I found a hair in my food. It was a long stringy, «how the hell did someone not see you land in my food,» sort of hair too. Truly Unforgivable.

I have been wanting to try this spot for a while and I’m glad I finally did when I got the craving for beans and rice. Seeing that almost all dishes had my beans and rice, I knew I couldn’t go wrong. It got better than the beans and rice(crushed it BTW). It blew my mind with the flavor and textures combined when I had the Pollo Saltiao. Grilled chicken with peppers, onions, and fries. Mmmmmm my mouth waters for more. My portion was a little large for me which explains the price of $ 12.99. Could’ve easily shared this with someone else but I didn’t so I packed up the rest to enjoy it again later ;-). Brilliant. The ambiance was great and gave off the columbian vibe. It was just what I needed.

I had a great lunch with one of my favorite. It was my very first time in Columbian restaurant and it was great. Very friendly server(he was trying very hard to explain about his country food, thank him very much for that). We had chicken with oriole sauce, sweet and fried plantain, garlic shrimp, rice and beans. We really would love to go back to try another exotic dishes. The only reason I gave 4 was that there was flies in the restaurant and it was too hot in there.

Despite the name of the place(as i understand, desorden means disorder or chaos in English), my first impression of this space was colorful, cute and inviting. I really liked the décor as they have it set up as a tropical resort type feel with all the wait staff in matching khaki shorts, hats and bright satchels. Ive had columbian food, maybe once before but didnt really have a huge selection of familiar choices on the menu, though i had seen some photos of chiccharone so i knew would like to induldge in that. I ended up ordering the Bandeja Paisa which is basically a sampler of sorts. The stand outs were the yummy marinated steak, chicken and the chiccarone(or thick bacon), as you can tell im a big carnivore. All of these flavors were great and the meat was cooked to perfection. Im just not a beans or fried egg with my dinner person so the sides werent that appealing to me but I totally understand its a part of the cultural experience. Typically this dish would be served with a sausage but the waiter allowed me to sub for chicken and I was very happy with this, glad I asked! I saw that they served fresh juices but I didnt indulge, many other patrons seemed to enjoy them though. Always looking for authentic Latin cuisine and this place definitely delivers :)

Food is always good. The atmosphere is more than most would expect. The only downfall is they are more into larger groups to dine now. They’ve removed all bit one 2 person table. They’ve added a bar around the wall for small groups. You stare at the wall when sitting there. Also, the service is either really good or really bad, depending if the owner is around. Tonight, he wasn’t. We watched them tell a party of 4 they were closed at 9:41pm when the sign clearly stated they were open up til 10pm. We had to glad someone down and ask for refills. But, on other visits, the service was great. So you have a 50⁄50 chance.

We love coming here. My wife is from Colombia, so I have ate at many Colombian restaurants in the U. S, as well as Bogota. El Desorden is definitely one of my favorite. The atmosphere is great, as well as the service. We like to try all of their daily lunch specials. The portions are huge, so plan on being full for the rest of the day.

All I can say is Yum! This was my first time eating Columbian food and it definitely won’t be my last. I ordered the Carne Asada served with sweet plantains and rice & beans. My husband ordered the Bandeja Paisa, apparently, a common dish in Columbia. It came with thick cut bacon, sausage, fried egg, avocado, rice & beans, steak, corn cake, and sweet plantains. It’s a generous amount of food. My hulk of a husband couldn’t finish it all. The Carne Asada was well seasoned and tender, I only had a bite of the beans but they were very flavorful. My favorite was the sweet plantain. I had never had them before and can best describe them as a cross between a banana and a sweet potato. I’m not sure how they cook them here but the plantains alone were worth coming back for. I like that they added lime to my water instead of lemon. It’s the little things, right? The prices might seem a bit steep but the food is so good and the portions are very generous. You’re definitely getting your money’s worth. Can’t wait to get back!

Lots of food, but overall it just didn’t do it for me. We split a beef empanada which was flavorful and had a perfect crisp on the outside. Their bandeja paisa, or better known as #40, seemed to be the favorite so we went with that. This was a huge platter and is very, very shareable. Huge slab of bacon which I thought was fried too hard and difficult to chew. Rice was plain white rice which I usually don’t mind, but in this case I wish it was seasoned. Beans were well cooked and not the typical refried type. Steak was very thin sliced and parts were dry but flavor was good. Sausage was nice and flavorful, but they only give you a little piece. Corn cake was bleh. Fried yucca was good, plantains were perfect! Make sure you ask for their sauce, it’s kind of like a mix of ketchup/mayo. We also had a mango juice that was blended with milk. Super creamy and delicious! Reminded me of an helado. Service was really friendly and on top of everything during our visit.

