Awesome food and price is really good. Cooked freshly just before to serve you, not like any pizza place or fast food just reheated some frozen stuff. I would recommend this place instead of any ihop because you pay some times less money at Rick’s. Its open 24⁄7 and people friendly nice there.

Best all night food I’ve ever had. Never disappointed because the waitresses have a great attitude no matter what kind of drunk people come in. Thanks ladies!

I almost dont want to Unilocal about this hidden treasure chest of delishishness, i kinda want to keep this spot to myself so it doesnt get over commercialized with the long lines and the over crowdedness. I had the«special» eggs bendict with the sliced home fries so good doesnt describe the sensation i felt when i put this scrumptious food in my mouth. Maybe this morning is mixed with my low expectation and hunger, but definitely found my new fav spot.

Unsure about about lunch and dinner but breakfast was horrible. I waited a hour for my food and pancakes came out cold, they tasted like the frozen ones you get from the grocery store. The omelet had a entire green pepper and a entire onion inside of 3 eggs. I’m from out of town and brutally dissatisfied. The Virginia beach area must have better to offer.

Their sweet tea was excellent, service was fast and friendly, and that was one of the best patty melts I’ve ever had! If you ever find yourself down near the ocean front, I would strongly suggest trying this place out, you won’t be disappointed.

Great little spot in Virginia beach. I’m out here for work and was told to try the Flounder! It was some really good flounder. Came with 2 sides, I picked a side salad and fried okra. Also came with hush puppies. Overall great food and I will be back before I leave.

Wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. Came here after reading Unilocal reviews while visiting the area. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with sides of fried okra and mashed potatoes. The chicken had great crunch and the gravy was on point. Fried okra was delightfully crispy. Hush puppies were perfect. The mashed potatoes left something to be desired but with the quantity of food I was given it didn’t bother me that much. My husband had catfish special(small order) and was so full he couldn’t finish his meal. He ordered the tater tots— which I may have stolen several. I would go back for these tots alone!!! My daughter ordered kids French toast and let me know that it was better than mine –no offense mom. She also said we should come back in the morning for breakfast so she could have it again. You could tell that this place is visited by locals more than visitors. They get kind of grumpy when someone is sitting in their booth!!! Will be back here again!!!

Rick’s Café is a fun alternative to iHop or Denny’s after those late summer nights out in Virginia Beach. My friend and I came here after a fun night of dancing around 2:30AM on the 4th of July, and everyone was so friendly from the time we arrived to the time we left.(I don’t think that you usually get that at iHop or Denny’s late at night.) We had two waitresses check up on us during our meal, one of them had rainbow hair, I especially liked her. Anyways on the reccomendation of the staff we got one Rick’s favorite platter with two eggs(we got ours scrambled with cheese), two strips of bacon, two pieces of sausage(patties or links), and two pancakes. We also got the Donna’s favorite platter with all of the aforementioned, only it had French toast instead of pancakes. My friend and I ended up splitting the pancakes and French toast between us. I also got a side of home fries, and she got a side of grits. The food was nothing fancy; however, it was just what we needed, something to quell our hunger after shaking it on the dance floor all night long. We did prefer the French toast to the pancakes, but they were both good nonetheless. You’ve got to come to Ricks Café for good food and a fun friendly atmosphere. I give it two thumbs up. Whether or not those thumbs were tipsy are none of your business. :p

My wife and I eat here nearly every Tuesday after we go to our weekly tanning sessions. This past week was an exceptional time at Rick’s for many reasons. First off, we had our favorite waitress. Not sure of her name, but her hair is two different colors. Second, there was hardly anyone there. When it’s really crowded, the noise of people eating and slurping can be really disgusting. It was nice and quiet except for the classic rock music they usually play. I usually don’t pay much attention to the music, but this time, it seemed to be like all they were playing was love songs. My wife and I felt ourselves slowly falling in love again as various love songs by Queen, Heart, Kansas, Chicago, and Boston played. We both ordered the country fried pork and took turns feeding it to each other. The pork is so tender and juicy. It really is quite exceptional. The Carolina vinegar sauce is exquisite. I’d bathe in it if I could. My wife and I giggled at each other’s stories and shared a quick kiss every now and then. At some point she ran out of sweet tea. I raised my hand and waved and the waitress brought more over. This place is where I would like to have my post-funeral gathering. It’s great. Check out the big ship models and nautical stuff on the wall. The ship captain in a raincoat at the ship’s steering wheel is my favorite.

Soooo goood! Dining out late is always a potential for subpar food, so maybe it was because we had low expectations to begin with? lol We think not. At well after midnight we went looking for a good meal after a long day and we got a great one. We had the half rack of smoked bbq ribs with hush puppies, Mac and cheese, and a side salad; and the pulled pork sandwich. Honestly the food was so good. all of it. Even the side salad which seems like such a simple thing, but it was so fresh and had home made croutons. We took our food to go, but the service while ordering was amazingly nice for being that late at night. They even offered for us to sit in our car comfortably and they brought our food out to us when it was ready. Definitely coming back if we’re in Virginia beach again!

