When we are up this far from the Oceanfront it’s our go to place for Chinese food we have never been disappointed.

Been here a couple of times and I thought I already wrote a review for this place but I guess not. I don’t go to many Chinese restaurant unless I’m with a group of people which brought me here again. I was told the Mongolian beef was their specialty so, that’s what I went for. I’m so glad I did because it was very good! The beef was tender with plenty of onions and scallions. The meat was so flavorful and was just my favorite thing on the table. I also tried the orange chicken and I didn’t like it. I’ve had a lot better at fast food take out. It was more tangy that sweet like most orange chicken I’ve had. Tried the fried rice too and it was a little too salty for me. Overall a good experience and would only go back for the Mongolian beef.

I’m from Taiwan and I’m so happy to find a place that has authentic pecking duck. It was awesome. My husband and I both love it. It’s a neat place, with great atmosphere. Servers are helpful and very friendly. Food comes out relatively fast. No complaints about this place. I love all dishes we ordered. This is the second time we went back. If the weren’t so far from Suffolk, we will definitely go more often!

Been here once for lunch with a friend. Saw the awesome reviews and selection of food and had to see for myself. I chose this place bc I was in the mood for all Asian foods and liked how they offer Chinese and Japanese food. Unfortunately, on the day we came their Sushi chef was out for the day to a family emergency. I was bit upset bc I was really wanted sushi(sighs) but the show must go on. For starters we ordered peking duck. I only ever had Peking Duck at Jade Villa. If you want to suffice your peking duck cravings for a cheaper price, come here! It’s soo worth it and they give you more food. We ordered Dried String Bean w/Pork and Hunan Shrimp. Both were OK to me. I think it was just those two dishes that seem basic to me. It was fresh, but taste wish I wasn’t blown away. Service was friendly and prompt. They even have a specials board. I’m going to have to give this place another try. Their menu is huge, I’m sure I’ll find the dish I’ll like.

Honestly, Forbidden Palace is hands-down the BEST Chinese food in the Tidewater area! It’s a shame that they don’t deliver, but they’re so good that we happily drive all the way from the Oceanfront down to Rosemont Rd. to pick up take-out. The flavors are amazing, and they use fresh, high-quality ingredients. It’s a little pricier than your average take-out joint, but completely worth it! The ambiance is nice… Appropriate, but understated. Soft lighting and a well-stocked bar. The service is always fantastic. When calling in a take-out order, we often seem to forget to add our salads, but when I show up and ask to add them, it never takes more than a few minutes. I think they also have good lunch specials. I especially recommend the Beef Chow Mei Fun, the Szechuan green beans, and the Mongolian Beef, although their other dishes are just as good. They also have a good little house salad with yummy ginger dressing. All in all, I can’t say enough good things! We’re such big fans in our family, that I went to pick up take-out yesterday, and ran into my aunt and uncle having their own dinner there! 5 very enthusiastic stars!

My second time visiting here. Met my bff both times on her lunch break and I’m coming from Yorktown. They are fast and quick with our orders both times. I ordered beef fried rice the first time and ordered Mongolian Beef this time. I really didn’t know what I wanted so we ordered the same thing and it was a great choice, just way too much onions than what I expected it to have. None the less it was a good choice.

My first time here was grrrrreat! I’m trying to remember if this was the same restaurant that was located off of Princess Anne road. I’m not sure if that one is still there, but the name and ambience was way familiar. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza amongst other restaurants, grocery stores, banks, gas stations etc. I said that to say it’s definitely surrounded by competition. But it’s also centrally located where business should definitely be good for them. I ate lunch here today with 6 other ladies and we all were pleased with the atmosphere, service and our meals. Atmosphere: when I walked in I thought the restaurant was empty because it was so quiet with low lighting. But to my surprise around 1245PM they had a decent flow of patrons. I’d say about 5 parties of at least 2 were dining in. So I figured hmmmm this must be some good eating going on here! Service: our waitress Melissa was great! ! She wasn’t over the top bubbly or super friendly but she got the job done! ! Very attentive, accurate with orders and was forthcoming when asked about certain dishes. We also requested a private room prior to arriving but we were seated amongst the other guests. We informed Melissa of our existing reservation request and she immediately reached out to the powers that be and we were moved to a private area as we requested during the reservation. Melissa was spot on so much I’d turn my head for a sec and look back to see my water glass refilled. Way to go Melissa. If you want seamless service … Melissa all the way. Meal: there are many dishes to choose from about 4 pages worth of meal choices. It was so much goodness calling my name I didn’t know who to answer first or turn a deaf ear to. So I opted to go light since I was returning back to the office. Broccoli and garlic sauce please! ! Yummmmm very flavorful and a nice size portion. Alongside the broccoli and garlic sauce you can choose steam rice or fried rice. I chose the fried rice. Now here is where I mention the one star that I chose to keep. My food was salty. Not super salty but enough to notice. Thank goodness it was still good enough to eat. And I ate it all!!! Overall, the others at my table enjoyed their meal too. Some of the dishes included: house pancit, egg fu young, «got to have it» sushi roll and egg rolls. I didn’t hear any complaints. All were satisfied. I will definitely return soon. The do offer lunch specials. But you can expect to pay under $ 10 for lunch. If you pay more, you were realllly hungry. The restroom was tidy too! ! Staff friendly and forthcoming. An awesome lunch experience at a new venue for me. I recommend this place 100% Enjoy | Have fun :)

