First time dining here. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 7:20 till 9:15ish My waitress, Becca, was great, awesome & sweet. She made sure my water glass was always full & she checked on me frequently to make sure everything was ok. She made me feel like I was the most important customer in the restaurant, even tho she had other tables she was waiting on. She didn’t try to rush me out the door, because she thought I was taking up one of her booths. She was cute too, and had a beautiful smile. She brightened my day. Oh the food… It was good, large portions. I had the Fish & chips. Fish was good as well as the fries. But Becca is the reason I’m writing this review & why I’m giving it Five(5) Stars. I hope all waitresses would take a lesson from Becca on how to treat their customers. When I return to dine again at The Royal Diner, I will be requesting Becca as my waitress.

Terrible service, I come here all the time and get Alex but whenever I don’t the servers are so incompetent and lack any server common sense.

Me and my daughter ate here and the food was VERY good, but our experience was horrible. First, 2 waitresses came over to ask for our drink order and then neither one of them brought it. My daughter reminded me she ordered a lemonade, I finally had an opportunity to remind our«non-verbal waitress». We received her drink ½ way through the meal. When we were done eating and asked for boxes, she brought our bill she was looking up at the tv and said«oh wow fishing on tv and I’m going fishing this weekend» and smiled as if we had just conversed and walked away. My BIGGEST pet peeve at a food establishment is being ignored until tip time This is the most shocking part, we leave and go pay and we WAIT for a woman to cash us out as she looked up at us TWICE while talking to a co-worker. They laugh, she approaches us and I’m smiling for she was just smiling with her co-worker and with a blank no impression face asks for our total. I pay her, we leave. As I’m leaving I sarcastically say«have a great day,(I respond to myself) oh thank you, you as well» all while holding a door for a gentleman walking in. As he passes through she says HEYHEYWAITYOUDIDN’T PAYFORTHIS!!! Shamed for her high voice calling me, I go to her and say«excuse me», she says you owe us for a lemonade. I stare at her in SHOCK for it could have been dealt with IN A MUCHBETTERMANNER and she says«are you telling me you didn’t get a lemonade? I say«yes of course we received a drink, but I didn’t look at my bill to have noticed there wasn’t a drink included» WOWWOWWOW, I will NEVER return which is a shame for such GOOD food.

I always come to the Royal Diner at 1 – 2 in the morning and it never fails to amaze me. I normally get a cheese omelet with green peppers and onions, and it is always perfectly cooked, hot, and so good. I always want to try the deserts, but im always way too full afterwards! The staff is helpful, however they don’t check up on tables very often. But they are still very friendly, and very on top of drinks.

Excellent food and service! 5 star on service and you will never leave hungry. Always have food to take home left over.

Ate breakfast there this morning. Waitstaff was very good. However, the breakfast was inedible. The omelet, hash browns and toast all had a very odd taste similar to «rancid butter» for lack of a better description. Something is terribly wrong in the kitchen and needs to be looked at. Will not go back.

Carry-out ladies are inefficient and rude. They got my order wrong but I didn’t realize until I got home :(they couldn’t even smile or say hi. Common. Dine-in service has been ok so far and the food is good, what you’d expect from a diner. I’m sorry that a bad customer service carry out experience had to tarnish the rest of my dine in experiences.

Their website is absolutely atrocious. Their menu is not available anywhere else but the site and we like to know what we’ll eat before we get there to save time. In 2015 that hasn’t been too hard until now. Food is decent and they are one of the only places around that are open late.

We’ve visited about 3 times. It’s just okay. Pork tenderloin Medallions are NOT made of tenderloin. It’s a flattened pork chop, breaded with some very salty crumbs, and cooked until way overdone. They were bad. I sent them back, and asked for just grilled pork tenderloin. This time, I got the same meat w/o any breading or any seasoning, overcooked on the grill. I couldn’t even cut them with my knife, let alone chew them! The next visit, I had a Royal Philly Burger. It was pretty decent. And yesterday, I had a tuna melt on an onion roll, the operative word being ‘MELT’. It was a cold tuna salad sandwich on a cold onion roll with a cold slice of swiss. Also a FAIL. Why didn’t I send it back, you ask? I was with a party of 5, and if I had sent it back, it would mean it took me that much longer to eat my meal(I’m the slowest eater in the group). I’ve got it — how about MAKINGITRIGHTTHEFIRSTTIME??? Seriously, a Tuna Melt on an onion roll? Maybe the cook needs to be trained on how to grill a sandwich… and while you’re at it, take the word ‘tenderloin’ off the menu.

