Been here before and have always enjoyed the food but my husband Bobby had never been so we came for lunch so he could check it out. He had the chicken Reuben & said it was VERY good! I had the baby Greek salad, which I shared with Bobby and still had plenty! It is a wonderful Greek salad with lots of feta, onions, green peppers, pepperchinis, fresh garden tomatoes & crisp lettuce. Love the dressing! Just the right amount of tang from the vinegar & herbs! Then I truly enjoyed the Mesquite chicken sub! Loaded with flavorful grilled chicken, onions & green peppers, topped with lots of melted Swiss on a toasted sub roll. Couldn’t eat all the bread so next time I’m ordering just the ‘insides’ with a side of a small piece of toasted bread. Great, friendly & quick service!!! YUM!

Harold’s has good service but the personal pan pizza is pretty bready but the veggies pizza wasn’t as much. After I told them that it was to bready the owner allowed me to order something else so I order a chicken tender kids meal with fries. The fries were really good and so we’re the chicken tenders. So overall everything was really good.

On March 31, 2016, I went to Harold after reading reviews on this site. I ordered the garden pita, what was a treat because it was delish. On April 4th I returned and ordered the same thing to see it would be the same and by godly it was just a good. Yay, Harold you have won yourself a new customer.

Harold’s is a family-oriented restaurant! I love how nice the wait staff and owners are! And the food?! The pizza is THEBEST in our area! Hands down! I always get the Harold’s Special pizza or I order the Pastrami Sandwich along with steak fries. And SERIOUSLY, you have to order dessert! The Owner makes everything from scratch… brownies, Kongo pie, cheesecake, carrot cake… whatever… If she made it, you are going to want to live there!!!

I stopped by Harold’s for lunch. I’ve been in the Pembroke area for a few years and I just noticed it(shame on me!). I try to support locally owned businesses when I can, especially restaurants so I thought I’d give this place a try. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger(cooked medium) with steak fries. It was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. The meat was fresh, not frozen, and the fries were nice and crispy — hard to do with steak fries. I’ll definitely come back more often. I heard one customer say he wanted«the best pizza in Tidewater.» Sounds like a good enough incentive for me to come back.

Never judge a book by its cover. This place is probably one of the most friendly places in the area. They make you feel at home. I ordered the bacon burger and added BBQ sauce. It was great! Would highly recommend.

Veal parmasen… well it was veal. in a patty that I can get at Farm Fresh(5 for $ 1.99), drowned in sauce and cheese to disguise it. So for $ 12.50 I got 50 cents worth of salad(ask for 2 dressings as 1 won’t cover it), lots of spaghetti(50 cents worth), a 50 cent veal patty, a mediocre beer, nice service, but I won’t be back.

This is a nice place — nothing fancy here. It was moderately crowded for a Tuesday night but the service was good. They don’t rush you. I had the Smothered Chicken, mixed vegetables and a Baby Greek Salad. The portions aren’t huge compared to other places which is fine. The salad and chicken were very good. My one knock would be that the Mixed Vegetables were straight out of the can and not seasoned very well. I did see the Harold’s special pizza at another table. It looked great — lots of toppings, beautiful color and the cheese looked plentiful.

Burgers are wonderful. Pastrami is very lean and always order the steak fries. Friendly people and casual atmosphere. A great place for lunch for a family dinner.

I came here for lunch with a couple coworkers. We decided to split a couple appetizers and share a Harold’s pizza just so we could get a little variety. For appetizers, we ordered their calamari and fried mushrooms. The batter on both of those was really good. The mushrooms came with a horseradish sauce on the side that complimented the mushrooms well. The calamari was standard calamari(no bodies) and cooked well – but nothing to write home about. Also, I felt like there was a lot of empty batter on the calamari plate after we were done. The pizza was good. It had a good amount of cheese and the combinations of toppings was fantastic. I wasn’t thrilled about the limpness of the crust – it forced me to eat with a fork, which I really don’t like to do with pizza. The flavor of the whole thing was good. I’ll be sure to give them another shot soon.

Pizza gets the best cheese award! Meatball sub is one of a kind. It’s a sliced meatball sub, so don’t freak out if you don’t see round hunks of meat. Just close your eyes, take a bite, and when you float back down to earth, take another bite. If you are looking for a place with a lot of tv’s and free wifi you might want to try someplace else. If you like to talk and listen to people with very little background noise… Enjoy. Peace, quiet, great food. I have been coming to Harold’s since 1990, it used to be called azalea inn. Take a couple of your favorite people, get a pitcher of beer and a pizza. You won’t be dissapointed.