This place was great. Nice small spot for a good dinner. The food was amazing. I had a new your strip and definitely wasn’t bad at all the only reason why I gave it 4 stars is because the steak was too dried out and not thick enough. Beside that it wasn’t bad at all my wife had the snapper and she loved it. She said it was just great! V

Man, what an awesome atmosphere. The staff was really friendly and over all timely in providing service. This pains me to leave three stars. The food looks amazing, smells amazing, but what I had was poorly prepared. They may have precooked the dish as the meats were extremely dry with the exception of the steak. I am forgetting the dish’s name, but it came with steak, sausage, pork, rice, beans, plantains, and maybe yucca. Way overcooked. I will say, I will give it a try again, but only if I am feeling lucky, I will not got out of my way. Too bad, great potential to be awesome.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself here! After a long Saturday of a strenuous 3 hour workout, my fitfam and I were ready to chow down. I made the announcement that if we were to go out to eat it HAD to be a place I had never been to before. My Spanish speaking friend said, «Have you ever had Columbian? I know a great place!» and really, that was all that needed to be said. No, I had never had Columbian but I LOVEALL types of ethnic food. So I was excited to try this place out, to say the least. For drinks we got a round of water, but two people at our table got juice. This juice was more like a smoothie consistency with fruit so fresh you only had to close your eyes to be able to tell EXACTLY what you were drinking. I would highly recommend one of these on a warm summer day. Maybe even get one to go! They were really refreshing! The guy that told us about the place started off with Chicharrones con maduros y aguacate(Thick bacon w/fried plantains and avocado). Now, I didn’t try this, but from the looks of it(Pictures have been posted) it looked and smelled AMAZING! Also, everything that I tried there was delicious so I can only imagine how good this was. And I THINK this is one of my friends usual orders, so I’d give it a shot! For my meal I got the Pollo con salsa criolla, arroz frijoles y maduros(Chicken with«criolla» sauce, rice, beans and fried plantains. It was surpurb! I felt like going a little on the«healthier» side today and this hit the spot. The Criolla sauce was a light tomato sauce(think like, a watered down tomato soup? Which sounds gross but no, the flavors were great! Check out the pic!) and it came over a heap of grilled peppers and some Yucca(I think that’s what it was). I’ve never had Yucca but it was VERYGOOD! Okay, so usually when I go to Mexican resturaunts I skip the rice and beans because they rice is always dry and stale and the beans are basically refried mush. The rice and beans here were like someone actually made it in the back instead up opening a can and plopping it on my plate. The beans were actually beans, with a nice light flavor and the rice was delicious, as rice should be. Oh! And as my first experience with plantains… these were GREAT! I was very pleased with my plate. My friend got Arroz con pollo(Chicken and Rice) which was great! Not too much to be said here as I only had a bite, but would totally recommend it as well. Especially if you’re a rice lover. The soup that I have pictured is Mondongo, or Tripe Soup. Don’t be a hater, I’m sure its good. Then again I wouldn’t know because the person that ordered it DIDNTLETMETASTEIT! hahah. Just goes to show how good it is! He said you can order a huge bowl as your meal, or a smaller one. I think the smaller one is only like $ 3. I’m ordering that next time to try it out! Last but not least my other friend got the Ensalada Mixta(Steak and Chicken Salad). This was actually the first thing he recommended to me because I said I was looking for something«healthy». But once he said«salad» I thought«Ew, how boring». Then he ended up ordering it and once I actually SAW it, I was sad that I didn’t get what he recommended! This salad was HUGE and FULL of protein. Literally the mecca of a bodybuilders salad. It looked great. All in all I will definitely come back and bring others will me. Great food, great service. They even give you a selfie stick of you want to take pictures of yourself and your crew! Um AMAZEBALLS! hahaha

The ceviche was fresh and bright. The citrus flavors really came thru and paired well with the avocado and shrimp(which were ginormous). I have to recommend this if you’re not really hungry but need something filling. The restaurant is very small and they play music videos on the TV. We were there during a Michael Jackson marathon. And I’m not mad at that.

As far as my Colombian knowledge goes, I know a few songs by Shakira. Cuisine? I’d never had it but assumed it would be something close to Peruvian or Brazilian(both of which I love). El Desorden certainly did not disappoint! My family and I stopped in for a casual lunch and were immediately given complimentary sliced banana, tortilla chips, and home made salsa upon seating. The four of us shared their mixed platter, fish in seafood cream sauce, and warm shrimp salad. Since their food were freshly made, we had a bit of of wait time. But patience definitely paid off — they were well worth the wait! Everything was authentic as it could be and flavor was spot on. And the price was borderline ridiculous especially for the portion they came in. Shrimp salad $ 7.50 came with 10 medium sized shrimp + huge serving of veggies. WHOLE(deboned) fish piled with seafood(shrimp, mussels, calamari) in cream sauce served with plantain chips and rice for $ 18! Mixed platter with fatty bacon, steak, sausage, fried egg, avocado slices, rice and bean for $ 12.50. So much coming to Virginia beach to rock our bikini body. Overall — impressed by the yummy food + warm service. Definitely recommend a visit!

Until I came here, I’ve never had Colombian food. My fave dish here is the Pollo Saltiao but every dish I’ve had was packed full of flavor! Their empanadas are great and, they serve sliced fruit to gnaw on while you wait on your meal. The only downsides are that it’s kind of expensive(plates start at about $ 13), the table seating layout stinks(servers and patrons always bump into you) and the female servers aren’t very nice. Also, I wish their menu was online our at least had photos. Being new to this food, I had to look up dishes on Wiki/Google so I’d know what to expect.
