I came here about a month ago and was really happy with my food but the service was horrible. It was almost an hour before the hostess noticed that our waitress never even said boo to us. Then after that it was another 10 minutes before our waitress came. She never offered to Bri g us bread or anything to munch on. We were pretty hungry at this point and would have appreciated something while we were kept waiting. They didn’t compensate anything g either. I felt they were rude and could not have cared less. Did I mention it was only is and 2 other tables of people in the restaurant? They were NOT busy. When the food finally came, it was very good but I would not ever say excellent. They are currently closed. They closed out of the blue one day and even their neighbors(the bakery) do t know why or when it happened exactly.

The food was ok but took a very long time to be perpared and brought to the table. Our waitress, Rachel, was extremely friendly and checked in on us frequently during our wait. The atmosphere is cozy and nice for an intimate dinner. Our salads were fresh with ingredients that really complimented each other. The sweet and sour shrimp was tasty, and full of flavor. The tempura batter was a bit soggy however. The chicken pad thai was good but missing a few authentic thai spices.

Excellent service by Devon our server. He created a special drink with my favorite liquor, Hendricks gin, by asking me what flavors I enjoyed. His creation was the«Devon Drop» with Hendricks, St. Germain and fresh lemonade. Amazingly refreshing and delicious! Our visit to Salt was an experience of atmosphere, flavor and service. We believe dining and drinking are experiences that should be cherished and enjoyed. The service was outstanding and we were made to feel welcome. The executive chef came out and talked to us about our meal and explained his thoughtfully prepared dishes. Cocktails and food alike were made with love and attention to detail. We will be back!

First of all our server was awesome!!! Appetizers were good.: Dinner not so good you could tell the head chef had the day off, umm lots to say about that. I was sooo looking forward to the shrimp tempura dish I saw the table next to us get it and it looked fabulous… What a disappointment… 1. If your going to sit a table with a line of sight in to the kitchen make sure your sous chef isn’t on the phone while you are waiting what seem like an eternity for your food considering we had the last order at 745ish and that’s stretching it… 2. Please make sure that the food is prepared correctly shrimp tempura should never be mushy(undercooked) on the inside and jasmine rice should definitely never be overcooked!!! 3. Duck when asked for medium should be brought to the table medium and not medium well and cold. It had jasmine rice as well so that was over cooked also which was a total fail… 2 out of 3 dishes blahh… Not sure if for us it would be worth going back… Menu looked great and the drinks were fabulous …

I have yet to have a bad meal here! The half price wine night on Monday is something I look forward to each week. The bartender Daniel is so amazing and his knowledge of wine is spectacular. He will never steer you in the wrong direction! Their happy hour menu is so fabulous that you should bring a friend and pick and choose different dishes, so you can try everything. Bulgogi wraps are my absolute favorite! The tenderloin with butternut squash risotto will have your mouth doing a happy dance! I also must recommend the lamb shank… fall off the bone and you really want to pick up the bone and lick the plate clean! Crème brûlée is my all time favorite dessert of theirs. It has the perfectly«burnt» sugar that you break through before you plunge into the most fabulous custard! I highly recommend this restaurant!

We’ve been waiting 50 minutes and still don’t have our food. The restaurant is half full and there’s only 1 waiter who looks stressed. This is a disappointing Restaurant Week experience :-(. We finally got our food. The tomato bisque and cranberry and walnut salads were good. Unfortunately the chicken in the pad Thai was dry and our Korean BBQ sandwich only had enough meat to cover half the bun. At least I had good company in the form of my typically positive fiancé who said, «This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had.»

