Good times… Thanks for good service. Love the Va beach oceanfront. Being a Va local I’m proud of our beaches.

Should have listened to the locals. Valentine’s dinner was a disaster. We were a table of 10. SERVICE… ok bread comes out with dessert really DRINKS…watered down . AMBIANCE…if you like being seated near the door where employees go in and out and having 25 degree weather hitting you every 20 min. Is your idea of a good table then good luck FOOD… The only good dish was the beef. I guess the scallop guy was on strike that night, scallops that are cut in half to save on food cost is embarrassing. 3 gnocchi for an app and served cold I guess the gas bill must of not been paid. Velvet cake was so dry it turned to dust when the fork hit it. Manager never came by once… I guess they make enough money off tourists to hold them off until season rolls around again. Save your money… and listen to the locals

Absolutely terrible service and the food was just ok, especially for $ 200(for two people)! We wanted to really love this place but ended up hating it. For our first time visit we made reservations for their special Valentine’s Day three course semi-fixed menu dinner. When we arrived at the restaurant we were seated promptly at 7PM. Our waiter(Mike) did not arrive to our table to take our drink order until around 7:15PM. My wife and I ordered drinks off of their regular bar menu. I tried to order one of their signature Hendricks Snap Pea martini’s again which I had tried to order a month earlier when we stopped in for drinks, but they were out, again. While I decided on a different drink, the waiter brought out my wife’s drink and I settled on a draft beer. Time now 7:25PM and we are finally ordering our meals. We both ordered the pleasure house oysters on the half shell for course number one. For the main course my wife had the brown butter basted Chesapeake rock fish and I had the Lobster Claw and Cherrystone Clam grits. For desert my wife ordered the Red Velvet Cake and I ordered the Chocolate Marquis.(I forgot to mention at this point the waiter had forgotten to bring our the complimentary warm bread and butter which all of the other tables had received.) The oysters were really good small/medium sized oysters, three oysters each, and arrived at the table around 7:40PM. At 7:55PM I enquired about our missing bread and it showed up 1 minute later. At about 8:00PM our main courses arrived one hour after we were seated. They both were very good, not excellent though. Usually if something is excellent the first bite makes your eyes roll back with joy and flavor, neither of these dishes had this effect. My biggest complaint was the quantity of seafood, or lack of seafood. I had a total of two small bites of lobster and three very small clams, total of five«bites» of seafood on top of grits with a tasty sauce. I expected more seafood for $ 75 per person at a seafood restaurant. My wife’s rock fish was an average 4 to 6OZ serving and was ok. Now desert. The waiter messed up again. He brought two Red Velvet Cakes. We finally straightened my desert and the he swapped it for the Chocolate Marquise. The Red Velvet Cake was bad, it was very dry and my wife could not finish it. The Chocolate Marquise was just ok and I have had much better at other restaurants. After desert you would think the poor service would be over. Actually, when the bill arrived I noticed that we had been charged for the Martini which they did not have. The waiter quickly corrected the bill, we paid and left. The restaurant did not appear to be that busy. In fact, with the limited menu and reservations only, you would think it would run easier than it did. It was a screw up from the beginning. Our waiter seemed not quite there and was not very attentive at all. I have no problem spending money on a great meal and nice experience. We have done it many times around the world. However, at $ 200 a couple this place was a rip off and I will not recommend it to anyone.

Most excellent pre-Valentine’s Day lunch at Catch 31! The bookbinder soup is out of this world, and the salmon, lettuce, and tomato(SLT) sandwich was terrific. Our waiter, Terrance, has tons of personality, and the manager, Matt, made sure everything was to our satisfaction. More than satisfactory, it was excellent and is highly recommended from this local resident.

Tried this place out on a Friday night. Did not have to wait for a table, which was surprising. Very cool ambiance and décor. The food however, was overpriced and unimpressive. We had calamari for our appetizer, nothing special. My wife chose the blackened tuna filet, which she liked. My daughter had the lobster ravioli, again, nothing special. I had the beachcomber, which included a crab cake, salmon filet, shrimp, and oysters Rockefeller and a side of broccolini. The best thing on the plate were the oysters. Nothing else tasted fresh. There are plenty of other local establishments doing it better. I won’t be back.

Not what we expected. The view of the Atlantic was the best part. The swordfish was too salty and had to be sent back, the server Nicole was fair(did not offer once to fill my coffee), and the portions were small. I imagine this place maximizes the appearance more than the food and service. Won’t be back.

We had lunch at Catch 31 and would return. First of all our waitress Lacy was very good and helpful. I had the PoBoy sandwich and my girlfriend had the burger. Her burger was cooked a perfect medium and was served with sweet potato fires. My PoBoy was also delicious however my only complaint is that the piece of fish was so small it covered only about 70% of the bun. Normally PoBoys are bursting with seafood. Other than that, our lunch was very good.

I loved this restaurant. Located right by the beach. They have a rooftop lounge area. The service was great and so was the food. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Great location at the oceanfront. Sit outside around a fire pit and listen to local music. In the winter you have a great view of the holiday light show and tree. The food is pretty good but overpriced.

Exceptional place! It absolutely is expensive, but totally worth it, and definitely less pricey than a similar restaurant in NY/NJ would be. The service was excellent, the bronzed(their specialty mode of preparation) tuna and the fried calamari were amazing, and the glass of Chardonnay I got was memorable.