A friend invited me here to have brunch and I was happy to see that I had the choice of breakfast or lunch in the afternoon. I decided to go with breakfast and ordered a Quick Scramble which consisted of two scrambled eggs and a choice of sausage, bacon, or ham. There was also a choice between toast, an english muffin, a biscuit, or pancakes. I went with the english muffin and sausage as my meat. The meal was fine, but I felt like it was a little overpriced for the amount of food I received. In the past when I’ve ordered scrambles at other restaurants they have come with country potatoes or potatoes o’brien mixed in with the meat and eggs along with peppers and onions too. I think in my mind that is what I was expecting so when my plate arrived with just meat and eggs(plus the cheese I requested to add) I was a little disappointed. The menu advertises it correctly I guess I was just hoping for more. Our waitress was very sweet and patient with us as we had a hard time deciding what to order. She offered suggestions and was quick with refills. I do not remember her name but she had dark hair with blonde highlights. If I ever did decide to give this place another try I would request her.

The food and service here was absolutely amazing. We ordered breakfast for dinner and everything was homemade, including the hash brown potatoes. I had 3 eggs over medium with sausage patties. My wife had a mushroom omelette. My kids had 2 pancakes. Everything was delicious. We are not from this area and found this place on Unilocal while staying at the beach. Well worth the 10 minute drive.

I was looking for our usual local breakfast/lunch spot when we first moved here. I believe I found it in Rick’s Café. Not only did I find«The Spot», it turns out that it also serves quite possibly the best ribs I’ve ever had. Fall off the bone tender ribs that makes Dickies look like they’re making their ribs the wrong way. Nothing about Rick’s is disappointing. Their breakfast is superior to any big franchise I’ve eaten in. The eggs are always on point, both scrambled and sunny side up versions. Even the coffee is great, something that, surprisingly, big breakfast franchises get wrong. Everything about Rick’s is perfect, down to the service, the employees. Friendly and professional, with good suggestions on what to order. Since finding it, to this day, we can not find a better place.

Cute, quiet & clean diner on Virginia beach Blvd. Fairly priced & delicious breakfast food. My boyfriend had an omelette & grits which he said was good– he’s a very picky eater. I had the two eggs platter with links & no bread. We both had coffee & juice for under $ 30. We’ll surely be back!

You know, I have been here a handful of times and I have to say that this past time it was awesome. My star review is for the separate occasions I have been here just to be clear. The cons(for me): [Location]It has a smaller parking lot and awkward parking set up. The location is also awkward, you could just drive past it and not even think twice about looking to see it there. [Food]The potatoes are like diced things, they just don’t appeal to me personally, but that is really all I don’t like food wise. [Inside] You need to seat yourself, which wouldn’t be an issue if I never went with a larger crowd. It can only really handle three ‘large’ crowds of like 8 people per table. [Service] Honestly it varies, just like with any establishment, one time the lady was rude and nevrr filled our drinks nor did ahe come to our table to ask us if we needed anything. Other times it was awesome, like this last time for instance, the lady was very attentive and kept our drinks filled. Pros: [Location] If you want a quiet hole in the wall place to simmer down from drinking, getting away from your crazy family nagging you, or just need a moment to yourself-come here. [Food] Get the Ricks favorite, it is cheap, delicious, and can be made quickly. [Inside] They have high chairs available, booths, and it is also pretty spacious for as small as it looks on the outside of the building. [Service] Like I stated above, people have good days and they have bad days, just ask for someone else if you don’t like the service.

Note to self(and for you reading this)… Open 24 hours. For nights at the Oceanfront where I stay out late to play I can go there for a late night meal. It’s not my ideal choice but this sure beats IHOP. They’ve been around since 1986. Their bathrooms appear to not have been updated since then. Bring hand sanitizer. You get a boat load of food for what you pay. For around $ 10 I had: — three eggs(4 stars) — a huge piece of country fried steak(4 stars) — hash browns(home made but was not a fan, 2 stars) and — a stack of pancakes(5 stars) I even added a glass of chocolate milk. Overall, a decent diner with fairly good food. The staff was very friendly. There was an error with one of the meals and they remade it. One thing that I didn’t like was that they were just going to throw away the messed up meal. Is it typical that restaurants do this?(When I worked at one in my teenage years if there was a messed up meal we would eat it in the back. Assuming no one touched it!)

Popped in for breakfast as I was in the area. Simple enough, they manage to have the usual offerings of eggs and breakfast meats and grilled items. I chose«Donna’s Favorite» which has two eggs, two bacon and two sausage(or four of either) and French toast. Two eggs poached were perfectly done and served in a small bowl. The sausages were excellent — good pop when I cut into them and quite tasty. These were not the usual food delivery service sausages out of some frozen packet. French Toast was nice and fluffy, absorbing a good dose of maple syrup as they went down. Coffee was refilled while I waited and then more after I’d eaten my delicious meal. Open 24 hours, breakfast all day. What? I’d return!