Had lunch here earlier this week during Restaurant Week 2015. My friend and I scoped this place out hard when we were looking for somewhere we could sneak off to during work to have lunch. We both ordered the same thing from the Restaurant week menu for $ 10 total — a pretty sweet deal. We started with the Asian salad which was a huge portion for a lunch salad starter. It was a giant bowl full of goodies and it was really good. It had carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers and a really yummy asian salad dressing. The main course was a Korean BBQ sandwich which had a little zing to it with a chili sauce, it was good, but had some fatty meat(shaved tenderloin) which tasted great but I’m funny about chewy fatty textures. The french fries were REALLY good. Nom noms. My friend saw a seared tuna appetizer with crab meat and wasabi. It was yummy too. We had a good time — it was pretty crowded due to restaurant week but they had the kitchen running like a well-oiled machine and our server was pretty prompt and polite — though it did take a long time for him to get me some water once the food came. I cut him some slack though since I saw he was running around like crazy and not just being sorry. I asked for some nice quiet seating and they easily accommodated that. I appreciated that — they took us to a slower side of the restaurant to a nice table away from the huge crowded main dining area. Win! I’ll be back — we had a good time and I saw some other things that looked pretty good. I’d been meaning to get over here and try it anyway so I’m glad Restaurant week prompted me to finally do it.

I’ve been wanting to get back to Salt ever since the Unilocal event a year and a ½ ago. Everything they served us was really great & the place seemed perfect for date nights. When Restaurant week rolled around my fiancé & I picked Salt for lunch. We were seated in the back corner & I enjoyed that much more than if we would have been seated up front. Our server was friendly & attentive. I picked the Spicy Tomato Bisque for my 1st course and it was my favorite part of the meal. It was delicious. The curry made it & I can’t wait to try and attempt to make it at home! My fiancé ordered the goat cheese and cranberry salad. It was pretty as a picture, filled with fresh goat cheese, cranberries, and walnuts. It was large and he enjoyed it. For the 2nd course we both wanted to try each sandwich, so I ordered the Kalua pork sandwich with field greens and he ordered the Korean BBQ sandwich with fries and we split it all. We were both disappointed in the Kalua sandwich, mainly because we make it at home on occasion and ours has way more flavor. It was just a little bland for our liking. We both liked the Korean sandwich & loved the dressing that was on my field greens. Definitely a more formal spot than where we normally dine, but I really want to go back and try them out for dinner. Especially Tuesday’s when they run their date night special, $ 50 for an appetizer, 2 entrees, and a dessert. Martini list also looked delish.

This is the second time to have a restaurant week lunch here. $ 10+tax+tip is a good deal. I liked Korean BBQ burger and tomato bisque so much when I went there for the first time. I ate butternut squash bisque, salty and strange temperature as nuked, and Shrimp Pad Thai. I wanna more flavor for it. If they put a small fresh salad or line or something on top or side, it would look and taste nicer. Shrimps are tasty! I waited for a while to get dishes. It was not that crowded tho. The staffs are alway nice. Also I like they use a simple white table cloth. Super clean and tidy here.

My boyfriend and I stopped in for a Saturday night dinner after he was awarded the job as Salt’s newest painter. We sat @ the bar and enjoyed absolutely everything! You can tell they are serious about their food and it shows. I was lucky enough to meet Daniel, one of two owners who guided me in his personal recommendations for my taste. Here is a list of what was sampled: 1. Lobster Bisque, my first bowl ever, scouts honor. Huge lumps of Lobster meat, not too salty and smooth to perfection. 2. Furikake Seared Ahi–(Jumbo Lump Crab, Crispy Wontons and Sesame-Scallion Aioli) This was my favorite item of the night. Tasty and beaming with flavor. I may just order this solo with a salad next time we return… that good! 3. Hereford Beef Tenderloin, Seasonal Vegetables, Butternut Squash Risotto, Dijon Thyme Demi Glaze. As suggested I ordered the beef medium which was the perfect temperature. You are offered a boxed steak knife @ the beginning of the course but it is not necessary, you can literally cut it with a fork. The Butternut squash risotto was a first for me as well. It paired perfectly with the beef and I actualy enjoyed my leftovers tonight which was just a good the second time around. I believe that Devin was our servers name, he was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. He has one of those bright personalities that rubs off on people. I can’t wait to return in the spring when we can sit on the patio and relax under the bistro lights. If you are looking for something new or a classic date night I highly recommend an evening here…