I had a lovely experience at Catch 31. This restaurant is very upscale and have fresh seafood considering it is right off VA Beach. My friend had ordered the swordfish special and I had a steak dinner. Our waiter was very nice & polite not to mention pretty cute! Lol I had never had swordfish before… So, I decided to try a bite of my friends swordfish. it was very delicious. Lol I was a little bit jealous. However, my steak dinner was very good. My steak was cooked to perfection. I will definitely come here again… just maybe not so late as it was kinda loud considering there is a bar in the restaurant. But I have no complaints what so ever.

Yes it is pricey. Yes it is trendy. Yes it can be crowded in the summer. Yes I keep going back. It’s just in the best location. Has bands outside at night in the park. Has a great atmosphere. One of those cases where you find its worth the price. A must go place on the beach.

Had a dinner celebration there for my sister. Friday night it was busy, but not that busy. Tourists, families, friends, lovers, etc having a great night. The place is a high end restaurant. Ordered food, which are on the expensive side with small portions, got the crab cake appetizer and shared a steak with my boyfriend. The steak was prepared well and they split our dish equally. On the other hand, our waiter for our table was ina ttentive. Didn’t refill our drinks unless we got his attention, and was rude in giving our check. Felt like being rushed at the end. Customer service was horrible. In my opinion, I don’t really recommend large parties there. You don’t wanna leave customers a bad impression of your restaurant.

How do you beat a restaurant on the beach? Well, for me anything is better than a restaurant on the beach, but according to my gf you can’t beat this. We sat outside on a beautiful day looking out towards the ocean. Even though we were in beach going clothes and this is an upscale dining experience, no one said anything or seemed to care. The food here has been good since they opened. They have the best beach dining in the area as far as I’m concerned. I lived in the area for 10 years and tried a lot of the places. It’s a little pricey, but the food and ambiance is worth it.

Last night my wife and I celebrated our third anniversary here, and it was a night we’ll cherish forever! After being seated, we had several questions about the menu, and we’re given some great recommendations by our server Lacey. We went with her top pick, the Rockfish filet, prepared ‘bronzed’. It had a perfect light crust of(if I remember correctly) brown sugar, and the fish was expertly prepared. We also shared another dish, the name of which I forget, but included perfect Oysters Rockefeller, a jumbo crab cake, grilled shrimp, and a fish filet. After dinner, Lacey made sure we got great«plus-one» service by remembering from earlier it was our third anniversary, and bringing desert on a beautifully decorated plate. The food and staff was amazing, but Lacey really made the difference, ensuring that every detail was attended to, like our perfectly polished wine glasses with our bottle of wine, to being able to articulate the differences between the different ways they prepare the fish. Next time we’re in the area, we’ll be back.

A group of us took a little R&R on the weekend to visit Virginia Beach and ended up at Catch 31 for lunch. Had to take advantage of being on the coast to try some seafood. Ordered half dozen raw clams and clam chowder. The chowder was rich, creamy, and full of clams. The raw clams were fresh and full of sea flavor. A couple of buddies ordered the seafood tower, wow that was a lot of seafood! They had to ask us to help them finish it– well if you insist! Add a cool and frosty beer, and it was a great summertime lunch by the beach. With tax and tip my order came out close to $ 30– not bad for a special occasion with friends. Would love to visit here again and try some of the other seafood dishes. Recommend and will repeat!

Visited Catch 31 last night for a friends Bday. It was 20 of us and sadly they don’t take reservations. We got there at 8 pm they told us the table will be ready in 45 min. By almost 9:30 we finally got a table, by that time we where starving! Our waiter was very nice but sadly I think he couldn’t handle large groups. It took like 20 min before we can put our order in, and at least 3 times of asking for a coke refill for one of the guest to actually get the refill. I order a Greek salad and steak, my husband a chowder soup and steak, we also order calamari for appetizer. We got our steak then the calamari he forgot the soup and salad. By the time we got the appetizer we where already eating our dinner. I wish I can say the service was great but it wasn’t. The dinner on the other hand was delicious!!! I loved my steak it was cook perfect the way I asked, the calamari was too oily not very good. But will def come back for that steak!

This place was fantastic. We went for dinner at 5pm and were promptly seated. Our waiter was very friendly and professional and carried on great conversation. Restaurant is immaculate and we’ll designed. We were seated inside and had a lovely view of the ocean. My fiancé and I both started with ceaser salads. They were fresh and had the perfect amount of dressing. Crutons were light and crispy and buttery. Only thing that could improve the salad is to use shaved parm instead of grated. I ordered the Beachcomber so I could have a taste of everything. It was the perfect amount of food. Five well seasoned perfectly cooked shrimp already de-tailed. A smalled(maybe 5oz?) Portion of salmon cooked in any of the ways they offer, I had the orange glaze. Salmon was cooked medium. Two huge oyster rockefeller. Perfect mix of topping and oyster. A small crab cake that was almost completely all crab and no filling. And then potatoes and roasted veggies. Fiancé had the new york strip with Yukon gold potatoes and a side of shrimp to make it surf and turf. There were 5 blackened shrimp cooked perfectly. The steak was huge and we’ll seasoned, though a bit over cooked. Our entire experience was great and we will definitely be back here on our next visit to VA Beach.

A cool spot around here! You can go there in casual clothes. But I usually dress up and try to take good pictures. Happy hour! Don’t forget to check it out! Good deal. You don’t wanna pay $ 7 for 1 beer eh! I often order seafood platter and pizza and piña colada!
