Sundial Motel

Very sweet staff, room is clean, and for the price it is just right. The only thing is we had trouble getting clean towels. Other than that I would definitely recommend this motel!

Great little gem! It doesn’t look like much from the outside but the rooms were comfortable and clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, the beds and pillows were better than my own and its a block and a half from the beach. What more do you need?

Out of necessity, we booked a room here for a cheerleading competition because it was the only place in town with vacancy 6 weeks before the event. I was actually very nervous upon arrival because I’d read some very unfavorable reviews.
I was pleasantly surprised. The room was actually a 2 star room, let’s be honest, but the place was clean enough that we felt comfortable enough staying there and for that alone they can have 3 stars. I’ve been in nicer, but dirtier, rooms. The price was on par with the room. We paid $ 325 for two nights in early May. The free wifi, kitchenette and in-​room safe were nice bonuses.
The common areas were dirty and not well kept, but again I didn’t expect much.
The location was fantastic. We walked to the convention center, all the restaurants and the beach. We literally parked the car (free parking) Friday evening and didn’t move it until Sunday after we checked out.
Unfortunately, the street noise was unbearable. I’m not one to usually be bothered by the sound of traffic, but we were lucky enough to score a room just above a McDonalds drive thru which featured d-​bags revving their car engines at all hours of the night while waiting for their McFries.
If you decide to brave this motel, request a room above the main office or by the pool. My husband wants to book again for the competition next year but I would rather pay an extra couple hundred bucks for an oceanfront room at the Holiday Inn.

Stayed here during the Shamrock Marathon. Sundial Motel served its purpose, e.g. close to the starting line, free parking. The doors and walls were thin as I could her the neighbors and street noise. Towels provided were thin and resembled hand towels vice bath towels. Bed was comfy. Flat screen TV was functional. Again the bare essentials were available here along with friendly customer service.

Looks can be deceiving! It didn’t look like much from the outside, but it’s actually really great place near the beach that won’t break the bank. The housekeeping staff was excellent (shoutout to Julia and Jame for keeping my room clean). Everything was good, my only complaints are that the Pool was a bit too small and the Wifi is terrible! Ran threw my data plan because the wifi here was average speeds of 0.38 Mbps. And the pool only goes up to 5ft and has a maximum of 20 people. But other than that this place was excellent, why goto the pool when Virginia beach is a block away right? But I wished the wifi worked!

So when you think of motels… you pretty much get the gist of what one looks like. The outside is a little dated and the painting inside the room is a pale yellow but who cares? After reading other reviews, I was really nervous. But to my surprise, this is a really nice motel. For peak season … the prices were really REASONABLE. My only complaint is the water pressure. I wear glasses and this is the first time ever I didn’t have to take off my glasses to shower. My family and I literally stood right up under the shower head to rinse off and get cleaned. It would have been nice to have had more water pressure. Other than that … friendly staff and the rooms were really clean. We will stay again.

Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but our room was everything we expected and more! Nice beds, great sized kitchen with table and chairs, clean bathroom! Very clean room. Housekeeping was great with keeping up on our towels, making the beds, and cleaning our room while we were out. Housekeepers don’t really speak ENGLISH, but they were very pleasant. Only one thing aggravated us… We drove over 9 hours, we called prior tell ask about early check in and was told it wouldn’t be an issue. We arrived about 10:45am after driving all night. We were told our room was not ready and it would be a COUPLE HOURS! After driving and being stuck in the car that long we needed to check in immediately to just simply relax and get some rest to enjoy the rest of the day. We went back at 11:35 and was told it would still be another 45Mins. Finally was able to check in at 12:35pm or so! I think it should be top priority to clean a room that is reserved and has requested an early check in. Everything else was great! Kitchen in our room had silverware, plates and cups even! We were really surprised at how nice, clean, and overall efficient this motel was! Great spot, walking distance of bars, restaurants, shopping, and beach access! We will stay again! The outside isn’t much to look at but we were pleasantly surprised by the room. It was very large and the bed was quite comfortable. They need some better lighting though, particularly in the bathroom/​vanity area. There’s a fridge and microwave which came in handy and we could see the ocean from our 3 rd floor room. The area around there was pretty loud with lots of police sirens through the night. I thought the price was a little high for that place but considering its peak season and it’s a block off the beach it’s not too bad. It’s relatively clean for a beach motel. The staff were friendly as well.