My 3rd/4th time here. I rarely pass by this way. Rick’s is like a VA beach IHOP. It’s very simple and gets the job done kind of place. For a 24⁄7 establishment you can’t complain. I’ve liked everything I’ve tried here. Ribs, pulled pork sandwich, with sweet potato tots, fried okra, and Texas toast. Ask for the sauces and your set. Banana walnut pancakes are not bad either. Tried the gravy with biscuits with hash today. My boyfriend got the country fried steak with eggs and pancakes. The hash browns here are SOO good, hearty flavorful chunks of potatoey goodness, compared to the usually puny bland strips you get at other places. The only thing that wasn’t really doing for me was the pancakes. They were just too small and flat, lacked pizzaz, nonetheless they were still good enough to eat. Rick’s is more focused on their dinner and entrée items. Everything else I’ve had was enjoyable. Great place to catch up with friends, make bad decisions, either way you’ll have a good time. Servers here are friendly. They are very attentive unless it was busy like today, but other than that it’s usually not a big deal. They have everything on the table already(syrup, Texas Pete, ketchup). Overall interior is dingy. Outdated décor. Pine green booths, poopy green carpet, against bright orange walls, not the most aesthetically pleasing. Ignore that for the food, service, and good company will make up for it.

After not being able to get in my normal breakfast place due to a 45 min wait… SMH! I decided to run errands until my stomach growled loud enough to tell me it’s time to eat. By that time it was lunch, but I was in the mood for breakfast grub. So out came my handy Unilocal app and whoop! Rick’s Café came up and just recently had a good review come across the feed. Rick’s is located around 2.5 miles from the beach in a strip called Oceana East on VB Bvld. But the strange thing is after almost residing in this city for 10 yrs I have never been on this portion of the blvd. Parking was somewhat limited, but not impossible around 1PM. The lot was tidy, so this was a good start. The building is all brick and they have a corner. Since the establishment is open 24 hours it is a draw to many who work, or party after normal hours. A step inside and it was pretty packed, but scored on a booth immediately. The motif is nautical, but very average on looks. Carpeting on the floor needs to be cleaned, tables and booths are suitable… absolutely nothing fancy. My waitress was on top of my table almost immediately and was great! She walked me through the menu and I decided on Ricks Favorite, two pancakes, two eggs, two sausage patties and two bacon for around $ 9.50. I thought this was a bargain. Coffee and water was out quickly. The cup of Joe was terrific and strong too. As quick as I took several sips my waitress had a refill, service was never an issue on this visit. Food arrived at the table in less than 15 minutes. Everything was served on the same plate and hot. Syrup is kept on the table along with other items a customer may need. The overall meal was average to me with pancakes being a little dry, but still had good flavor. The sausage was extremely bland and tough. Eggs were prepared just right and to specifications. A follow up by the waitress was completed and more coffee was poured. I chatted with my server about the late night crowd. She said it is extremely busy most nights with mainly drunks from the beach coming from clubs. This would not be my place of choice for late night dining probably, but any business that has these hours has to suspect a clientele like this. Check came and was correct. Checkout person had pretty much no personality and forgot to give me back my credit card. This young girl would be best served to not deal with customers. Final thoughts on my first visit to Ricks. AWESOME service, but a blah meal in my opinion. Atmosphere was tolerable, but nothing special. I would like to try them again for another meal and hopefully upgrade.

I came in here today for the first time. I’ve passed it a few times, but had never gone in. I don’t normally go down that part of the road. What brought me to finally come in is that others have been in before and said the place was good. When you come in, it definitely has the diner feel. It’s great that they are open 24 hours a day. I got in early enough this morning that it wasn’t that crowded yet. Here, you just find a table to sit at. The inside of the place is typical of a diner. Colors are mostly neutral. Since it was breakfast time, I had the Donna’s Favorite breakfast. This includes french toast, two eggs, two bacon, and two sausage(though you can do all bacon or all sausage too). Service was fairly quick, which wasn’t too surprising since it wasn’t busy yet. The food was good. They have syrup bottles already on the tables, so it isn’t hot syrup that other places may have. Overall, the food was good, and would come back here again. Next time, I might come in for a dinner. They do have nightly dinner specials. Overall, this was good place. However, there are a few reasons why I only gave them four stars instead of five. First, some of the food was warm, but not hot when it came out, so that means it might have sat at the window for a bit before it came out to the table. The other reason for this was because the bacon came out very greasy. I had to use the napkins to get the grease off of the bacon. I understand that there can be some grease on the bacon, but it shouldn’t be swimming in it. I was impressed overall with the place. Don’t let the last paragraph deter you from coming here. It is definitely a good place. When I was leaving today, there was traffic backed up trying to turn left into this place.