A couple of weeks ago, Coastal Virginia magazine offered a daily deal($ 50 coupon for $ 25) to Salt, a restaurant I had heard good things about. They were only offering four of the deals, so I quickly snagged one, and made a reservation for Graham and I to have dinner there. We went Saturday night, and had an excellent experience. First off, the place was DEAD, granted, we got there at a fairly early hour(I made the reservation for 6:00), but when we left around 7:30, there weren’t that many more tables there. While I hate it was dead, we received excellent service. Our server was friendly, knowledgable, and attentive without being overbearing. He made recommendations, joked around with us, and checked in with us often. Considering the mediocre service we’ve received lately, it was a very pleasant change. We started with a sangria for me, a German beer for him, and the bulgogi wraps and an order of the Asian chicken noodle soup as our appetizer. Both were delicious. The soup(rice noodles, carrots, oyster mushrooms, cilantro, scallions, Napa cabbage, scented with lemongrass, ginger and garlic) was perfect. My allergies have been bothering me a lot lately, and I haven’t felt great, and this was exactly what I needed. The stuff in the soup was good, but the broth was amazing. The wraps(sliced Hereford tenderloin, pickled carrot, sliced garlic, chili paste, and crispy duck chicharrone with leaf lettuce) were delicious as well. There was a ton of meat though, and very little carrot or garlic. There was enough meat & lettuce leaves for us to make two large wraps each, but only three pieces of carrot, and three slices of garlic. For our entrees, we both ordered seafood. I had one of their specials, the scallops, and he had the whole fish(that day it was mackarel). I honestly think he only ordered the fish to mess with me. I had scrunched up my face when the server started talking about the fish(I’m sorry, I don’t want anything that still has a head & a tail on my plate), so of course he had to order it, so I would try it. The fish was served with jasmine rice, vegetables and a coconut curry sauce. I have to admit, the fish was delicious, and the sauce was amazing. I would have loved to have had a little of that to go with my scallops. My scallops… oh goodness. I’ve been wary of ordering scallops since the massive scallop rip-off of 2012 at Savoy 1620 back in Little Rock. But these sounded amazing, so I went with them. They were a special, so I don’t remember exactly what was on them. I do remember he said they were dusted with a wasabi powder. There wasn’t an overwhelming wasabi flavor, just a hint of heat. But the scallops themselves… oh goodness. They were huge, and perfectly cooked. They were served with equally delicious mashed potatoes, and overcooked aspargus(the asparagus was limp, and I like it to maintain a little bit of a bite). We were way too full for dessert after all of that food, but maybe next time. This place is a little pricey(my scallops were $ 30, and G’s fish was $ 28), but the food was worth it. The fact that the restaurant was so empty makes me sad. People, I beg you, try local restaurants when you dine out. There is so much out there that is so much better than Chili’s or Outback…

Class act by Salt today. The local Bayside eatery provided Church Point neighborhood which it’s business adjoins to a day of oysters, barbecue and beer for it’s annual picnic all gratis. The owners and some staff were on hand in four stations to pull this all off. All the food was wonderful and the gesture of kindness HUGE!!! Thank you Salt, I will be back in soon.

Had dinner here last night, it seemed a little slow for a Friday night, but yay for us we got sat right away. Our server sat us and brought us water, but as he spoke to us he ran his hand around the inside of the water pitcher which was a little unappealing. I have been wanting to try the restaurant FOREVER! Hawaii girl in need of Asian fusion food. The appetizers were amazing, the seared tuna was flavorful and cooked perfectly, the bulgogi wraps had amazing flavor, and the fillo wraps shrimp was also delicious. For our entrée we decided to split the Black Sea bass, and this is we’re the dinner went bad. The fish was smaller than described by our server and was not properly scaled. I had informed the waiter, and he just took the plate away without asking if we wanted something else. About 5 minutes later who I believe was the manager came out and what felt like an interrogation asked if the scales were by the head, because the fish was unable to be scaled there. He also asked if we bothered to tell the server earlier on we didn’t like it. The way he handled the situation was poor. After the server without another word about it brought us our check, like we were being asked to leave. I definitely won’t be back. Horrible customer service, I dine out for an good time and awesome food, which this place lacked.

