Where do old surf boards and skate boards go to die? They don’t die! They find new life at OnieTonie Design Co. Troy Summerell in Studio 17 in Virginia Beach makes some«slap you in the face» works of art! From corn hole boards to custom bicycle paint jobs, floors, wall art. you name it. He has talent and imagination. He even painted one of the huge storage boxes on the beach. This is a fun place to visit and I always see something new and inspiring when I drop by.

I bought one of the Hawaii pieces for my husband as a Christmas present. He and everyone who sees it are so impressed and in love with it!!! They also have events and bring other local artists and companies in to advertise which is very awesome. I love the locality of it and the personality of each piece. They are on Facebook too so check them out and support local businesses and artists!!!

Onietonie Co is situated in a «heART» of a warehouse. It’s one of four rooms inside Studio 17, and it is a must see for anyone that likes to smile. Colors will catch your eye in everyroom, but Onietonie’s «school» of fish is siiick. Skateboards and skateboards are transformed into a piece that make you smile from the inside out. The work consists of vibrant colors and a style all its own. The artists are locals, and have a story. Go chill and check this place out… i think they have food trucks too:)

Fun gallery just off of17th Street. Colorful beach-inspired pieces, and a wall full of hand-painted wooden fish that you must see! Definitely a local vibe, there are some unique finds if you are a lover of Coastal VA and OBX.

Not sure who this stuff is being made for. Circus clowns? Sad children? Artsy-fartsy beach bums? I walked in and wasn’t impressed. Goofy, colorful fish made from old surfboards and skateboards. Save yourself $ 400 and make your own for about $ 30. The name is too hard to pronounce as well. I give it a year. Why is Virginia Beach art so… unnecessary?
