Used to be the best locally private owned plavlce to go for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Now most things are watered down — pancakes are thin as paper, etc., they are using poor quality eveything. And, if you are on a low salt diet then stay away. Prices are going up almost weekly it seems. They don’t hold a candle to Pops Dinner on Greenbrier Pkwy. It’s a true shame as I had been to Pancakes n things with family for 20 years. No more!

Love this place! Wonderful breakfast and dinner! A great family feel! They only take cash but have atm inside the restaurant. Been there many times and it is always clean!

I am not a big fan of this place, however, my dad and my boyfriend love it, that is why I am giving them 3 stars. Everything I seem to order just lacks of seasoning. My omelet didn’t even have cheese in it, it had no taste to it, the hash browns tasted of bad oil. They don’t except credit cards but they have an ATM there. The staff is friendly and the owner is always there. I want to keep trying it in hopes I will find something I really like.

The place is very warm and friendly. The staff is very courteous. Me and my husband went for our Sunday morning breakfast there and ordered choco chip pancakes and vegetarian omelet. The pancakes were good fully loaded with choco chips and omelet was tasty too. the only drawback is that this place only accepts cash. incase you don’t have cash then you can use the ATM machine which is inside the restaurant. And they refund the 2 $ fee if the check is 20 $ and above

I am particular when it comes to breakfast spots. I prefer locally-owned and operated diners as opposed to large chains. I love places that fit into the«Goldilocks» category: not too big, not too small; just right. Great food and great service at a reasonable price. This place definitely fits the bill. It appears small on the outside, but I was surprised at how spacious it was inside. Eveything and appeared to be very clean. I was greeted multiple times before and after being seated. While I was eating, I witnessed one of the staff exclaim about how this little girl was growing up so fast and then she have the little girl a hug. You can tell that the staff at this restaurant are genuine. The menu was quite plain and had a small binder clip used to hold a couple extra sheets describing some of the specials that were available. I decided to order a french toast combination with ham and a side of grits. Food came out fast, was hot and extremely delicious! Some of the best french toast I’ve had in a while. Honestly, all the food was outstanding. The waitress came back often to check on me and refilled my coffee regularly. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience. My only regret is not knowing that this place existed sooner. I give it a 4.5÷5. I will definitely come back here again!

I see so many different reviews on here and they are either 5 or 1 star. If you come in with the expectation of a chain restaurant you will be disappointed. It’s the kind of local place where they know you by name after a couple of visits and the pace is relaxed. I had the lasagna and it was tasty and the portion was insanely big. The serve breakfast all day too, so go ahead and get a side of bacon with that!!!

So far, we’ve been sitting for about 5 mins and still haven’t been tended to. There’s a weird aroma in the air, not really too pleasant. Their sign says they have been in business for 37 years and it definitely smells like it. The menu is really confusing on how to read it and they don’t offer too many options for omelets for non-pork eaters. For parking in the main lot it’s pretty congested there’s s sign for additional parking in the McDonalds parking lot, which is good for busy days. I kind of feel sorry for my kid since she really was looking forward to an activity sheet. Word of advice, if you come here with younger children be sure to bring some sort of coloring book and crayons to keep them occupied during the wait. My daughter became very antsy during our wait. I do like the brick inside and the bay windows I think that’s a little character added but it’s very dark and dingy here. Their salad bar doesn’t look too appealing either, some of their items are in Tupperware that’s sitting on top of the bar. The food for the most part was alright. I had ordered the farmers omelet it was very salty. The grits were good and the pancakes were nice and then. My boyfriend ordered scrambled eggs, house potatoes, turkey bacon and pancakes which he said the eggs were very runny still. I wasn’t too impressed and apparently you have to have cash because they DONOT take cards but if you spend over $ 20.00 they do give you back your atm fee. Most likely I won’t come back here but it was very nice to try out and to take off my list of places to try.

