Most authentic Mexican food I’ve found in VA, I’m from souther California so that’s saying something(: we have a crazy 7 month old baby so we don’t go out to eat often, we have however ordered for pick up from here a couple of times & it’s always fresh, hot, & delish! We always get the carne asada fries:) for sure.

Absolutely excellent food! Very authentic tacos! I order the four taco combo to try out several flavors($ 6.99 and it comes with chips and a drink). The mango juice that is included with the meal is perfectly made. I was worried that the mango would be overpowering, but it was actually light and very smooth. The appetizer we ordered was the Mexican chili fries which were very exciting! There was so much flavor in that appetizer, I’d highly recommend it. The sauce bar was awesome. There was pico de gallo and their hottest peanut hot sauce was fiery. BEWARE tread carefully with the sauces! There were four things that bothered me. Although I was eating amazing food, these things negatively impacted my experience: 1. The TV was showing the Maury Show. It was the only ambience in the restaurant so I found it quite annoying. This is a Mexican restaurant not a Mom’s soap special about who’s cheating on who. I’d rather have some Mexican music. 2. When you place your order before sitting down, you pay and the machine asks for a tip. I’d recommend not tipping because the only service they have is bringing your food. There’s an awesome sauce bar with your fork, knife, straw, and napkins. No one sets that up. 3. There’s a trash receptacle like the ones you see at McDonald’s with plates on top. Which encourages you to pick up after yourself. Don’t have your machine ask for a tip if I’m literally servicing myself. 4. I’m not sure if this is a safety violation, but there is a constant smoke haze in the restaurant. The owner of this establishment needs to invest in a overhead steam vent because I’m coughing from it. I wouldn’t bring a date here, but I would definitely bring a friend for some great Mexican food or order take out! Overall great food and worth coming here. You can’t beat these prices!

Came here after work one day because I saw that they had my favorite food in the whole world, carne asada tacos. and not just any carne asada tacos… AUTHENTIC carne asada tacos. Anywho, came here ordered and sat down and ate. The food was okay, I thought the meat was kind of dry but the flavor was there. and all the sauces were amazing. Also, the drink I had, I think it was a hibiscus drink. idk, but ITWASAMAZING. literally if I only had that to drink for the rest of my life, I would not be upset. at all. I got three tacos and a drink it was $ 12 plus tip, which isn’t bad at all. I wish it was closer to me so I could come more often, but I definitely will be back.

Being that I’m Mexican Im always looking for authentic Mexican food. I stumbled across this one with help of Unilocal users whom highly suggested it. The setup was slightly confusing as you order and pay first and then sit down not a big deal just different. I ordered carna asada tacos that were good but i got bug chunks of meat. The selection of salsas were great and the flavored natural waters were AMAZING. Overall good experience.

First time here and loved it! Salsa choices were fab! Had pollo tacos, pollo burrito, Mexican fries, and beef tacos. Wonderful flavor! Topped off with homemade chips and yummy Mexican soda! New favorite for our family! And, affordable!

First time here, just had 2 tacos to try it out me being Mexican and growing up with authentically made Mexican food from my Mexico born parents so I was skeptical about what people said about good Mexican food… the tacos were good and the salsas were also good, nothing beats homemade BUT this place gets close enough to homemade, I’m speaking about the tacos here and salsa since I haven’t tried anything else. This place is good for the tacos so I’ll be back for more and different dishes I know it will not disappoint.

I came here to see what all the hype was about !!! Now I understand. This is the real taste of Mexican. I am a big guacamole fan and it was the freshest I have ever tasted !!! I also had the beef and chicken tacos, the meat and ingredients in everything was full of flavor. I will most definitely be back for more. I’m back again to try a Carne Asada chicken burrito and of course more guacamole !!!

My wife and I have been searching for a legit Mexican place, being from California we are spoiled. But we finally found our new favorite restaurant here at Salsitas. Everything reminded us of home, from the smell to the music, it was great. My wife ordered the nachos and they were HUGE. Not to mention very fresh and delicious. I ordered the Tacos de Lengua combo(Cow Tongue Tacos). I know it sounds weird but you won’t regret your decision to order these. Best I’ve ever had, I don’t know how they cook it but the meat is tender and pack in so much flavor! I paired my tacos with some fresh Peach juice and the wife got some good ol Horchata, both equally refreshing and not too sweet. We’ll be back weekly, I can’t recommend this place enough.

