While I’m waiting here in drive thru to get my chicken for dinner. I figured I would write a review as far as the customer service goes. This has been my first time picking up at this location because the have a drive thru and I felt it was more convenient for me. I’ve had pollards several times and the chicken is fried with the perfect crisp to the skin. Pollards chicken is one of my favorites as far as southern food and fried chicken goes in the Hampton roads area. Although it’s my first time through the drive thru here at pollards. I still felt it was necessary to leave a review based on my experience today. I have to be honest with this particular pollards in regards to them being unprofessional and unfriendly. I know it’s towards the end of the day and they are dying to leave. I have gone to pollards several times in various locations. But this is my first time at this particular pollards and I wanted to take advantage of the drive-thru at this location. I was greeted at the window by «what do you want?» I told them it isn’t 9 yet and asked whether or not they were still taking orders cuz the drive thru microphone wasn’t open and nobody was answering so I pulled up to the window. I placed my order and after I ordered I was told I will be waiting 15 minutes. Then paid with my debit card and they wanted a photo ID. Weird cuz I told them that’s not a credit card. But it’s ok. Maybe its policy for any card holder. The young boy that was at the window who greeted me with«what do I want» wasn’t so professional and I’m worried because I felt as if they were upset at me for being their last customer towards the end of the day. I’m hoping my food comes out fine. I really have been waiting here for more than half an hour and I know they close at 9. It is now 9:23 Did they forget about me?! So I finally got my chicken. They came out newly cooked and I loved the hush puppies. Everything came out fine. For such a long wait it came out as I expected. Freshly made fried chicken with collards, Mac and cheese and fries. At least I got my southern comfort food on and I got everything I requested for. I hope next time I wouldn’t have to wait as long as I did. Regardless pollards still has good fried chicken, worth the wait. Definitely it tested my patience today. I’m not sure if I should give them another go but the. My food came out well. I shall see until my next visit…

Every time I have gotten Pollard’s I am waiting to be wowed because people love to tell you how good pollard’s chicken is but it’s just as good as anywhere that sells chicken. I have tried the fried, chopped bbq, & rotisserie chicken and neither of them were anything to rave about, just okay at best. The sides are not very good, at least not the Mac ‘n cheese which tastes like typical fast food chicken restaurant Mac n cheese, same with the mashed potatoes– straight from a box. The corn pudding is pretty good, I’ll give them that

We had delivery and the whole rotisserie chicken with green beans, corn muffin, and coleslaw. It was all delicious! We definitely order again!

I ordered 2 chicken wings and a side of some sort of greens. The lady at the register treated me like a thief asking for my ID(staring it downnnnnn) when I paid with my credit card. The chicken wings were old tasting, cold and horrible and the greens!!! Don’t order them period, tastes like old grass.

While I think there chicken is good, I also think it’s overrated… to me, the chicken coating has no herb or spice flavor, sorta bland in my book, I fail to see why ppl thinks it’s the best chicken around… good, yes, but best in town… I disagree.

I’ve been here before, and I’ve always left content. Thought I’d try the chicken & dumplings tonight. Not quite up to my standards, yeah, they’re edible but they slid down my throat… like they’ve been WAY over cooked. Also, the green beans had no flavor– like they came straight out of the can. Come on Pollards, you can do better!

This is just chicken — nothing wrong with it but also nothing special about it. It was pretty hyped up to me. Apparently the establishment is over 50 years old, and the chicken has been winning awards for years. But the chicken wasn’t especially crispy. And the meat itself didn’t taste especially fresh — my guess is that it’s kept frozen or is purchased twice a week. But other than that, I can’t complain much. It’s certainly better than grocery store chicken. And it’s a good takeout option if you’re looking for an easy way to feed a lot of people(e.g., pool party or kids’ birthday party).

I’m far from a fried chicken expert but I know what I like. I like chicken with a good batter that’s not too thick and certainly not too greasy. I like meaty and moist chicken. And I like a variety of pieces so that when you buy a dozen or so pieces, you’re not getting half of them as wings. Pollard’s does it right. Popped in on a weeknight for 16 pieces of chicken and 12 hush puppies to go. The gal behind the counter said that it would be 15 or 20 minutes but it was actually only 10 before I was good to go. When I got to opening up the chicken, it was as expected — an even division of wings, drum sticks, breasts and thighs. The chicken was still hot and not greasy. And it was nice and moist. This is good chicken. I’d absolutely use Pollard’s again and again.

Food is awesome, and tasty chicken, but service was horrible. Would return but wish service little better.

I have always loved pollards and yesterday but proved it more. My boss was nice enough to buy me a 2 piece chicken with 2 sides and bread. The chicken of course was awesome. My 2 side’s were green beans and mac n cheese. Green beans were good but not so much the mac. It’s didn’t taste cheesy at all. Next time ill opt for potatoe salad.

Good fried chicken I would recommend swinging in and grabbing a bite to eat but wouldn’t make it a staple of my lunch hour. It’s a once in awhile fried chicken place.

Stopped by yesterday for a late lunch/early dinner. The food, as always, was hot and fresh. The young lady at the register was very friendly also. That really makes a difference, especially when I decide to dine in.

Pollard’s chicken is probably the best chicken spot in Hampton roads hands down. I haven’t been to any place that serves chicken since I had a terrible experience at a chain in VA beach. The chicken has very nice seasoning to it but not over powering. When you order you have to get the puffs. One time I picked up an order and didn’t get the puffs, the wife made me turn around to order a batch. This place really knows their chicken.

I’m not coming back. The white rotisserie chicken’s seasonings were just okay. The actual chicken however, tasted old and gamey. It did not taste fresh; like it had been kept past its due date. The french fries were bland, nothing special. McDonald’s fries are way more tasty than these were. The corn muffin was slimy and tasted like a cardboard box with weak butter. If you go to the drive-thru, be prepared to wait at least 12 minutes at the window.

Oh how I miss Pollard’s Chicken. I grew up eating PC as a kid. As an eight year old mama dukes would send me up the street(five blocks) to pick up eight pieces of fried chicken, fried liver and those addicting ass puffs. I also miss the $ 4.95 total meal price but it’s been 20 years. The PC that I remember so well is now a pharmacy(corner of Bayview and Tidewater in Norfolk. Anyone remember this spot? How about the Central’s which I think was next door?) Sara L hooked it up with picking up 30 pieces for the Unilocaltastic Potluck. I was so happy when I heard PC was in the house. Even better, PC is now in my fridge. Yep, fat kid had to jump in on the leftover pieces. Pollard’s Chicken gives me so many memories. The pieces are fried to perfection and you’ll go into a food coma licking your fingers. Oh and the best way to eat PC… with white rice!

Chicken was delicious! I picked up a 30 piece for the Unilocaltastic Potluck it was so yummy! It only took about 15 – 20 mins for them to cook the food which was great because I was running behind schedule as per usual. Will definitely go back to try out more things! Oh and they have free wi-fi and military discount. Score!

I had only had Pollard’s catering before I came by yesterday and I have to say, it was as good as I remember! To be honest the only other fried chicken that I’ve really had is KFC, so I can honestly say that this place is so much better(and cheaper)! Although they really only have one flavor of chicken, they have many other fried items on the menu including fried fish, clam strips and more! This particular location had a selection of fresh pie slices in their refrigerator that if I weren’t already ordering up a storm, I would have ordered a few pieces to try. I did have to wait like 20 minutes for my food(now that’s commitment!) because apparently they didn’t have enough dark meat. How do you not have enough? Maybe I should have gone through their drive thru because all of them looked like they got dark meat!
