The antipasta salad was unbalanced howerver plenty of meat and cheese and olives. Needed more vegetables

I don’t know why I haven’t written a review before now since I’ve been going to Aldo’s for yesrs. They always have consistently good food. But I must say my two favorite things are their thin foccasia bread and the silky crème brûlée. The waitstaff are always pleasant knowledgeable.

This place is amazing. Our server Owen is the man ! He was a pleasure and hands down the best server I have ever had at a restaurant. 100% would recommend this place to anybody, even though a little pricey the quality of the food is beyond the price. 5 Stars !

It has been a long time since we’ve eaten here. We had forgotten how classy the place is and how varied the menu. Christopher, our server, reeled off a long list of both app and entrée specials, all sounded delicious. I settled on the calamari which was pretty good. My wife had the zucchini fritti which was delicious; battered, fried julienned strips of zucchini. There were too many to eat so we boxed some to take home. My wife had the Penne Mediterranean and I had the special, red snapper. Both were very good. Christopher was very attentive and paired a great Sauvignon Blanc with the snapper. We will make sure we make a return visit sooner rather than later.

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch today with my mom. We had a wonderful waiter named Owen, he really made the experience for us. I got the Shrimp Gorgonzola and the peach cobbler dessert. Both were delicious!

Why did I wait so long to try this place? I definitely won’t be waiting that long to come back! As you walk in, you are greeted by a very impeccably dressed man(yes, I love it when people have suits that are actually tailored). We had reservations, so I was immediately seated. As soon as I sat down, I was greeted by Christopher. I asked him for a recommendation for a red blend and he did not steer me wrong. Christopher is a level one sommelier and he’s working towards his level two. It was nice to chat about different wines and have someone that actually knows what they are talking about! When he served my glass, he was actually holding it the proper way and didn’t have his hands all over the glass, but by the stem! I was also informed on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 5 – 7 for $ 15 they do a wine tasting with some hors d’oeuvres. I will definitely be checking that one out! I have it on my calendar as a standing appointment! While I waited for my guest to arrive, I took in the ambiance. This place is quite classy. The entire staff is wearing all black, which I feel is very sophisticated. I had always thought the dress code was more upscale, however, jeans are allowed. Their dress code stipulations are no athletic wear and no ball caps. They have large round tables for larger parties, which seem to accommodate the space a lot easier, as opposed to a long table. You get to enjoy everyone’s company at the table and it feels like a Sunday supper with the family(well the family that you actually like :)). Oh my word, everything on the menu sounded so delicious. I was going for the tortolloni(Brandy cream sauce, yes please), however, their daily specials were what got me hooked. I was fortunate to have the lamb chop lollipops with roasted fingerling potatoes and asparagus. The lamb was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Yes, I admit, I picked up each bone… not classy, but so did not care! The asparagus was seasoned with garlic and it was so delectable. Yes, I ate every single morsel on my plate and almost picked up the plate to lick it(yeah, another classy move). My friend got the stuffed veal chop. This was a massive cut of meat. It was stuffed with mozzarella cheese. When it arrived at the table, it was oozing out and it just smelled amazing. For dessert, we shared crème brulee and tiramisu, heavenly! A perfect end to a perfect meal!

Excellent place for Italian food. Excellent service, mike out server was really attentive, had great feedback on the food options and very patient. We were celebrating a friends birthday… Will comment on a couple of dishes. My gf ordered the veal and it was excellent, tender and soft, the sauce was outstanding. I had lamb chops which were very nicely cooked, but lacked some sauce. The side of free beans were outstanding. Daughter had ravioli that was customized w pesto sauce and she loved it.

Been coming here since I was a baby. They treat us well! Came with my husband and my dad on Saturday night. We had the shrimp gorgonzola and clams for starters, both were pretty good. The gorgonzola sauce was SO good with the foccacia bread dipped in it. I got the lobster special, it was very good, albeit a little strange because it’s eggwashed first so it looks deep fried but it’s quite good! Honestly though, nobody at the table cared about what we ate until dessert for Aldo’s famous Napoleons! My husband talks about them nonstop so we got 2 for the table, my husband had one all for himself. So delicious, light & fluffy!

