. I have come for a rock concert, which was really fun! We were standing towards the back of the crowd, but since it was not the busy it was pretty close up. I also came here for a late night comedy show. They had six acts and each one had me laughing. I am definitely going to keep the schedule up for this place and become a regular! The tickets are really reasonably priced so it is a great way to get out of the house without breaking the bank. So far I have not tried any food here, but I’m sure I will. They also have pitchers of water with cups out, which is really nice.

I have to admit, when my husband 1st told me that this was a major venue for shows, I was skeptical. Then I came inside. There is ample space for bands on stage, let alone for the audience that are there to rock out to them. They even have a little«VIP» section of tables by the bar for those that may not wanna deal w/the crowd. We’ve been here several times since moving here, and its never a bad time. Even when the band we’re coming to see cancels at the last minute because of a broken axle, never a bad time. If something like this ever happens to you after purchasing a ticket then you too will see how easy it is to transfer said ticket to another show. Have a question about ticketing? Just email them. They’re very good at responding. Starting from the bottom: Finding this place is super easy. They’re right on Maple Ave. And there’s more than enough parking. Their food is really good. Feeling nosh-y? Get the pretzel w/spicy brown mustard. Wanna eat substantially, but light? Grab a hot dog. Need a bitttt more? Make it two(and might I recommend the Reuben dog?). The bands they pull range from local to major radio play to «That person’s still playing out?!». They really do seem to cater to all types of music fans. And the sound in here is GOOD. Not too overpowering when a rock band is on, and really well balanced. The beer selection is excellent. They have ple-nty of local options, for you out of town band kids, as well as some national faves. And the prices can’t be beat. Look for the actual list of beers on the bar. They do their best to update them throughout the night in case they run out of anything. Then there’s the staff. There aren’t even enough words for how awesome these people are. And they always seem like they’re having a great time. We’re partial to the bar maiden stylings of Miss Katie, but you should all choose your fave. Can you tell that we’ll be back? If you see us at a show(we’ll be by the bar), say hi. Otherwise, tell the staff that«The Balls» sent ya!

I have to admit I kind of forgot about Jammin’ Java until they hosted a recent Unilocal event there. It makes me really excited to rediscover a conveniently located concert venue that doesn’t involve fighting for street parking. This weekend was a great example. We had friends over for dinner and left for the concert 15 minutes before the showtime. We had no traffic on the way there, pulled into one of the many parking spots, and were on time for the show. No stress! The venue itself is not as big as the 9:30 Club or even U Street Music Hall, so the bands coming through are not going to be playing on the radio, but you can occasionally catch some good folks here before they get big. It’s an intimate venue, and it’s cool that they have a raised platform with seating for those who don’t want to stand(and are willing to pay a bit more). I’ve subscribed to Jammin’ Java’s emails so I don’t miss the good bands that come through and plan to be back.

Went there once for an event. The bartenders were great and attentive. Very chill vibe. The place is small and I can imagine it gets crowded very fast. For the dancers out there… there is a small patch of wood flooring up by the stage for dancing at least :) One of the brothers who own the place even gave me two tickets to any show. Thats the kind of hospitality I like! :)

I love love love this place! It’s the best venue for seeing all kids of bands in a cozy atmosphere. You can stand right up front, close enough to see the musicians sweat and spit on the microphone, if you so desire… Just saw Authority Zero play there last week for about $ 15. Purchased a couple pumpkin ales(with brown sugar around the rim), had a pretzel with mustard, and had a grand old time ska dancing the night away! So not only can you come to JJ to listen to great local and national artists at affordable prices, you can also come here for one of the best cups of coffee in NoVA!

TOTALLY dig this place for a small, intimate show!!! I recommend getting a table if you can, so you can enjoy and not have to worry about having to get there early for a seat. you’d never expect this great of a place from a strip mall loc next to a mattress store! will be coming back.

