Absolutely the best place to eat on Vinalhaven. I always come whenever I am on the island. My favorite item is the Turkey-Ham flatbread, which is the best sandwich I have ever had. Period! Due to my expanding waist line today I ordered a Grilled Chicken salad. Absolutely delicious. And yes, many places do screw up a salad. The menu is eclectic ad you always get a big portion. Only reason it didn’t get dive stars from me is the price for their seafood. The entire menu is pricey, but we are on an island I do feel I get my money’s worth. However I am looking at the price for a twin lobster dinner at $ 25.99. Being from Maine and knowing boat price, oh an seeing how they can get lobster across the street; that is a little overpriced. Still I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Keep up the good work, an I’ll see you my next time out!

I like the place for classic Maine/New England faire. Recently we tried the crab roll, which was good. Blueberry pie was just the right amount of sweetener. Heard the chowder and fish tacos are good. Right next to the inlet where you can watch the tide go in or out.

Just order the seafood chowder. I did, two days on a row. Excellent, rich and creamy, loaded with good fresh fish chunks and seafood. One cup is plenty for a casual lunch on the sunshine.

Had a lobster roll. It was good. Not knock your sox off but fine.

My wife and I have been coming to VinalHaven for 20 years. Much has changed during that time, but the Harbor Gawker has remained to place to go for consistently great food. The variety covers seafood, burgers, vegetarian, mexican, ice cream and probably more that I can’t recall. I have NEVER had a bad meal there and it is always a pleasure to be greeted by Lonnie who is the owner/chef. Going to the ‘Gawker is a must do experience for everyone going to VinalHaven!

The lobster roll was fine, the chowder was fine but the seafood basket was awful — i mean inedible. whatever they fry the fish in, tastes like paper towels and the shrimp had zero flavor. Just awful. sorry I wasted one of my few meals on vinalhaven at this place.

Good lobster and chowder, everything else nothing special, big quantities but definitely indifferent to poor quality. No table service but a nice view over the water,

Went there 2 times on vacation with family … Not bad but could be a lot better… Sorry Gawkers… wish I could have given you 5 stars but the party of five in my family all agreed it could be done better !!!

nice view, food is edible, forgettable. Just seems like owner does not care that much about things.

I must say, as weird as it is, that this place has some of the best quesadillas I’ve ever had. A little pricey but it’s an island, you expect markup.