Breakfast was delicious! I’ll definitely be back. Service was fast – no wait to be seated. The food was prepared really fast, too. The décor is really dated. Reminds me of the 70’s or 80’s. The hash brows are very tasty. From what I remember, the meals are pretty reasonably priced but the prices for beverages are steep. We did have a little snafu with the waffle that my husband ordered. It was overcooked and hard as a rock. The server didn’t seem to mind us requesting a new, slightly less cooked waffle :)

I pass this restaurant every Sunday, have always been curious about it, but never went in until very recently. I never knew what I was missing! While deciding on what to eat for brunch after mass one day, I had mentioned to my boyfriend that this place always looked pretty full and how I was interested in checking it out but have never been. So that decided it. And I am so glad we went! I ordered one of their weekend breakfast specials with eggs, bacon, sausages, hash browns, and a biscuit with gravy. It was a lot of food, but I loved every bit of it. I finished my meal so full and satisfied. My favorite part of my meal was the biscuit and gravy. So good! The service here is impeccable. Every single person was so warm and friendly. They greeted us and welcomed us to the restaurant. Our server was great, and our food came out fairly quickly. This is exactly how I want to be treated when dining out. I had a great experience here. I don’t know why I didn’t check it out sooner. And I will definitely be coming back again!

Consistently good quality for the last twenty years that I have enjoyed this place, with the many choices within a five mile radius of my choice places to eat, this is my go to place. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, not fancy, but GREATFOOD. Long time local clientele.

I drive past this place at least 6 – 8 times a day and work less than a ½ mile from the place and had never been inside until yesterday. Although my initial thought, due to the name is breakfast foods, I visited during lunch. They had such a great variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, and platters on the lunch menu, then they have a great list of specials too. I tried the vegetable soup and a fried flounder sandwich, and definitely wasn’t hungry when I left. The soup was delicious, just like mom used to make. The fish sandwich had the perfect amount of breading, with lettuce and tomatoes. I added some of their very tasty tartar sauce. I can’t wait to go try their breakfast.

I like coming here. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. It never is too noisy and a great place to have a conversation. Staff is friendly and attentive to what’s going on. This eatery is influenced by the Greeks and you know they have good food. Stopped in for a bite to eat. I got a grilled chicken club on a kaiser roll w/french fries. It has bacon on it so it sounded good just by the description alone. Tip: They don’t take credit card so always have cash when coming here. «Tip your waitress,» as Lafayette would say. I’ve been here a few times already and am now just writing a review for it. Better late than never I suppose. I will be back.

Not impressed and 2.55 $ for a soda that comes in a child’s cup from 40 years ago. Waitress was not friendly and the food was mediocre. It was a one-time experience.

This has ALWAYS been my favorite breakfast spot in Hampton Roads. Nice family atmosphere(a greek family owns and runs it too). And service is perfect. But hands down… they have THEBEST pancakes PERIOD! Go check them out. You’ll be thankful you did. OH yeah… Their coffee is MUCH better than all other«breakfast places».

Mice breakfast place. The parking isn’t great and the building is old but there is plenty of room. The service is good and the food comes out pretty quick. The fish was very good and everyone else enjoyed there breakfast too.

I want to like this place so badly but like in baseball, three strikes and you’re out! The food is just okay at best. I had pancakes, sausage and grits. A VERY small side of grits we’re almost $ 4.00 which I thought was ridiculous but after adding A LOTOF salt and pepper it tasted better. I could make the exact same pancakes and sausage at home. Yet again, I just wasn’t very impressed. Admittedly, I’ve only eaten breakfast here but they serve a lot of other southern dinner foods. ie: Catfish, collard greens, etc. so I can’t comment on those foods. This place has had some renovations in the last 5 years but they could seriously use an interior designer or Robert Irvine from Restaurant Impossible. It’s stuck in the 70’s! Plus they only accept cash, which is weird for 2015. They have an ATM and will refund your $ 2.00 fee if you spend $ 20 or more. They’re always packed on the weekend so they’re doing something but it’s not a place I want to return to.

Awful experience! First of, cash only! Seriously?! There’s an ATM inside, but c’mon, get with the 21st century. Our waitress was just flat out rude. The hash browns were awful. It was obvious the bacon had been microwaved. Biscuits were really good. Gravy was tasteless. Pancakes were good, but I’m pretty sure they came from a mix. Don’t waste your time or money.
