Sunrise Pizzeria

We ordered delivery and when the food arrived, it was all cold. The white pizza did not have ricotta on it as described on their menu and was just generally not that great. The tiramisu I ordered was also frozen in the middle. The food wasn’t terrible by any means, but it definitely wasn’t good. I wouldn’t recommend ordering take out from here, but perhaps the in restaurant experience is better.

I don’t know if it’s because I was starving and they happened to deliver (major find), but this all over the place pizzeria did the trick for me once or twice.
I say all over the place because if you take a look at their menu, you’ll see they are far more than just a pizzeria — you can order burgers, gyros (super random!), full on dinner meals, philly cheesesteaks, and on and on. The options are overwhelmingly endless. Which I find it to be hilarious.
I’ve had their gyro and tried the Hawaiian calzone and lasagna and I have to say it was pretty satisfactory. The calzone lasted me for about 4 meals (the large one — it is humongous!!) and the lamb in the gyro was surprisingly tasty.
Now for the main reason for only 3 stars. The staff wasn’t the most helpful and dare I say, a bit rude. They told us initially it would take 45 minutes to get our food last time we ordered, and a bit over an hour later, we called asking about our order and they told us point blank we were wrong, it had only been 30 minutes. Not what you’d expect, sheesh.
I have a feeling I’ll give them another chance — when I forget to bring my lunch to work, and can’t take more Jimmy John’s or chinese — so see you soon Sunrise «probably not pizza» Pizzeria.

Pizza is the best and the staff is always super friendly and the delivery driver is super nice and fast we love you guys, we order all the time from Coastal Breeze Carwash! go eat there they are great!

I work in an office down the street and every time I order from Sunrise they are always quick. The employees are friendly and the food is delicious and affordable.

If you like pizza cooked on a conveyer belt oven, go for it. I thought it sucked, and so did my wife. Neve will I get a pizza from this place sgain.

Ordered their square pepperoni pizza and mozzarella sticks. Not impressed at all. The thin crust was soggy from too much grease and the taste of the pizza is comparable to larger chain restaurants. The pizza also arrived barely warm and the mozzarella sticks were cold.
Was worth a shot but I’m not ordering again.

Stuffed pizza is freaking amazing!
After trying to figure out what pizza place to order from and calling the first choice and finding out they don’t deliever, Unilocal you did let me down, but totally redeemed yourself because I remembered Sunrise!
We got hot wings, which I so appreciate the size of the Wings. And the steak and cheese stuffed pizza. Huge pizza! Saved some for breakfast the next day and it was excellent.

I will never do business with this company EVER! Horrible Service, took over an hour to get my delivery, they sent my delivery guy to norfolk and i was in VA BEACH! Cheese was old and smelled weird. Food was Cold and waste of money went into the trash and ONLY REASON I PAID IS BECAUSE YOU SENT AN OLD MAN SENIOR to bring me my food. I felt bad for the driver ONLY !

When we first came here we were worried that the food would be mediocre because of how many things they offer. Most of the time, if a restaurant has a ton of options their food is unremarkable… at best. We have been coming here every month for a year now and have yet to be disappointed! We try something new every time we come in and almost all of it has been amazing. I don’t really recommend their burgers. Though juicy, they are flavorless. Their blackened chicken salad is to die for but should be bigger since it’s meant to be an entrée. All of their pasta dishes are amazing and are big enough to feed a small village. The pizzas are hot, cheesy, handmade disks of deliciousness. Finally, their cannolis are amazing! They are so crispy (which I love in a cannoli) and sweet and decadent! Give this place a try you won’t be disappointed!

We order out all the time. 4 different departments. This place sucks. Rays, Harold’s are the best. Not bad food just crappy management. CYCLE WORLD will never order here again.