Was just here the other night and everything was great. I have been here a few times and always get the chicken Parmesan and it is amazing. Also there is a new waitress there Cathy she s great. She will make you feel very welcome.

Great«go-to-when-you-can’t-think-of-anywhere» restaurant. A lot of grey hair, so that tells you it’s reasonably priced, and a lot of… ummmm…“plus-sized” people, so you know the portions are large. The fish & chips are great… wifey and I get them almost every trip. My monster-in-law swears by the turkey rueben, and my man-child son loves the chicken gyro/wrap. Lots of fries(nothing special, Gordon Foods-type) but hot and salty they are good. Soups are always homemade, and the usual coney fare is present on the extensive menu.

Nice little diner. They forgot to give us some bread, but they gave us some when we asked for some. The Mushroom Swiss burger is pretty good. It was busy when we came in, but the service was alright. I would probably go there again.

(3.5 stars) Had the grilled chicken gyro plate with the chicken lemon rice soup and the flavored tea. Ordered up chocolate milk and a plate of fries for the kid. The soup was more of what I call a ‘gut filler’(not bad, but not excellent either). It came with a large bread/cracker basket that is a clepto-Grandma’s dream. The actual contents of that were meh(bread in the plastic wrap was pretty bland). I really enjoyed the chicken gyro for sure. Service from Kerri was friendly and spot on. Menu is pretty large so I would say stick to the more popular diner/Greek fare. Ordering Mexican in a place that isn’t a Mexican restaurant is probably not going to end well. Decoration/environment was nice. Bonus for the extra large booths. Bill was ~$ 15 before tip.

This is a great place to eat clean and staff is friendly and attentive. I ordered the full order of fish and a baked potato it was the best fish I’ve had in a long time. My friend ordered the new York strip steak well done and it came cooked perfect and it was so juicy the cabbage soup was very good and my friend had the chicken pot pie soup it was delicious. and we got carrot cake to go so if your looking for a inexpensive dinner that’s good I highly recommend coming here to eat!

Took my daughters to the RD for dinner tonight, they had asked to go to a coney, I should have found one. They both ordered breakfast for dinner, pancakes with chocolate chips. They were under cooked and overloaded with chips. For a 7 and 9 year old to not finish a pancake because it had too many chips in it says everything. I ordered the Royal Reuben. This 1 lb monstrosity was disgusting to say the least. The bread on the bottom was soggy and scorching hot. The corned beef was less than tender and overall a waste. Fries, unsalted and unseasoned, just a disappointment all around. We will not be going back. How they’ve made it 4 years in business is beyond me. On a side note, our server Renee was awesome, attentive and very good at her job.

This is the type of place where you’re always going to be satisfied with the food, but never blown away. For the prices it is very reasonable. There are issues with the service: if you ask for a minute to decide on your order you will get 10, you may find yourself asking for something more than once. Best advice I can give is don’t wait for the waitress to come to you — eye contact bordering on stalking is necessary if you need immediate attention. Its a diner. You will get a diner experience. You’re not likely to leave the place unsatisfied nor are you likely to leave feeling like you have discovered the mecca of Clarkston cuisine.

I hadn’t planned to go out for a meal, but I got a headache while I was out driving and needed to stop somewhere. I saw the Royal Diner with its crowded parking lot, so I figured it must be pretty good to have that many customers on a Sunday at 1pm. I wasn’t terribly hungry, but I wanted something healthy. I decided on the chef salad, figuring it would be the ubiquitous lettuce, with a few other veggies and shiny lunch meat. However, I was quite surprised & pleased to receive a decent sized salad with large chunks of cucumber, several grape tomatoes and REAL turkey breast — not the deli stuff. It really hit the spot. The accompanying pita bread left something to be desired, however; while it was warm, it was very doughy and tasteless, so I didn’t eat that.

Terrible. Absolutely dreadful. They have well over 175 choices of food, which in the restaurant business is a BIG red flag. The services was poor. My drink was refilled only once, during an hour and a half meeting. My salad was a handful if rotten iceberg lettuce. My fish and chips were soggy. My waitress was obnoxious and seemed like she hated her job. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone.
