Great place to buy cigars. Employees are very knowledgeable and friendly. They have a great lounge for spending time with folks who are there for same reason. Great atmoshere.

Generally it is a great experience to visit Emerson’s. My main gripe, which may stop me from returning, is the way the staff attacks you when you enter the humidor. Every time I enter the humidor a staff member almost sprints in. Makes me very uncomfortable since I am not a thief and would like to wander around while I shop.
Does not make for an enjoyable shopping experience.

I was greeted by a friendly employee almost immediately as I walked in. There is a huge walk-​in humidor that takes up almost the whole left side of the store. Very impressive selection of cigars. The employee that greeted me when I walked in the store came in the humidor to see if I needed any help. I was very impressed with this. A friendly welcome and enough time to allow me to look around on my own and a non rushed followup to see if I need help.
The store has cutters you can use if you don’t have your own, which was nice because I was visiting the area on vacation and did not bring mine. The store also has complimentary matches. I was hoping for a torch lighter since that is what I am use to using. But I have to admit the matches made a nice souvenir.
The cigar lounge is in the back of the store. Four comfortable leather chairs and 2 or 3 bar stools along the wall. Large flat screen TV on the wall. There were 3 guys in the lounge smoking and it was obvious that they were regulars at the store and all knew each other. Very friendly group. Great experience.

While serving in the Navy up in Norfolk I picked up smoking cigars. I visited Emersons in VA Beach Blvd for my first cigar purchase. I was quickly assisted and they agreed with all my ideas of cigars I wanted to try so I knew I had researched properly. Sure enough, for the next 4 years I went back and back and back again. It still is to this day, my favorite cigar lounge. I visited as many events as I could. Thanks to them I was able to meet Rocky Patel, and Michael Giannini of LGC. The owner Scott is an absolutely wonderful person. He was nice enough to replace my Emerson’s Xikar lighter after having lost mine 3 or 4 years down the road. He even sent me a complimentary fishing hat because he knows I love to fish.
Over all Emerson’s is a great establishment, full of helpful and knowledgable staff members that are more than happy to share their knowledge. Their venues are an absolute pleasure to sit down, smoke and watch some tv.
Highly recommend Emerson’s to any in the 7 cities who loves cigars!

I was in the Chesapeake location today, and I was looking for some pipe tobacco.
Upon entering the store the two employees behind the counter gave my wife and I a seemingly judgmental look. From the look I received, I guess they were not impressed with my laid back weekend dress. So of course I greeted them with a polite, «Hey, how ya doing». I then asked them if they had any pipe tobacco. One of the guys pointed me towards their selection of various tobaccos. I was impressed by how many they had!
Now this is why I am writing a review for the Virginia Beach location.
As I looked through pipe tobacco, smelling the ones that caught my attention, an older gentleman enjoying a cigar came by and asked me what I was looking for in a tobacco. He recommended a few and shared a wealth of knowledge about the flavoring and what made them each different. Turns out he was the manager of the Virginia Beach location. I can’t remember what his name was, but i really appreciated him sharing all that information and technique with me.
After returning home, I packed my pipe with a Proper English tobacco, and had a very enjoyable smoke, that was full of flavor, and lasted quite some time.
Needless to say, I will highly recommend Emerson’s Cigars to all my friends with special emphasis on the Virginia Beach location. They have a customer for life!

Emerson’s is THE place in Hampton Roads for cigars. Don’t let the small store front fool you, this is a good sized store, with a nice little lounge in back for hanging out, reading or catching a game and they will sometimes have a fresh pot of coffee going. The walk in humidor is very well stocked and organized. They have all the paraphernalia any cigar smoker could need, if they don’t have the exact thing you need/​want, they will call another location to check for you. They also have a good selection of pipes and a very good selection of pipe tobacco and some import cigarettes. The staff is always fantastic, if you are a noob or old pro, they are helpful and willing to offer suggestions without being pushy or overbearing. They also have tasting events and meet and greets with some of the big names in the cigar world that are a lot of fun.

There aren’t many tobacco shops in Virginia Beach, especially ones dedicated solely to the sale of cigars! Emerson’s has an incredible selection of smokes and accessories, all of which are more than reasonably priced. I honestly don’t see the markup here. They do a phenomenal job of pricing and selecting the merchandise.
The walk in humidor is stocked with a range of cigars covering all price points… they also regularly mark down cigars so there’s always some type of sale going on. The premium cigars boast the most impressive price tag, certainly some of the cheapest I’ve ever seen. Humidification is on point too – right at that sweet spot where they’re not too dry but not too moist either.
Directly to the back of the shop is a lounge area. Seating about 7 — 10 people comfortably, this little haven offers a nice size flat screen and a wi-​fi hot spot! The store itself is actually pretty big too, so there’s more than enough room to smoke while viewing the products in the shop… no smoking in the humidor though (just to clarify because some shops/​bars are ok with it).
Customer service was great. I went in looking for the Xikar desktop lighter which they were out of, but they did check their other locations. Though they didn’t have it I was referred to their website which is very informative. Aside from the sale of tobacco and accessories, they also offered amazing deals similar to those in the store. You can also stay up to date on various events throughout the year. With several different locations all throughout the Hampton Roads area, I plan to check out all of their locations. Hopefully they only get better.

If you’re curious about cigars and pipe tobacco, please don’t hesitate to stop by and just ask anyone here for help. I’ve been here a few times now and everyone I’ve met was very knowledgeable and friendly. There are a good variety of brands and the staff can point you to a good $ 4 cigar as well as a $ 25 one.
The fun part is the smoking «lounge’ in the back of the store. They have a couple of big, deep leather couches, an easy chair, and a couple of stools surrounding a big screen TV. You’re more than welcome to put in a movie, watch whatever is on TV, or turn on some music. There are a few sodas available and free coffee. It’s a cozy place to to enjoy your smoke and kick back.
Great place to kill some time instead of a bar.