I was staying at a nearby hotel that didn’t have room service, so I ordered from here. I wanted something light so I ordered a salad and a BLT. The girl who took my order was nice, and actually suggested both items.
The BLT was all burned turkey bacon, she told me ahead of time it was turkey bacon which I have no issues with, but it was burned, and tasted horrible. I was starving so I ate some and ended up throwing the rest away. I should have took a picture of the food, but I didn’t think about it at the time, but if I did I think you guys would be in shock with what the food looked like. I think I ordered the buffalo salad (recommend by the girl) and it was also horrible. The dressing was overkill and way too much. I ended up throwing all the food away. The only thing I ate were the fries and those were ok. I asked for extra ketchup and they only had 1 in my bag.
I would definitely never eat from this place again.
Note to the manager: Double check your food before it’s delivered. Ask yourself would you eat this? And if the answere is no, then don’t send it out. I rather wait a few extra minutes and get decent food then end up throwing everything away.

2 years ago is when I first when to Sunrise Pizza and the customer service was good but the food left me sick and vomiting so I never went back and I told everyone not to go. I just recently decided to give them another chance because I heard it was under new management and I have not been disappointed since! I LOVE their burgers and fries and pizza. haven’t gotten a chance to try anything else but I WILL!!! The staff was also very nice to me even once bringing my pick up order to my car while I was waiting in the parking lot. I’m sorry to see the bad reviews this place has gotten but I LOVE SUNRISE and now I’m addicted!

I never even got as far as ordering my food so I cannot comment on the food itself. My bad experience was from their customer service. I called to place a delivery order for our office. I had 4 separate orders. Here I am trying to give them 4 orders that could turn into 4 future customers and they acted like I was inconveniencing them and was told I needed to go to the website and do the orders online myself. They also wanted to charge 4 separate $ 1.50 delivery fees. Also, they were going to charge extra (as 2 extra toppings) to get lettuce and tomato on a sub! I said forget it and through away their menu and called Mamma Mia Pizza instead.

Oh nooooooo. Didn’t like anything about my visit here. Pizza was gross. I literally ate less than half just because I was starving and threw the rest away. And to top it off they had the nerve to take forever preparing my order. Won’t be back.

This is my second time posting this review, so I give Unilocal a 1 star right now. The review shows up in my account on this restaurant, so I’ve copied it from there to repost. Bad Unilocal is bad. Fortunately this restaurant is a lot better.
I have been eating Sunrise for about 5 years. I eat there frequently and have tried just about everything on the menu. This is a great place to order if you know what to order, and what to avoid.
To people who are trying Sunrise for the first time, here are some quick do’s and don’ts:
Do try:
— Pepperoni Pizza — really good firm crust and a thick layer of cheese with flavorful pepperoni cooked to slightly burn the cheese every time.
— Baklava — very very good thin filo dough with nuts and honey.
— Homemade Chips — seems like they slice potatoes thin and pressure cook them or something, any which way they do it, they’re great and not something you can get at most places. These are served with the lunch specials, you have to select a type of Potato Chip with the sandwich to order them. It would be nice to see them more clearly on the menu as a side that you can get all day.
— Jalepeno Poppers — a very nice tasting popper with cheddar cheese inside and a crunchy crumb coating on the outside.
— Chicken Alfredo Pasta — real chunks of italian seasoned chicken in a heavy cream parmesan sauce with your choice of pasta. Even better if you add Baked Cheese to the top for a small charge.
Some other items that are «OK» but not overly great: Combo clubs, cheeseburgers, cheesesteak, executive sub, meatball sub, hot italian sausage, and the fried chicken.
Don’t try:
— The Salad — opt for the soup versus the side salad with your entrée — the salads almost always have poor quality or wilting/​slightly rotting lettuce. The tomatoes are waxy. I could get past the tomatoes, although even a small grape tomato would be better, but the browning lettuce is one step from the garbage pile and is a huge turn off to the vegan types who like fresh vegetables.
— The Chicken Parmesan — they use these freezer patties that have probably never seen a chicken, not tasty, at all.
— The Chicken Tenders — they bread these with a very heavy cornmeal style batter and all the skin and gristle is present underneath its very thick layer, a heavy and tasteless version of tenders that will not leave you wanting to get those again, or to even come back.
Some other comments:
— Shrimp that are listed as «jumbo» are actually normal sized shrimp.
— Some other pluses about ordering here — they are open later than most places, and will deliver rain, sleet, or snow.
— If you spend over $ 30 with your online order you get a 10% off bonus. You cannot include any specials or discount items in the $ 30 that counts towards the 10% off.
— They offer many drinks to choose from and their fountain drinks are mixed well enough to be tastier than bottled or canned drinks.
Since I see the owner responds here sometimes, please please please do something about those «don’t» items above, especially the salads, which should be easy to fix. I wrote this review not only for new people to see what is good, but also for you to see what your most loyal customer thinks is good and what needs much improvement. I also would like to see more varieties of soup on the menu, and the ability to pick which one you want. A tomato basil would be nice in addition to the classic chicken pasta soups made daily.