This was the worst Chinese food I’ve ever experienced. This restaurant needs to decide if they want to be a bar or Chinese food restaurant doesn’t look like either one is working out well for them

Not your typical Chinese restaurant, it had a mellow atmosphere, bar lounge and dimmed lights… our server Amanda was excellent… I was very surprised to see Dim Sum choices in the menu, that’s usually a breakfast or lunch thing… So I ordered the Cilantro Dumpling, Pork Buns and the Roast duck… Perfect… I finished it with Green tea ice cream… This will be my new spot…

The food is always terrific eat in or take out. Sushi chef on premises. I personally do not eat Sushi but my friends rate it highly. Great menu for many family style meal selections. Not a great place for little picky eaters. We have one and have to bring a snack or feed her prior. Service is always good to fair and there is typically not a long wait for a table. There is always ample parking available in the parking lot behind the restaurant which has an additional entrance. Let me reiterate that the food here is fantastic! I recommend that you give this place a try.

Take out was fine, a little expensive for the portion size. As for Service: Keep in mind, this is Christmas night, an extremely busy time. for them: I walked in to order takeout at the bar, and they walked passed me three different times over 10 minutes, each time saying«I’ll be right with you.» Finally, I called them over and said, «I just want to put an order in!» and she took my order right then. 30 minutes later it came out. They stapled my takeout back shut, so I felt weird about checking to see if everything was in there in front of the employee. When I got home, there were no egg rolls, even though they were on the receipt stapled to the bag!

I must enjoy Forbidden Palace a couple of times a week. The food is consistently good. For value, taste and food quality you can’t beat it! Plus, their sushi is excellent!

We ordered a sushi menorah for our family Hanukkah celebration like one we saw on pintrest. They did a great job as you can see in the picture and it was extremely tasty!

The food here is amazing! Definitely try the Paradise Roll, it’s probably one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. I also got the seafood low mein and It was delicious. I had a party of 15 for my birthday and everyone loved their food. Good food for all ages, and not pricey at all!

Oh there are so many things to say about this place, both good and bad. The end result is that the food and service is good enough to warrant a return visit and still leave me with a positive opinion about this place. First the good stuff. We went on a Sunday evening and the place was completely empty. Our group was the only one there. This can be good and bad. Good that we had the whole place to ourselves so our kids could be loud without disturbing anyone. Bad that there is no one eating there. Wny is that? Maybe it was just because it was a dead night. They have a huge bar that is right in the middle of the restaurant, which seems a little odd but from what I could tell they had a huge selection of drinks and plenty of places to sit. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. Because there was no one else there we also had some of the other wait staff helping us so we were never low on drinks or anything else. The food: I was able to try the Gyoza, Ha Gao, Salted Fish Rice, Salted Soft Shell Crab, and Salted Flounder. I have to say that the food was excellent! Everything I tasted that night was absolutely delicious. The food alone is worth giving this place a shot! Another nice thing was that my daughter had left her toys at the table and our waitress was kind enough to run outside to us as we were leaving to give it back! Now onto the bad: While their menu is huge, there were several things I tried ordering that they either didn’t serve anymore or didn’t have that night. in fact, I tried to order an avocado shake and they said they didn’t have milk. Milk? I might understand not having avocados on hand, but milk seems a little basic to not have in the kitchen. My friend also ordered coffee which he never received. All in all, while I was disappointed by the inaccurate menu, the food was good enough to hold it’s ground and my friends and I came to a consensus that we would come back again to give it another try.

I am pretty aggravated at my experience here. I ordered the general tsos chicken with brown rice and crab ragoon togo. The rice was super sticky and flavorless, the crab ragoon was nothing but cream cheese, and I wasn’t given any togo utensils. I will not be returning.

We had my son’s Red Egg & Ginger party here, and were very pleased by the experience. We came in about a month prior, and Evan put together a special menu for us, including Peking duck and a selection of vegetarian dishes. Our guests’ palates ranged from no experience with Asian food to discriminating foodies & they all loved it. The back room easily fit almost 50 people & the wait staff was awesome. Loved it & look forward to going back.

We went as a group of 8 and we were treated like emperors and empresses! People were very friendly and service was great! The restaurant is spacious with quiet and contemporary atmosphere. The bar has a wide selection of cocktails and martini. Definitely get raw fish and sushi rolls. They are fresh, delicious, and creative! For traditional Chinese dish I really love the roast duck! It’s juicy and tender! This is definitely the«hidden» gem at virginia beach. Highly recommend this place if you happen to be in virginia beach area!
