Pizza is life and Ray’s in my humble opinion has the best pizza around. We order food from here two or three times a month and have never been disappointed. The crust is damn near perfect. Just chewy enough. Sauce to cheese ratio is an art and the pepperoni is delicious. They have everything calzones, garlic knots, Stromboli, Tiramisu, cannolis. It’s all there and it’s all yummy. If you order to delivery be prepared to wait an hour but trust. It’s worth it!

After reading these Unilocal reviews, I had to try it. I got a large pepp&onion. I’ll preface my critique by saying my favorite pizza has been Reginello’s at Loehmann’s Plaza for years. This pizza(rays) was a close second, a very good pie… my only complaint was that the bottom of the crust was not done well enough for my liking. I prefer(like Reginello’s)a bit of crisp(and stiffness) to the bottom, even a few dark spots, Rays was barely even brown. Having said that, it was still very good, 5 stars for the excellent sauce! And the ample and evenly proportioned toppings were good. If the bottom crust was cooked like Reginello’s does theres, I would give Ray’s 5 stars. and yes, I will return. I love the sauce!!! P. S…my pie was not greasy!

The pizza is really good here unlike regular dominos and papa johns. I didn’t like the garlic knots much as they are not properly dipped in garlic sauce. One slice of pizza is 2 bucks.

Got the XL for $ 20 with Pepperoni and Hot Peppers. It was good but not great. Definitely better then any chain pizza that’s for sure! Mine probably needed to be cooked a little more which I’ll ask for next time. Pizza on day 2 reheated on a cast iron skillet was very good!

I love a good pizza and had been craving an awesome real pizza. I looked up a few places and this one was down the road. I asked how big a large was and the woman said it wouldn’t feed a whole lot of people. So I grabbed an xl. It was about $ 18.00 and a great price for what I got. The pizza was really salty and very greasy. I pretty much tasted saltiness and not the cheese and pepperoni. They were quick but I like a pizza I can taste. Not for me.

Atmosphere was pretty comfortable and clean. We ordered the the deluxe pizza and it was really fresh and good. Also got the mild wings… they’re not really mild because they still tasted spicy to me but still good overall!

Cali girl in the VA. So this is my 1st time at this place. They’re advertising Ray’s NY pizza well maybe they should just call it Ray’s Va Pizza because NY it is not. greasy and your probably thinking its pizza well yeah but Toppers formally known as Rusty pizza in Cali isn’t this greasy. They’re not’NY pies’ but its whole fresher than this. You know when the toppings start to fall off before you can get it into your mouth something is just not right. The southern hospitality though I do love it so it made up for the pizza. When I go to NY in July I will make sure to order a pizza and if it’s anything like the pizza in San Diego the NY pizza joint which makes dough, hand toss, and fresh ingredients should be just as scrumptious.

Stopped into Ray’s looking for a good slice of NY style pizza and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere is a little run down so I took it to go but my, my, my the slice of pie!!! I’m telling you the slice of cheese and the pep & cheese were on point! Will definitely visit again since it’s right around the corner from my job but I’d visit if it were a little further away, too.

Since we quit Sunrise Pizzeria, we’ve been hooked on Ray’s pizza! Their subs and gyros are also delicious. Pricing is in line with the other places like this. Only things I don’t like are their appetizers(too salty) and I’m not a fan of their pasta(my bf loves it though). They have their menu online but I wish they had online ordering. Otherwise, totally worth trying.

Some background to start: I lived in NYC for 10 years. I know great pizza. I’m also very discerning in my taste and the décor. I ordered their lunch special 2 slices of pepperoni and a fountain drink for $ 5.06 to go. This is what I thought, in the order of my experience. Décor: Shabby at best. Table edges(I noticed) looked like they’ve been around the block for years. Dirty ceiling tiles. Stained floor tiles. Smells like piss/cat piss when you walk in… Maybe they should throw the walkway carpets out? Food: Reheated slices with tasty pepperoni and an extra sprinkling of cheese on top. The point end of my slices were dripping with grease. Maybe a fresh pie would be better? Whatever crispiness my slices had were negated by the grease to give off a soggy texture. Cheese layer was too thick– I like to fold my pie in half lengthwise when I eat it, and thus the cheese thickness became more noticeable. The slices were decently fresh enough, but the above stated cons took away from that pro. Also, I couldn’t help but wonder if I could taste the smell of the restaurant in my slices. I did appreciate the fact that they kept their ground parmesan condiment in the freezer and not in the open. Conclusion: Would I go back for their pie if I had a choice? No. Would I go back if it was the only place open? Probably not. Was it the worst I’ve had? No. Did their décor take away from the pizza experience? Definitely. My belief is that if you are lacking in one department you should more than make up for it in another. Somewhat, but not too much in this case.