The food, ambiance and staff are all great here. The first time I came it was during the week at lunch, so I sat at the bar and had some wine and linguine with clams. Unbelievably good. The bar manager was waiting on me and she is great. A few locals came in for lunch at the bar during that time and were very friendly to chat with. The bartender said happy hour can get crowded but it’s a lot of fun and there are a lot of locals that frequent the place. The second time I visited the restaurant, it was date night with my husband on a Saturday. We had a reservation and had a great table towards the piano in the back. Service was good and the place got packed around 8pm. We were leaving just as the piano started up thank goodness because it would’ve been hard to talk over that since we were so close. Overall, I love this place and I think it’s one of the best Italian restaurants in the area!

Had dinner at the bar and ordered the Chicken Tivoli which is prepared with marsala wine, raisins, pinenuts, sundried tomato. It was very good except for the raisins which added a unusual flavor and sweetness to this dish. In my opinion marsala wine is sweet enough so replacing the raisins with capers would balance the dish. Ok, enough nitpicking — the place is very nice and the other house favorites on the menu sound very good. It would be a good place for a special occasion or celebration. I am looking forward to going back with my girlfriend and upgrading this review to 5 stars!

Came here for work Christmas party. Was expecting so much more. The food was average. The service was average. The drinks were good. The drink had had these cool ice cubes infused with juices and fruit and mint. The steak was not that great and there were 2 pieces of asparagus which was actually really good, but 2 pieces??? Just seems way overpriced for a mediocre experience. Glad I wasn’t paying.

The Veal Parm and Linguine Alfredo just great! Service spot on and well spaced. Aldo’s is great for date night or any special occasion!

My husband made reservations for Valentines night and I was absolutely floored by this place. Everything was amazing! The hosts were very friendly and courteous and our waiter, Stephen, was the best! My husband and I were probably the youngest people in there that night but he wasn’t condescending at all towards us(many people are) and throughout the night was attentive and very thoughtful. I hope his service is recognized. The lobster raviolis with crab meat on top was seriously the best meal I’ve ever had. Hands down delicious! My husband enjoyed his chicken marina and we both ordered yummy desserts with a cute v day message on them! Our night had no flaw here. I even got great parking! My night at Aldo’s was the best experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Definitely worth the money.

As most people who have gone here can attest, the food is incredible. But sometimes when you see the entrées, you get blinded to some smaller dishes that you really should not miss. In this case, it is their soup. Their soup of the day was minestrone. It was rich and hearty in a way that was unexpected and greatly enjoyed. From the almost stew like consistency to the mix of beans and terribly soft, but not mushy, onions, it turns the pedestrian soup into a perfect example what a traditionally grounded but adventurous restraunt Aldo’s can do. My wife had the Lobster Francaise and it was wonderfully tender and paired perfectly with the lemon butter capellini. If you are looking for a perfect intimate atmosphere and incredible food, this is your go to spot

Our server was Steven, he was adorable. Not only did he give the specials with ease, he was the right amount of attentive and didn’t get into personal stuff. I hate it when serves tell you their life story, I don’t care! Just bring me food please. Anyway, it was a Friday night, and it was busy, but the food came very quickly and was AMAZING! I got the ROMANELLIALLAVODKA, and I got that because someone posted a pic of it here. It was delicious, the right blend of cheese in the pasta, the right amount of sauce, and even the right amount of shrimp. It was wonderful! My date got a special, I don’t recall what it was, but he said it was delicious as well. The place itself is very nice, very clean, very professional. They even had a man playing the piano, in the back room, which was a nice touch. All of the staff I encountered were polite and dressed impeccably. I will definitely go back, have to try more things on that menu, which was pretty hard to pick from, then the daily specials… it took me a while to choose, but I went with the one that had been recommend.