It’s a little mom and pop type joint but the staff was incredible and the food was yummy. It’s a small little place inside a shopping center attached to a foodlion but if you’re looking for quality food for a low price I would check them out!

First, let me start off by saying that I’ve been a fan of Sunrise since 2010 when I lived in the Denbigh area of Newport News. When we moved back to the Beach, we were ecstatic to see that they opened up another location so we continued ordering as usual. At one point, we were ordering several times a month! We are great customers and I make it a point to tip well and in cash.
The Pros and Cons listed below are based on our 5-​year tenure as Sunrise customers. What prompted this review is towards the bottom…
PROS:
— Online ordering (an introvert’s dream!)
— Large menu (for when you want delivery that’s NOT pizza, wings or Chinese)
— Excellent lamb gyros, antipasto salad, baklava, ziti/​pasta and loaded fries
— AMAZING cheese pizza
— They email coupons and delivery folks are nice
CONS:
— Delivery of even a few items sometimes takes up to 45 minutes
— Desserts are overpriced (or under-​portioned)
— Some menu items are
— I haven’t received a coupon email since Sept ’14. Not sure why.
— Daily «specials» are lame
— Cheese pizza is ONLY good when ordered by the slice
BAD EXPERIENCE:
It is with a VERY heavy heart that I share this horrible, horrible experience that ruined our dinnertime this evening. We hadn’t ordered from them in a while but we did today because of the winter storm bringing us 8 inches of snow.
In my pics, you’ll see a screenshot of our order along with THE sorriest cheese pizzas. Dry, limp, lifeless, sad, COLD with the «sitting out all day» taste. The cheesy bread was just as bad (cakes were okay though). It was so terrible that we couldn’t finish the food. 2 hours later, we’re still fuming and upset having wasted $ 40 and having to throw out 1 whole pizza, half of another pizza and the cheesy bread.
After 5 years, we are saying goodbye to Sunrise Pizzeria. We are beyond disappointed with the quality of the food they had the gall to bring us tonight and we will NEVER order from them again.

We ordered from here last night. My husband picked up our food. I should have known that with a menu so extensive, that the quality of the food would be so-​so.
Pros– my husband ordered the meat lovers stromboli. He enjoyed it. We also got ten naked (no sauce) chicken wings for my son. He liked the wings.
Cons– the crab balls were awful, with no flavor, and complete mush on the inside.
I also got the fried flounder with fries. The fries were limp and way too greasy. The fish wasn’t too bad, but the flavor was just meh.
Overall, we might order from them again and stick to pizza and wings.

Ordered here last night for the first time. We ordered wings, homemade chips, chicken tender kids meal and chicken Alfredo. Homemade chips were good. Next time ill add cheese. Wings were pretty good and so was the kids meal. The menu said a hearty portion of noodles and sauce. Good lord when it arrived they weren’t lieing. I has enough for dinner, breakfast, lunch, and dinner again. I wasn’t thrilled by the way it was delivered. Half the sauce was in the bag. Makes me wonder if they shook the bag before delivery. I’ll try the food again but I hope the delivery will be neater next time.

The food has declined in recent months. What use to be good is now awful. The portions are minimal now, the prices are not, the last 4 times we ordered it was wrong. After the last order was burnt and then the verbal abuse and lying of the manager we are done. Although one of the owners did finally offer to replace our meal, it’d taken days to get in touch with her. So what shouldn’t of ever left the kitchen to begin with, a meal that we couldn’t eat, that was ordered because I was to sick to cook, the offer was to little to late. So take heed and go some place else. Unless you want to pay for what you DID NOT order and then if you decide to complain, be prepared to be treated like you’re the one that’s wrong. Ibraham is the rudest manager I’ve ever dealt with in my life. IF he’s even there when you call.