I was a bit disappointed, to say the least. I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, and decided to make reservations for my wife’s birthday. I kind of wish we had gone somewhere else. First, they need to do something about the acoustics. With a full dining crowd for dinner it was LOUD. Like, I felt like I was in a bar — not out for a nice dinner. We were seated quickly, and the hostess was very friendly and nice. We waited for about 10 minutes(no big deal today, as we were still waiting for other members of our party) and the waiter came by and took our drink orders. I then read the menu probably a half dozen times, and waited 25 minutes until the waiter came by and took our appetizer and entrée orders. I ordered the cheese plate, and for the price — it’s not the best cheese plate I’ve had. It wasn’t even memorable. We also had the bulgogi wraps, and they were just OK. When our meal finally arrived — I wasn’t super impressed. The rack of lamb that I had was well cooked, and seasoned well — but the shrimp my wife had was unlike any other tempura shrimp I’ve had in my life(and not in a good way). Tempura is usually light and airy, and this was dense — and a little bit greasy. If we had received better service, or if their acoustics were better — I would probably give them a second chance. But truth be told — there’s more than enough nice restaurants in the HR area, so I probably won’t be back.

I visited this restaurant for lunch a few weeks ago after being encouraged by its positive reviews. I was also attracted by the culinary style of this restaurant, which was described as Asian Fusion. I have enjoyed a lifelong passion for Asian cuisine. Unfortunately, my first visit turned out to be a major disappointment. For starters, I ordered their Asian Chicken Noodle Soup. It was described on the menu as follows: «Rice Noodles, Carrots, Oyster Mushrooms, Cilantro, Scallions, Napa Cabbage Scented with Lemongrass, Ginger, and Garlic.» It sounded delicious. Like with most chicken soups I’ve tasted in Asian restaurants, I expected to see a deep golden colored broth. Instead, it came with very dark colored broth, one which reminded me of Lipton’s Onion Soup broth. The dark broth was severely miscast in this soup. The chicken pieces were scanty, and the rice noodles were almost nonexistent. In fact, it wasn’t until I got to the bottom of the bowl until I was able to locate a few stray pieces of rice noodles that had been overcooked to a state of oblivion. The carrots and other vegetables appeared to be floating aimlessly around in the soup, most of which finally settled as a small clump at the bottom of the bowl. I could barely taste the lemongrass, ginger, or the garlic. Perhaps, I came at a bad time, one in which the kitchen lacked the necessary ingredients to do proper justice to this soup. If this was the case, then I feel that I should have been informed accordingly, so that I could have made a different selection. After finishing this soup, I wished I had gone to Phở 79 instead, where I could have enjoyed a vastly superior chicken noodle soup(Phở Ga) for about a dollar more. For my lunch entrée, I ordered their Fish Du Jour, which was described as Flounder with Thai Black Rice, and Tomato-Bacon Brussel Sprouts. The flounder was served as two extremely small filets. The brussel sprouts tasted like they might have been boiled and were overcooked. Its combination with the tomato sauce did not work for me, and I could barely detect the bacon. I enjoyed the taste and texture of the black rice, but it was not enough to redeem this dish. Overall, their lunch sized portion of this entrée was extremely small. After I paid my bill and left the restaurant, I was still feeling hungry. On the positive side, the service was very decent and accommodating, which rescued this review from a one star rating. In spite of what sounds like a dismal review, I do plan to return. It is my intuitive sense that the kitchen staff, for whatever reason, probably had an off day. I have read too many positive reviews to think otherwise. I especially want to return and try one of their whole fish dishes. I saw a photo of their Whole Red Snapper dish on their Facebook page and would love to give it a try. I have a passion for whole fish dishes, and I wish that more restaurants in our area served them. This review was written in the spirit of constructive criticism, in hopes that the issues cited above will be corrected and that my next dining experience at this restaurant will be a more positive one. When I do return, I will be rooting for their kitchen staff to deliver the goods.