After several months of living here in Virginia, this restaurant was recommended to me by my managers at work. I was looking for a nice Italian place to have dinner to celebrate my husbands graduation from one of his schools. Made reservations upon my manager’s tip. Had reservation at 7:30 but got seated around 8. It was a packed Friday night. Décor was beautiful. It was a very lively place with good lighting, the music was not loud which is a plus. They had a bar area were we sat until our table was ready. Martha was our drink server. Food was great I had the pescatore which was amazing especially for the seafood lovers. My husband had the Romanelli Alla Vodka and he loved it. They brought out this flatbread as one of the appetizers that tasted good. We got the Napoleon dessert to-go and it was divine! Service was phenomenal. Robert was our waiter and he did a good job with telling us the specials and even giving my husband his recommendation for wine based on the dish he had. I wish I could remember his name but one of the managers came to our table and refilled our drinks and I saw him helping out the busboys get a table ready. I love seeing the cooperation and the proactive-ness that this guy had. I work in the customer service field and seeing managers working with their crew is great to see. So big props to him! Can’t remember if his name was Tom or something around those lines! But thank you Aldo’s for a great experience, I will definitely come back again and bring my in-laws who are in love with great food and a great atmosphere!

By far, this is one of the classiest and most sophisticated restaurants in Hampton roads. Hands down, the entire place looks incredibly amazing. The interior is spot on. The whole settings of the restaurant from the entrance to the main dining is flawless. I like the arrangements of the table and chairs and how its divided from family to group set up. Without a doubt, this place is ideal for any special occasion such as date night, anniversaries, birthday, thanksgiving and graduation. I think what dree me in most was the customer is the intimate ambience of this place that gives a relaxing feeling. I can easily give a five(5) star ratings to this place becsuse of the whole outlook of the restaurant not to mention the spectacular customer service. I admire the positive attitude of the staff and how they interact with their customer. I applaud the professionalism and attention to details that they showed, it’s evident because their knowledgeable with the product in the menu. Also, I have to commend the positive spirit of the staff, they’re warm, welcoming and have an infectious smile. I hate to do this but I gotta be honest and how I feel about the food. I thought it was average. Yes, it was seasoned well and beautifully presented but its lack depth and proportion. It seem so good to be true. The description in the menu was incredible but I was dismayed that it didn’t quite deliver. One thing that I have to applaud with this place is by using a fresh ingredients, the food is properly well done. As much as I enjoyed the ambience of this place I just hope that the food was good as the hospitality service. I wouldn’t rush myself coming back here.

Fiancé brought me out for dinner on a Monday, and my oh my this place was DELISH! Our server Mike, was beyond the best server i’ve ever had. He was very knowledgeable of the menu, and detailed about the specialities. The entire staff was nice, friendly, and food service was quick. For Starters we ordered there Prince Edward mussels for an appetizer and it was over the top. You can tell the food was fresh, unlike some places where they serve frozen mussels on the menu. I had the white wine sauce with them, and they were amazing. We got the veal, romanelli, and a chicken Caesar salad for dinner. Everything came in a timely fashion, and tasted beyond this world. The romanelli was probably the best pasta i’ve eaten in a while. Just a hint, if you don’t want shrimp then you could sub for chicken if you like. This place is a must try if you like Italian food, get out of your comfort zone and make a reservation!

I love Aldo’s. We’ve been here a handful of times and it never disappoints. We’ve dined on regular days, and twice during restaurant week. Our most recent visit was last night — this is where we celebrated Valentine’s Day 2015 — a romantic dinner for two. The place is pretty — classy feel, complete with a piano and pianist. I loved the songs played last night — Close to You, & John Legend’s «All of Me.» There’s a see-through, glass enclosed wine cellar which is cool because I had the perfect view of it from where we were sitting last night.(See my pics.) Staff is always friendly. Our waiter was very attentive. The food is so superb. We both ordered the Romanelli a la Vodka — Romanelli pasta stuffed with Fontana, Ricotta, & Parmesan Cheese, topped with tomato Vodka sauce, prosciutto, & large shrimp. Every bite was perfect. I also had a ‘cranberry something crush’ drink. It was good too — really strong. And of course, we could never come here and NOT order a Napoleon for dessert. I do have to say that the price of the Napoleon definitely went up from the last time we were here. $ 7.50 for one. I know it has definitely gone up at least a couple bucks from the last time we came here. Price went up and size went down. That’s the economy for ya. Still as delicious as ever though. Always a great dining experience here. Definitely a fan. :)
