Awsome place, went there today with my son who is 12 had a great time. Shot my AR-15 for the first time had to get it sighted in and the range master(Mike) took the time to help align the scope. We were shooting at 100 yards. Mike really took the time to make sure it was right. He even came out with a tripod and a range finder that made it a lot easier. I would definitely recommend this place, if it’s your 1st time going allow about 10 – 15 minutes extra for the waiver paperwork. They also have military, EMT, Police, etc. discounts too. Awesome job to the staff, keep up the great work.

I come here often, as a matter of fact I’m considering a membership. This place has by far the best outdoor range in the area. Great deals for active duty as far as membership goes! Also, it’s cool to see a shooting range that is class 3 friendly. Highly recommended!

Long drive but worth it not to have to be enclosed inside. All you want and Mike is the most friendly and most helpful RSO in tidewater. Weekends gets crazy but on a friday you can go from 100 yd rifle, to 50 yd pistol, to close range pistol on metal to back with NOBODY in your way and cold times are maybe 10%…ammo and targets as cheap as buying on your own.

Really great place. The price is decent and their range options are outstanding. With a 25, 50, 100, 200, and 300 yard range, you can enjoy it with either handguns and rifles. You’re allowed to shoot anything smaller than a .50 cal. The only negative is that they don’t rent out guns, and there’s a moderating lengthy test before you can use their facility. I pass it with flying colors the first round, so no worries, just basic weapon safety stuff.

I’ll keep it simple: C2 is easily one of the most professionally run ranges(outside of a military range) that I’ve had the pleasure to use. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful and the facility is very well maintained. Loses a star for the drive and no weapons rental(but spotting scopes, lead sled, etc. are available for rent). Ammo and shooting accessories are available for purchase. Military discount too.

Alright 4 stars, only 4 for 1 reason but I’ll save that for last.(scroll down to the bottom if you really want to know right now) This range is an hour drive from Norfolk. Even on a sunny day there is enough of a breeze to cool you down but not enough to ruin your shots. I brought my own ammo but still asked prices of their ammo. it was 2 – 3 dollars lower than some of the other popular gunstores around norfolk and virginia beach. I brought my .357 magnum vaquero and .308 gunsite scout. The steel range for pistols was fun but I went here to test my rifle at 100 yards. I tried my rifle at the 100 yard range with a 1.5−4×20mm leupold scope. The scope is just enough for that range but a spotter scope is a must and C2 have spotter scopes for rent at $ 10. Whether you go here for pistol or the rifle range you will have fun but trying both is even better. The staff are all friendly and helpful and safety and customer service is their #1 concern. Now the reason for only a 4 star is. Yes I know this range is in the middle of a rural agricultural area with lots of trees, and that is fine. But in the parking lot there is a dumpster sized industrial waste contained with an open lid in the parking lot. ANDYESASWEOPENEDTHECARDOORSITSMELLEDLIKESEWAGE, MANURE, FECESANDROTTENFOOD. When a random breeze goes different directions you can smell it sometimes even when you’re on the range. Don’t make this the reason not to go here cause I’m not sure if that container is always there or if the smell is always there. Hope its not. cover your nose. and enjoy shooting! P. S. They have free C2 shooting stickers at the counter! +1

Very good outdoor range. Range masters are very well trained and will offer advice if asked. This place is huge and there was plenty of room for everyone. Would defiantly recommend checking this place out.

You can fire anything under .50 cal here. If you have a semi-automatic shotgun you can fire it here. Ranges vary from 25 yards to 500 yards(bring a spotter) and there is a steel range where you can rapid fire your handgun at four stationary steel plates at your discretion. The only downside is that you can’t purchase or rent firearms here. The range is utilized by enthusiasts and various law enforcement agencies. It’s also entirely open air, so if you visit during the winter, bring gloves and bundle up. Oh, hip or holster shooting is allowed here with clearance from the range masters. Paper target areas utilize 30 minute«hot» and 10 minute«cold» periods. You can set up at multiple stations depending on availability and you can shuttle from station to station during the hot periods. I’ll be member soon…

Well, they don’t return calls, they don’t answer e-mail, and they don’t have enough information on the web page to know what you need to know. So after my sons and I wasted an hour and a half on a round trip, I’ll tell you since they cant be bothered to answer questions or spend a half hour to put it on their website. They do not rent firearms. When I asked why the information was such a secret, they threw their boss under the bus. there lots of stuff they have asked to be put up there, which«the boss» has apparently ignored. Might be a good range, but because they have wasted my time, I’ll take my business elsewhere.

My buddies and I know of four ranges on the southside, and having visited all four this is the only one we go to anymore. Yeah, it’s beyond the boonies(almost to North Carolina!), and range time costs a few bucks more than at the ranges that are in the urban areas, but we all agree it’s worth the drive and the cost, for several reasons. First, the facility itself. It’s an outdoor range — no buildup of smoke smell, and it cuts down on the noise. Plus it’s nice to be outside. Then, the facility’s big. Instead of a cramped, poorly lit lane where you’re trying not to step on or knock over your stuff, you’ve got a wide table to shoot from(and they provide bench rests), and your target’s lit by the sun. There’s a lot of shooting stations — I’ve never had to wait to find a spot, even with 15 or 20 cars in the parking lot — and they’ve got everything from a 25-yard pistol range up to a 300-yard rifle range. Yeah, there’s another range in town that lets you bring rifles, but it’s a 25-yard indoor range and you have to buy their overpriced ammo(C2 lets you bring your own ammo). Now, you’ve got to demonstrate good grouping at 100 yards to be allowed to shoot at 200 or 300 yards and I think those distances cost more(I’ve never used them), but still — that’s nice. They’ve also got a separate area that they use for group instruction, but I think your group’s got to be police or military or something like that in order to use it. I’m not certain of that, though. The second great thing about C2 is the people. Unlike at most ranges and gun shops in Hampton Roads the employees of C2 don’t cop an attitude when you pay, say what you want, or ask them questions. They don’t act like the Soup Nazi, Douglas Neidermeyer, or a Vogon when they’re enforcing the range rules. They’re helpful, they’re friendly, and as long as you’re being safe with your weapon and not being a jerk they’re downright nice and laid-back. C2 also tends to have good folks there shooting, and the fact that the outdoor format forces«cold» periods where nobody’s handling a weapon means you have an opportunity to talk to them: a much friendlier atmosphere than other ranges have. Plus, nobody’s put up big gaudy signs spouting obnoxious political slogans, and I appreciate that. The only signs are advertisements for businesses, products, used guns for sale, or shooting-related events, which is fine by me. Now, this place is nothing but a range and training facility: there’s no gun shop attached to C2. The only physical objects they sell besides targets and ammo are a small, small handful of accessories and apparel: a few slings, a few bags/cases, maybe a scope or two. And because C2 doesn’t sell guns, as far as I can tell they don’t have range rentals: it’s strictly BYOG. Besides how long the trip is to get there, that’s really the only negative I can think of for C2, since it’s nice to be able to «test drive» a new gun or cartridge with a range rental. So, C2: an excellent range, and my friends’ and my choice of where to go when we want to shoot the breeze while we shoot holes in paper.
