It’s a cute little strawberry patch. It’s probably not that little, but I believe it’s early in the season. The man who greeted us was nice and let us know how far we could go out to pick strawberries as there was a rope to show where to stop. We got a Groupon to go to this Farm to pick strawberries. We also got a complimentary jar of preserves. We picked blackberry. They had strawberry and strawberry jalapeño. I believe there were others, but I just wanted the blackberry preserves. We got 2 red buckets, which we filled and will definitely be freezing some for later because we can’t eat all of them. Will definitely come back to check out their farmer’s market because we got a little list and ended up there first. Loved it! We also want to try their CSA next year and are looking forward to the apple picking.

Cullipher Farms has breathed new life into this location. Though they currently do not have as many items as the old owners did, I am confident this will change once the weather warms up! Additionally the interior is very well organized and the checkout process was quick and efficient! Well done!

Fantastic produce and baked goods. The homemade ice cream is amazing. The farm stand has a sand-pit play area for the little ones with plenty of toys. Well worth the visit on a weekend afternoon.

Very spot on farm stand in the heart of Pungo. Added bonus is that it isn’t too far from home so in no time at all I can drive down to the stand, see what is on offer, and figure out what is for dinner. They are good at advertising which produce is theirs and which is brought in from other states, depending on what part of the season we are in. If their tomatoes or corn aren’t ready yet, they will supplement their stock from outside sources. If you aren’t sure, just ask any of the helpful staff. They will be more than glad to fill you in. The prices can be slightly higher than some of your local supermarkets but I would much rather pay a little extra to support a local farm than some mega-food conglomerate. Besides, when you are buying produce picked(probably that day) at the height of its growing season, you are getting it at the peak of flavor. That is worth a couple of extra pennies in my opinion.

This is one of the larger roadside markets(stands) in Pungo and they always seem to have the best in the area, the service in friendly and the prices reasonable.

I love farm markets! I stopped here on our way to their berry fields to pick strawberries. This is their organic fields location. The market had blueberries, NC peaches, corn, May peas, asparagus, homemade jams, and more! We bought an assortment of fruits/veggies. They were reasonably priced and all looked great! Will be returning!

So it seems like all local-farm supporters are chomping at the bit to get this summer show on the road. But damn, if this endless winter(apparently sent to us by some Game of Thrones god) did not screw everything up big time. Now I love Cullipher Farms, and they will surely have more going on later in the season… but we went to the organic pick-your-own strawberry patches today and while the staff was super friendly and very helpful, and the prices very reasonable, the organic strawberries probably could use another week or so! First of all, only one of the two organic fields was officially opened for picking, and it did seem somewhat picked over. We picked for around 30 minutes and only found enough good ones to fill a medium basket. They are also pretty tart, which is fine if that is your preference, but I will probably wait a week or so to see if they sweeten up before I would go back. The bad news is that the ladies told me because of the long cold season this year, the strawberry picking will be abbreviated and will probably wrap up the last week of May. So Hurry! I am still giving them four stars because I love their CSA baskets, the staff is super friendly and they are very helpful(will even direct you to other farm stands if they don’t have what you are looking for) and later in the summer, they offer a pretty cool experience with the delicious ice cream and the sand pile full of random trucks etc. Note(I dont think I was aware of this, or I had forgotten) that they have non-organic PYO strawberries further down the road, and the lady told me today those fields had at least twice as many strawberries as the organic fields, so if you are not hell-bent on organic you may want to consider those. I will certainly be back, not sure if we will make it for more strawberries or not, and will update this review!
