We stopped in for a quick breakfast. Typical eggs, bacon and sausage — nothing special as far as breakfast. That said, I can’t speak for the Greek fare but I DEFINITELY would like to go back and try because based on the pictures and other reviews… NOMNOM.

Delicious! Amazing gyros, and the breakfast biscuits are to die for. It’s family owned and operated and everyone is so friendly.

They have gyros that’s all I really like to eat at Greek places. this is more of a diner than a Greek restaurant. they do breakfast and lunch stuff. the waitress here are very friendly. they always seem a little empty though. which is weird since their food is pretty good. recommend their gyros.

I visited this restaurant for lunch. I ordered the philly with fries and a side of pita bread and hummus. It was good but the hummus could have been a little better. I placed my order to go and they got it out fairly quickly and even offered me water while I waited. I wouldn’t go out of my way to revisit but I would go back.

If I could give it less than 1 star, I would. Service was bad from the start… «Sit anywhere» and the first three tables were dirty. The coffee was horrible, no flavor. I asked if they had honey for my coffee and she just replied, rather rudely, «no». What restaurant, let alone a Greek one, doesn’t have honey? I wanted to leave but boyfriend wanted to give the food a shot. His omelette and home fries were their only saving grace. My medium well eggs were runny and the French toast was uncooked, mush in the middle. See photos. They did take the eggs off the bill, a whole $ 1.00. We will not be coming back here, I don’t recommend you try it either.

Great food, wonderful staff. Very funny and engaging. The owner was friendly and talked to the customers and myself like we were all just hanging out. Great experience.

Great service, I love their egg sandwiches it tasted so good. The décor is simple but could use a little updating. Came in a few time out of the free one time was mediocre service, but had good food all the way around. Met the owner Maria, sweet lady, her husband owns It’s All Greek across from the mall by Pembroke. All in all stop by and get breakfast, great food!

Excellent. I went for breakfast. My first bite tasted just like my cooking. Mmmm. I love to eat grits and that’s what they serve as part of the dish. Just simple home cooking. Oh such deliciousness.

Stopped by for lunch after a Saturday morning of shopping. The hostess/waitress was great, friendly and prompt with service. We sat in a comfortable booth. The falafel appetizer is literally amazing. Freshly formed and fried tiny patties of chickpea goodness were paired with warn pita bread slices, Greek yogurt dipping sauce, cucumbers and tomatoes. Delicious! I had the grilled chicken gyro while hubby had the traditional one. They were overflowing with tender, perfectly cooked meat, bright green lettuce, juicy tomatoes and yummy tsaziki sauce, all wrapped up in the tastiest pita bread. Golden, scrumptious fries on the side were a nice accompaniment. Fountain sodas with plenty of ice washed everything down. The price is right, the service made us smile, and oh that food! This will be a new regular spot.

Okay, not great. Popped in for weekday breakfast and chose the Greek omelet. It was a «Meh» experience. First, the toast arrived a good few minutes before the omelet. And I had requested dry but it had a good bit of butter/margarine on it. I hate sending food back, so I scraped off what I could and slowly nibbled while watching the kitchen. Second, the omelet was less like a folded or baked omelet and more like an egg scramble. I know it’s all the same once it’s on the fork. And is it difficult to keep the home fries on the home fries side of the plate and not on the eggs? Yes, I know it’s a petty complaint but presentation counts. The omelet itself was good though not nearly enough of the gyro meat in there. My waitress was nice enough but she could have done better at making rounds of the restaurant(there were four other tables occupied) with the coffee pot. All told, it was okay. I’ve experienced better.

I’m basing this review on my breakfast experience. Should I happen to try them for lunch sometime, perhaps a reconsideration will be due. Elias Café is a locally owned business opening early morning for breakfast and judging from this mornings diners, caters to a loyal selection of locals; city police, and the sort. The décor is dated and could stand a deep cleaning judging from the griminess of the table I was at. The coffee was hot but weak by most standards. I selected the breakfast special which was a fairly standard American fare of eggs, bacon or sausage(I selected bacon), toast and grits. The waitress doubling as the grill cook did a good job keeping up with the 3 or four patrons. The bacon was likely 10 seconds shy of being overcooked. They eggs were a tad oily but cooked as ordered. Overall, I would tend to go next door to Shelton’s Grill when choosing a diner breakfast. While comparably priced, the coffee and food are better as is the sanitation. Again, my review may change if the lunch performs as advertized by many other reviewers, Time will tell.

Came here for lunch on a recommendation from a friend who said this place was«legit». I should have asked for more clarification on what part was legit because it’s just a regular every day diner. Nothing fancy. However, their menu is on the different side. By that I mean, they serve breakfast(all day) and then they specialize in greek food. Breakfast and greek food. Odd combination to me, but it must work for them. I totally could have looked at the menu online and pictures to tell this was this kind of establishment, but I didn’t. They do have burgers on the menu though, which is what I ordered. And I will tell you, the burger was actually damn good. Again, nothing fancy but a nicely cooked burger with some bacon on top and melted cheese hit the spot for me. The fries were golden brown and hot! My friend ordered a breakfast sandwich(egg, bacon, cheese) and she thought it was good but had a little too much butter on it which made it kinda of greasy. If you want to try their greek food, I would definitely check it out since they had quite the variety of choices.

First time eating here even though I live down the street from it. Not a bad place to eat in my opinion. I got the chicken platter and my wife got the classic gyro. Both were very good and fairly priced.

The food and service at Elias Café is always top notch. We love to go there for breakfast since it is just down the street from us and never as crowded as IHOP or the other breakfast joints on the weekends. The owner/chef is super friendly and a great cook. My usual choice of breakfast there is 2 eggs over medium with corned beef hash. When we do get there for lunch I love either the Gyro platter or spanakopita.

Good food. Reasonably priced. No bells or whistles but was not needed. I’d definitely go back. Had their gyro and it was very good. Looking forward to trying their breakfast. I had no issue with service but I’m pretty low maintenance.

Came here for an early breakfast one Sunday. Sadly the café is in need of a make over. Dispute this, things are generally clean. Service was fine, no issues. Food was good & well cooked. Prices were reasonable. Husband would like to try the Gyro but hard for us to get out for lunch and they are closed for dinner. Don’t think we will be back for breakfast only because I have another place I like better, its new, prices run the same and they open an hour earlier for my early bird self. Otherwise we would try lunch if we ever can make it.

In my opinion: — Most Authentic Gyro in Virginia Beach — I have lived in Virginia Beach for nearly 20 years, and have been coming to Elias Café for about ten years, since they opened. I have been to Greece, so a Gyro is my favorite food preference on the planet. That said, I was not able to find a Greek restaurant in the area that made a true Gyro.(Most restaurants used that sliced, packaged gyro meat, vice the meat over open flame and carved.) Elias Café has the best Gyro’s in the area by far, with authentic Gyro meat carved as it should be. This is a family owned restaurant, so you won’t see all the ‘flare’ many restaurants have in the dining area, but if you love a Family owned café style restaurant where the focus is on good food, definitely give Elias Café a try. PS. Saw an article that featured Tom Hanks ate here when he was in town in Late 2014. If you want the same seat, turn right when you come in the door, and choose the booth along the windows, second from the far wall, lol. ;-)

Five stars for the beef kabob! This meal satisfies everything I want when eating Greek food: Greek salad, beef kabobs and rice!(See picture) There’s definitely a lot on this plate. I was able to eat the entire meal, feel content yet not feel so full and fat… always a sign of a good meal. It’s my definite go to dish from now on.