My first time trying restaurant week in the area and with a bunch of great friends built up the anticipation of eating at this place. I didn’t realize that this place is pretty much surrounded by a bunch of other restaurants I keep hearing of like Lubo’s and Mannino’s. Service. Top notch! We found our friends and ordered drinks. Unfortunately some of things we ordered were no longer available(a sign of our good taste), but our waiter went above and beyond and got us of samplers of what he thought we should order instead. Never been to a place that just automatically does that. We were kind of slow in ordering our food and he gave us a heads up just how long the wait would be with how busy the place was. No problem with us as we enjoyed catching up with everyone at the table. Food. I started off with the Lynnhaven oysters. I loved the taste of the oysters itself and they gave a few big ones in there. I wasn’t that big of a fan of the mignonette that came on top of it. I probably would have just gotten it on the side or not at all. For entrée, I ate the salmon and it was one of the best I’ve had. Crispy skin and well seasoned! Finishing up the meal, I ate the chocolate salted mousse. Definitely something different with the addition of salt. I enjoyed the salty/sweet contrast, but I know when my boyfriend took some bites of my dessert he ended up with a big piece of salt throwing off the taste. Quite an enjoyable night out with friends to experience such fantastic food and service!

My boyfriend and I absolutely love this place! We came here for lunch, during restaurant week, but looking at the prices, it’s not that much different. For our appetizer we ordered the Asian chicken noodle soup and the oysters! The oysters were fantastic! The sauce was so good, I wanted to get another order. The Asian chicken noodle soup was good too! It was so flavorful, and had a ton of ingredients, which my boyfriend loved. As for our entrée, I ordered the smoked pork belly sandwich, and he ordered the Korean BBQ sandwich. I thought my sandwich was Better than his, but both were very good. I must add that the fries that come with the sandwiches is really good as well! I love how this place has a twist on Asian dishes! We are definitely excited to come back and try other things.

The upstairs private dining room is on point. Tonight I had a private party hosting a client appreciation dinner. Everyone that attended had never been before and Justin, the head chef, came through like a champ. My lamb rack was phenomenal. My clients raved about the duck. People were excited about the tenderloin. The salmon was absolutely delicious. There was nothing but rave sayings about the entire night. This is a great spot to host a 10 – 25 person private party. We had dedicated staff who were fully attentive to our needs. They were on top of ensuring our appetizer section was full and keeping my clients and me with a full glass of specialty beers and wines. It was really easy from start to finish in planning and execution. I highly recommend this private room. You already know the food is great!

I’m glad to see they finally opened this place up to add to the choices on the Pleasure House Road corridor in Virginia Beach. While I just had lunch today, I was impressed with the whole experience. The décor is elegantly minimalist and the servers are all very engaging, friendly and efficient. Even the owner, Daniel, came up to me and chatted for a bit and thanked me for coming in. But restaurants are in business to sell food and drinks and even on this initial visit I see signs of something worth my repeat business. I tried one of their lunch specials, the Korean BBQ Rib Eye sandwich with a side of fries. It was crazy delicious with a topping of pickled veggies and just a hint of a chili kick. And the fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I could have opted for a side of asian salad but I decided to let my not-so-inner fat kid have the spotlight today. And if I was really trying to be healthy I would have had the trio of Ahi sliders. Oh well… opportunity missed. I had a chance to look over the Asian fusion themed dinner menu and yes, many of the selections are on the pricey side. However, if the sandwich was any indication, every dish is made with top notch ingredients. I don’t mind paying when I am getting my money’s worth. The wine list is quite extensive with many unusual selections but I only saw a few wines by the glass. I did not see a Sauvignon Blanc offered by the glass, which is my better half’s fave. Hope that gets fixed soon. Also, the beer selection is excellent. Microbrews on draft and they even have Dogfish Head 90-minute IPA by the bottle. Overall I really enjoyed my lunch today but I am going to wait until we try them for dinner before bestowing my fifth star. I want to see how the service holds up when the place is packed. I do get a sense the team at Salt is up for the challenge.