I went to Harold’s for lunch with a friend of mine based on a recent discovery made possible by Joe D. that Harold’s use to be affiliated with Azalea Inn and their pizza was good. But I didn’t go there for the pizza, only because it wasn’t what I was feeling. I wanted the bacon cheeseburger with steak fries, and that’s what I got. I will admit, when my plate came to me I was slightly disappointed at the number of fries that were NOT on my plate. My friend and I looked at each other like, «this is it?». I then told her that we’ll probably eat our meal and realize it was just enough fries… and you know what? It was. The burger was a little dry, but probably my fault because I ordered it well-done. I just have a hard time ordering any burger not well done because I have stories about ground meat and bacteria and I’ll just stop there… My friend ordered the same thing but got her burger medium well and she said it was very juicy. So the place was outdated, but who cares? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I can’t imagine that this place does so much business that they are truly worried about the décor. They do what they can and make decent bar food. The waitress was SONICE! Very attentive, very quick, and very good at selling those massive brownies of theirs. They are $ 3.50 but all proceeds go toward their fundraising efforts for the American Cancer Society. Very cool!

The pizza was just regular pizza. The décor was very outdated and kinda scary. The place was empty but it was still difficult to get a refil on my water or soda. Not a fan. Please call Chef Ramsey or Chef Irvine.

I have been a long time customer of Harold’s and have been coming here off and on since the mid 90’s when it was still called the Azalea Inn 2. Back in those days it was more of a bar crowd. Harold bought out his partner in the late 90’s and Harold’s was born. These days it’s a straight forward family restaurant. On my latest trip I stopped in for lunch and had a bacon cheeseburger. This is a huge burger served any way you like it with a side of steak fries. I’ve added a picture to the review. Beside consuming mass quantities of beer back in the day we used to come here for Pizza. Harold’s makes an excellent one hands down and if you like pie, stop in and try one. Other items of note are their lasagna’s, burgers, sandwiches and last but not least Brenda’s deserts. BTW all money from her deserts go to the American Cancer Society. Check them out if you’re in the Pembroke area. They’re beside Barnes & Noble facing Va Beach, Blvd.

I’m really surprised at the low reviews on this place. I love this place. I’m an alumna from Princess Anne High School, which is right across this place. Ever since my freshman year, I have been a theatre kid, so I would have to stay late at night rehearsing for shows, and one day, my friend introduced me to this family-run place. Outside, it looks kinda… enh. It’s unassuming. Inside, it looks just like what someone has previously said, like an airport lounge. The décor’s definitely like a very old, outdated restaurant. There’s a bar island in the middle of the restaurant that usually has 2 – 3 middle-aged men there. It’s true. I’ve been here several times, and I have never seen it packed. At most, I’ve seen 4 tables besides mine to have people, but they are generally old people or a family filled with children. It’s weird because it’s right across a high school, and there seems to be no teenagers there ever besides me and whoever else I’m with. The service is great. The family that runs this place is always friendly and is always attentive. Although, I mean… there never seems to be alot of customers, so I guess they have no choice but to be attentive. The wait for the food is average. The best food to get here is PIZZA. I always tell other people that the best place to get pizza in Hampton Roads is Harold’s. I love Harold’s pizza! Their pizza is the type that when you pull of the pizza, the cheese will like… stretch. Mmm… mozzarella. The pizza also has a great price. I think that’s why parents bring their children alot here, too. I sometimes get the mozzarella sticks for appetizer, too(I love mozzarella cheese.), and they’re kinda overpriced, but they’re sooooo good. I think this place is a nice place to hang out. Not exactly a young age of customers besides the kids, but I think if they fix up the décor and put on some good music, that can change. After eating here with friends alot, even now that I’m out of high school, I know that this is a great hangout place.

I’m thinking I was too enthusiastic about Harold’s in my first review. My girlfriend and I went there the other night. She had never been, and afterward she told me, «Don’t ever bring me there again.» I was inclined to agree, having been thoroughly disappointed with poor service and a pasta dish of noodles in grease with a few shriveled cuts of bland chicken. When a pasta dish can’t clear the bar set by Fazoli’s, that’s a problem.

A very good place to have a quiet meal with friends. If you don’t mind listening to staticy easy listening radio piped into restaurant. The décor could use some work. It has an overall feel of a dentist’s waiting room/airport lounge. But the food was good. Not food that is particularly memorable, but good in the same way a friend’s mom cooked you a meal. We shared the spaghetti with meatball(singular, since it was a good fist sized meatball) and the gyro. The meatball was wonderful– well seasoned and moist. The sauce was also good, but a bit on the sweet side. I really wished they had drained the pasta a bit more before serving it on the plate because I would up with a puddle of water under the noodles. The gyro was good, but again, not memorable. It seemed that the popular dish there was the pizza, so on our next visit we’ll have to give it a try. The dessert was the one thing that did make us take notice. We shared a slice of coconut crème pie and it was excellent. Not overly sweet, with a very light topping. I’m not sure if the topping was merengue or whipped cream, but it was good. I’d definitely go again to try the pizza and other items on their menu(which is a mix of Greek and Italian fare).
