Craftworks

One of my favorite stores on the island and perhaps anywhere! The owners source a unique collection of American crafts that are not kitschy, they are gallery quality artwork. The selection is always changing and the owners have solid relationships with all of the artisans so be sure to ask about placing a special order. I have special ordered two items over the years and they always exceeded my expectations.

This is a nice little store in Oak Bluffs. There is lots to look at, but some of the same exact items you can find here in Western Massachusetts. Not too much Island made stuff, but the lady at the counter is nice and is proud of her shop. It is clean and organized. A good stop for gifts.

Craftworks has a lot of crafts. But sadly, most of them are not made on the island. You can find a lot of nautical themed jewelry, ceramics, graphics, along with colorful Sticks furniture, which is brightly painted in a folksy manner and features various quotes along with the cute art work.
There are also a ton of «Do Not Touch» signs all over the store. I have never seen more «Do Not Touch» warnings in one place. It’s quite unappealing.
Myself, I prefer buying craft items made on the island when I can, as there are so many talented artists here doing unique things.
You can’t miss it. It’s on Circuit, about ¾ of the way down on the left. Check it out when you want a blast of colorful craftiness cheering up your afternoon. Just bring lots of money and whatever you do, Do Not Touch.