Place is always packed especially lunch time and it looks like people enjoy the pizza, because their pizza is ABSOLUTELYGREAT. Try this place out you will not regret it. Great customer service!!! thank you for being so perfect for me …

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat on my lunch break. This place was totally solid! Fast friendly service and the food was on point! I ordered 2 slices of supreme pizza and couldn’t have been happier. The slices were large, packed with flavor, and the ingredients were certainly the best. 2 slices cane with a free fountain drink which was a nice perk. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual. There is nothing that I would chicane about this fantastic pizza joint and since I work right around the corner, I will absolutely be back to indulge in excellent NY style pizza!

We’ve been here twice, and definitely recommend. We have been searching for a great pizza place in the Norfolk/VA Beach area, and Ray’s is our #1. My husband is from NY and actually believes Ray’s is among the best pizza he has ever had! Slices are large, crust is thin, sauce is great, and the toppings are generous(and tasty)! The customer service is also good. Their buffalo wings are good too, but for some reason they gave us ranch instead of bleu cheese dressing…(which is a big no-no for our Western NY family!) Nonetheless, fellow Unilocalers, I highly recommend Ray’s for great pizza.

My husband is a die-hard NY pizza lover and this is one of his local faves. I’m a California girl myself, so not as discriminating when it comes to NY style pizza. I like this pizza because the ingredients are fresh and I like the crunchy thin crust. I’d make a remark about how its easy to eat it with a fork, but apparently that’s NOT the way to eat it. The staff is great and really tolerant of our odd topping requests — ie pepperoni, mushrooms, AND pineapple. We dig it.

This place was great! I left a horrible phở restaurant next door an ordered a pepperoni slice of pizza. It was crispy, fresh, not too greasy, and just perfect! The service was good, the place was well kept, and the vibe was overall positive. The moment I took a bite of my pizza, I was in Pizza heaven. The flavors of my pizza was just that great! Who knew my slice of pizza could indulge my taste buds as much as it did! Must ordered from here!

I’ve been looking forward to trying this spot based on the reviews. I was in the area for a seminar so figured I’d give it a try hoping I could eat in less than an hour. I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan Sub. The smarter folks around me ordered slices of pizza and salads. They were served quickly. :) The wait was worth it. A lot of cheese, good sized slices of eggplant goodnes. Bread was nice & toasty! Yummm. My intent was to only eat half but, that didn’t happen. When I go back, I look forward to trying pizza or calzone next!

Another great pizza find today and my fellow Unilocalers really nailed it. The location of the place is on the Norfolk/Virginia Beach line, but is at the Beach. The restaurant can be an issue to locate if you are unsure where to look. So Ray’s can be found in the AutoZone parking lot on the East side of the road almost on the corner of Newtown Rd. and Virginia Beach Blvd. Parking was interesting since they never removed the old line and put in new one’s in another location… you will see what I mean. The lot was clean and the front walk was tidy. I went into Ray’s late afternoon for take out, but did not put my order in before not knowing the menu. The dining room is squared off, has a checkered board floor, green walls and a whole lot of NY pics etc. There is room for 50 some guest at tables, no booths. I guess the décor works for the place, but I hope they did not pay a decorator. The kitchen is wide open in the back and you can see all the action. I really liked the look of the cooking/prep area. For those familiar with NY style pizza joints you will feel comfortable. A nice young man assisted me with my order. I decided on a peperoni and sausage with a side order of mild wings. I asked about the different wings which come in mild, medium, hot and bbq. I elected to get the mild due to the whimp factor for spicy foods. Prices were most certainly reasonable for what you get. While waiting I checked out the restroom which I found clean. Around 15 minutes, or so later order up and I was ready to head home with the family and watch some football. The pizza and wings were still hot when I arrived home around 15 minutes later. The pie smelled great. The wings smelled hot as in spicy, so we will see. A bottle wine was opened to enjoy with the meal. The pizza was tasty with a lot of great tasty meat. It was also a bit of a grease bath in a really good way. The wings according to my son was the best thing about the meal. The wings had tons dripping sauce, lots of meat and scrumptious. This was a real find because I thought I recalled this place on Joe D’s. pizza list. But it ended up that I was mistaken and lucky to be in the neighborhood passing it by. Any way the reviews from others are very solid and I would definitely recommend hitting Ray’s up.