There’s only ONE bad thing about Salsita’s: you will NEVER be able to eat Mexican food anywhere else! DELICIOUS! AUTHENTIC! FRESH! I never thought I’d find homemade tortillas, Birría, Lengua, real carnitas, or authentic carne asada in VB. This is the spot! Forget all those other Mexican restaurants– they serve dog food! If you’ve spent time in San Diego, this is the place to get your Mexican fix. As good as the best places out west. Lots of fresh salsas, real quest fresco, I just wish they had Pozole! Best in town, no contest!

AUTHENTIC and delicious. More taco truck faire and not a fancy sit down resturant. The guacamole fresca is the BOMB. Easily the best I have had and till feed several. Love this place for lunch. My favorite is the taco salad with carnitas(not on menu). They usually have daily specials.

Took the intern here for her first time and she enjoyed it. She is definitely taking her family here to try. I can see this place is doing well with word of mouth. Gotta get here early during lunch. They finally put some décor pieces on the wall. All they need is some signs pointing out which fruit drink they dispense and different kind of salsas from mild to hottest.

Great flavors on everything from the carne asada platter, chicken tacos, pork tacos, pillco de gallo, everything just hit the spot. There are two things I will say though they were running extremely low on salsas at 5 pm and though the combo meals come with a drink on the board all the drinks that I could see were extra. All in all I would definitely hit this place up often if i lived in the area.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This was my reaction when I took my first few bites into their delicious and authentic Mexican street tacos. This new and authentic Mexican restaurant is located in the Newtown Baker Crossing Shopping Center, to the immediate right of El Desorden in a little spot where a small bakery used to be. Judging from their first review, they opened around September of last year. When you walk inside, you order at the counter. More often than not, you will have to stand in line during their peak time hours. This place has a large following of Hispanic diners, where Spanish is spoken freely. The folks who work here are very friendly. There is no hand held menu available here. Instead, their menu is plated overhead on the wall above the counter, organized in four sections from left to right: ANTOJITOS — –BURRITOS — –TORTAS — –TACOS Over on the left hand side of this restaurant against the wall is a self-serve case of various drinks, including bottled water, Mexican Coca-Cola, and others. To the right of their counter is a small display case of baked goods and pastries. After enjoying four lunch time visits, I still have only ordered one main menu item, which is their taco combination platter. An exceptional bargain, it comes with four tacos with your choice of meat and fillings, one of their six house made drinks, and a small basket of chips, all for only $ 6.99. I normally don’t like to write a review of any restaurant until sampling at least two or three different main offerings. Here I am making an exception, as their tacos are so darned delicious. In fact, they are the most intensely flavorful Mexican style street tacos I have yet to taste anywhere, bar none. A wide variety of meats is available for their tacos. So far my favorite combination consists of two Adobada(Marinated Pork) tacos, one Carne Asada taco, and one Chicken taco. I also enjoyed one of their Pork Belly tacos during one visit. They also offer Cabeza and Lengua tacos, which I intend to sample during a future visit. You receive a very generous amount of meat for whichever one you choose. They also ask you if you want onions and cilantro added, which I always do. Their corn tortillas are house made with a deep and robust flavor and texture. During my first visit, their tacos came with single corn tortillas, and they tore a bit for me under the weight of their fillings. During my second visit, they came with double corn tortillas, and they held together much better. For my third and fourth visits, they went back to the single corn tortillas, and they held together perfectly. I don’t know why they switched to double corn tortillas during my second visit and back to single corn tortillas during my last two visits. This is no longer an issue for me, as I seem to have finally mastered the art of handling an authentic Mexican street taco. To the left of the counter are six varieties of their house made drinks, one of which you choose for your taco combination platter. They are not labeled, so you have to ask what they are. So far I have tried their Horchata, Strawberry, and their Hibiscus, all of which were refreshingly well iced, and delicious. If I had to choose a favorite so far, it would be their Hisbiscus. When you place and pay for your order, the counter person gives you your drink immediataely, along with a small basket of tortilla chips. Their chips are crispy and flavorful without any excess grease. The tacos usually take a few minutes to prepare. When they are ready, they come beautifully arranged on your plate in a four-leaf clover pattern. As you are waiting for your tacos to arrive, you can go their salsa bar, consisting of seven different varieties, each of which is house made. They are arranged in order of their heat level, with the mildest on the extreme left and their hottest on the extreme right. You simply spoon the ones you want into the small plastic cups available and take them to your table. After sampling and enjoying each of them with their own unique taste profile, I have identified my two favorites. They are the green salsa in the middle, with a moderate level of heat, and their bright orange salsa on the extreme right, which is their hottest. In addition to their heat, they both deliver a depth of flavor that is profoundly delicious. Although I have yet to try any of their other main menu items, the outstanding quality and taste profiles of their tacos and salsas alone literally screamed at me to write and post this five-star review.