Jammin’ Java is proof that you don’t have to know how to parallel park in order to see a great live music show(I can say this, I used to intern at the 9:30 Club and parking was my biggest issue even though I had access to the employee lot). I’ve seen Ballyhoo here about a bazillion times thanks to my reggae-rock loving friends and I’ve always been impressed with the intimate atmosphere, booming acoustics, and friendly bartenders slangin’ drinks at small town prices. It’s not just Bud Light either, they even have Red Stripe which is perfect for jamming out to our favorite island inspired tunes. Yeah it’s not the hippest, grittiest place in town but it’s in Vienna so what do you expect? For local and national performing acts, this spot can’t be beat. The best part is it’s just down the road from Amphora’s which is perfect for late night fried zucchini sticks after you’ve spent your entire night rockin’ out in the burbs.

This is an intimate music venue, kind of like The Birchmere in Alexandria. The front area has a bar and limited table seating. The separated back area is where the performance is. You can choose where you want to sit, but does not really matter where you are because you get an awesome view anywhere. Food: They have«gourmet’ hot dogs, which is basically hot dogs with toppings. They also have sandwiches and chili. They offer a combo, which you can get half a sandwich or hot dog with a cup of chili. I went with a turkey sandwich and a cup of spicy pork and tomatillo chili. The sandwich was typical, nothing special. The chili was not spicy, but had a good amount of pork and rice. It was also supposed to have black beans, but I did not see or taste any, which is great because I don’t like beans. Everything on the menu is about $ 10-$ 11. They have a wide selection of beer. My friends and I came here for a comedy show. The comics can be a hit or miss, but we still had a great time. It is a nice, fun place to hang out with friends. Everybody is so chill.

Came here for a small concert, and I’m surprised I haven’t been here sooner! There’s a front area that has some tables and a bar for you to order some food and drinks while you wait for your show seating to open up. Once you go to the main show area, there is plenty of seating for General Admission folks. You pretty much can’t get a bad seat in the house, which is what I like about this venue. Service is friendly and laid-back. It’s just a nice place to hang out. And yes, they do serve coffee.

I can’t believe it took me so long to go here! This venue has a wide range of events and performances. We were able to start off cheap last night by attending a free Comedy Open Mic. Seating opened at 8:00 and the show started at 8:30. What followed was over 2.5 hours of solid comedy. Generally, Open Mic nights can be hit or miss, but I really enjoyed almost every set. We managed to snag some food too while we were there. The bartender who took our order was over-the-top nice and was able to handle the crowds wonderfully. All of the food ordered came out quickly and was delicious to boot. The Ballpark Chili Dog was awesome and really hit the spot. The Brownie Sundae was more than even 3 people could hope to eat so share or risk getting some weird looks. They seem to have figured out what works for them(chili, hot dogs, sandwiches), and they are doing it well. Can’t wait to go back.

My first concert here on Sunday evening to see GB Parker opening for the Jill Andrews band. What a nice venue with excellent acoustics. There is a coffee shop and a bar area. You can set at a table and order food and beverage and watch a show. If you want to just sit in chairs and watch you have that option as well. A smaller intimate venue that is suitable for accostic solo acts or plugged in bands as well. I had see Jill Andrews the evening before open for the Avett Brothers and she just knocked me out. When I learend she was palying here, I just had to be here and I was so glad I was. Just a great all round experience.

I kinda would like to give them 1 star. On the fact that if word gets out of how awesome this place ACTUALLYIS, it may be harder to come and hear awesome music. I was first brought here by a friend like 2 years ago and was impressed with all the bands they have here.(There are tour posters plastered on the walls of the bathroom and outside) It’s going to be bands most people have never heard of… or at least bands you can add to your list of «Best Bands You Never Knew You Loved» and post their youtube videos on your facebook to impress your friends.(run-on sentence?) I don’t know why people bother rating this place on food(which it seems most of the negative reviews are about the food.) Seriously, come on. Music venues are not about the food. If you’re looking for good food, there are plenty of places around Tyson’s you can go. If you’re looking for good music, Jammin Java has it.
