My biggest complaint was at check in I realized there is no elevator & I have some injuries that make stairs difficult for me & they couldn’t accommadate me with a 1st floor room. The lady at the desk was very nice & called the owner & explained my situation & they said no. Then proceeded to put me on the 3rd floor at the farthest room. The rooms are clean but extremely outdated. The pool is nice & clean. There is no ice machine. Also there isn’t individual thermostat control. Continental breakfast is pretty pitiful but the staff is nice. I wouldn’t stay there again.

Absolutely the worst hotel experience ever!!! I’m all for the B&B feel, but this suite was outdated from the top to bottom. And although management was cordial, they have rules as if you’re in a dorm or jail. It was our 1st anniversary and we couldn’t wait to get out of there. ~~WARNING~~ If you decide to stay, have low expectations. Oh and the breakfast was a joke.

I have no idea why the previous reviewers had such a bad experience. It seems the opposite of mine. My interactions with management were quite pleasant.(I did see a service dog while I stayed here, btw.) Pros: clean rooms, nice management, quick response when I complained of noise, management is proactive about maintaining a safe and comfortable environment, rooms had no bugs and no smoke odor, walking distance to boardwalk and beach, clean pool, easy parking, continental breakfast. I politely complained about noise and management took care of it ASAP and asked the family to pipe down, and then asked them to leave the next morning, and offered to make things right with me immediately. Cons: central air means it can be quite cold for some people like me but they brought me blankets fresh out of the dryer when I asked, walls are super thin and it’s so close to entertainment that you can hear kids screaming on the rides pretty late. There were some homeless people sleeping in the offsite parking lot. On my last full day I found a shirt hanging next to my shower but it wasn’t mine. How weird! This was my first trip to Va beach and unfortunately it rubbed me the wrong way. So many visitors want to trash hotel rooms and be disrespectful. I could tell management works very hard to keep this as good of a place as possible. There were a few people who got kicked out while I was there because they broke the rules(no rowdiness, no smoking in rooms, no extra overnight guests). But I won’t be returning to this beach. Not because of this hotel but because of the few too many drunks and rude tourists I encountered. I think I need to go to Delaware or North Carolina.

I wish I could give this shit hole a –star… First and formost… They violated my civil rights by straight up refusing me service because I have a service animal… I understand they have a 20 lb pet rule but my service animal is my lifeline… He’s a dog(breed doesnt matter) anyways… I just filed with the DoJ and it’s not my ass that’s going to have to pay a hefty fine… Long story short i just downloaded the Unilocal app and I see this place(and Tina) have been nothing but pains in the asses for people(i’m a disabled Iraqi Freedom Veteran)… So who in there right mind would even think about booking this sorry excuse for an Inn? If you do, be warned it will be all bad for you DONTDOIT! Take your business elsewhere where you’ll be treated fair and courteous…

**SCAM** Do not book here! Extreme disrespect to both active and veteran servicemen. This has been one of my worst experiences and never have I observed both active and veteran servicemen so poorly treated. The hotel manager Tina is one of the most disrespectful and conning business women I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. We booked a room for 3 nights for the forth of July and followed all rules of the hotel. We had read the many negative reviews of this hotel and should have been forewarned of the nature of management for this establishment, however in poor judgement we decided to book. from the onset Tina made us feel extremely uncomfortable and excessively intrusive. We had an uneasy feeling that this stay would not be smooth from her comments and inappropriate obtrusive surveillance. Secondly the demeaning and cruel nature that management(Tina) spoke to her staff(many from diverse backgrounds) was truly uncomfortable to observe. I have never experienced such blatant disrespect with Tina demanding our eviction enforcing ‘private property’ with police called the moment we requested a refund. We felt scammed and victims of a con artist wanting to turn over and double sell our room, for the busy July 4th. Tina labelled our guests both active and veteran servicemen as alcoholics and of poor character. We understand that this hotel will respond with a cookie cutter response of ‘management reserves the right’ however we truly appeal that you consider other establishments in Virginia beach whom respect our active service men and the sacrifices they have made for this country.

For the price and the location the Alamar Resort Inn simply can’t be beat. My roommate and I stayed here for three nights during our girls’ weekend in VA Beach, and we were immensely happy with everything. The owner was extremely kind and made sure we knew about all the amenities on offer. Our room was very clean and in a shaded part of the building. It was so nice to be able to sleep in a little later than usual or come back to a darker, cool room for a nap in the afternoon. We also each had our own queen size bed, which for the price of our stay was wonderful. Most other hotels at the same price point offered one double bed for two guests. In the morning there was a free breakfast with waffles, cereal, toast, some fruit, juice, and coffee. In the afternoons we enjoyed laying out by the hotel’s saltwater pool after we’d gotten tired of the rather hectic atmosphere of the beach. The hotel itself is located three blocks from the boardwalk on the relatively quiet 16th street, so getting around isn’t a problem. We felt safe in the area the entire time we were there. I’ll definitely be back next time I need a summer hotel in VA Beach.