I must pass this strip plaza at least 10 times a week, I live very close by, and would have never stopped here if it weren’t for the Unilocal reviews. It looks closed from the street, dark, unassuming and small from the front but has a small neon Open sign in the window. We were greeted immediately with a friendly smile. It’s actually well lit inside, needs some décor on the walls and seats 48, if I counted right. The menu is overhead, with English descriptions, and is well organized. There are 6 churning beverage containers on the left but are unlabeled. I thought they were soda but I was wrong. They are mostly fruit beverages. I ordered the peach and my guy got the hibiscus beverage, both were delicious. We also ordered a Burrito Asada combo and a 4 taco combo(no cilantro) with a side of beans. Shortly after we picked our table we were offered chips with an array of 6 dips. We were told the least hot was on the left, most hot on the right. I would have preferred to see them labeled so I would know what’s in them. The chips were very crisp and not greasy at all. I likes #2 and #3 from the left. Our meals came out quickly and were outstandingly delicious. I think I like my chicken taco the best, it was very well seasoned. I added some of the refried beans and sauce #2. My guys Burrito Asada was huge. He said it was a little dry(isn’t that what the sauces are for?). But overall very good. I like to know what I am eating so labeling the beverages and sauces would be helpful… to me. With a 20% tip…$ 18.71. Can’t go wrong with that.

I’ve had Salsita’s bookmarked for a while given the great reviews but I just don’t make it over to that area of town very often. But, I found myself with some time before an appointment recently and made it a point to get over and give this place a shot for lunch and I am glad that I did. When I pulled up to the parking lot, I honestly couldn’t tell if they were open. I think they had one of those neon ‘open’ signs in the window but it wasn’t lit and the place looked dark from the outside. But, they were open, luckily. The place itself is pretty unassuming, with more seating than I thought from the outside off to the right of the main register. For this first visit, I had to go with tacos. I ordered the taco combo, which comes with four tacos, chips, and a drink. I think it was $ 6.99, very inexpensive. I did have to sub the drink that came with it for a coke in a glass bottle. I ordered two chicken, one carnitas and one adobada taco. All came out quickly, with onions, cilantro but on a single corn tortilla. I’d prefer they double up the tortillas because with the heat of the meat and the salsas you might add, the single one does have a tendency to break up. But, the tacos were all very good. I enjoyed the chicken and adobada the most. They have a great little salsa bar with something like six salsas that range from mild to hot. I tried a few of them with my chips and all were enjoyable. They also add some nice flavor to your tacos. They had a case with some baked goods but the selection on this given day was kinda sad. Nothing looked appealing to me. But, I definitely can see myself stopping in again. The authentic style tacos are a rare find in this area and the prices are very reasonable. I may try other items but I am a taco guy at heart, so straying from the old stand by might be tough. We’ll see.

Applause to this wonderful place or should I say the best solid Mexican joint in the area. I’m not gonna lie, I’m not a fan of mexican cuisine at all however this restaurant changed my mind. I’ve been here a couple of times and I absolutely enjoyed every time I visited. This place doesn’t mess up my appetite and always fills my tummy’s desire. The last time I visited this place was just a week ago and I ordered the marinated pork better known as Adobada burrito. As usual the food was freshly prepared and cooked to perfection. The flavor profile was divine and well balanced. I love the entire dish and almost addictive. The good thing in this place is you can add and modify the condiments the way how you like it. The dessert display next to the cash register is very appealing. I couldn’t take my eyes off it as it looks delightfully delicious. And yes, I tried the pineapple roulade and it was extremely decadent. Definitely, one of my favourite spots for a quick bite.
