Up, up and buffet! I love all the nuanced flavors and high attention to detail of Sushi Capitol but there are other times when I just want to stuff my face with cream cheese and avocado laden rolls without paying a hefty price. Sushi King is the answer! This is a place that pleases Americanized-Japanese food lovers on a budget of all ages. $ 16.99 gets you an unlimited supply of miso soup, seaweed salad, and made-to-order rolls! Here you don’t have to worry about people sneezing all over your spicy tuna rolls because everything you order is prepared to your specification in their open air kitchen. For those who want to try all of their roll concoctions, you can even order half orders so you don’t waste anything. I went with the Santos clan and it looks like the table favorites were: + Hibachi Steak Fried Rice — We were surprised by how tender the steak was and they even offered to do double meat with every order. + Mini Corn Dogs — For the kiddos, but the adults could not help but nibble on this carnival favorite. + Yellowtail tuna carpaccio + Avocado Salad + Volcano Rolls, Crazy Monkey Roll, Spider Roll and Sea Angel Roll The next week, the boy and I went to get sushi and paid $ 14.99 for one Spider Roll. Sushi King was sorely missed immediately. Manage your expectations and wear stretchy pants and you will be a happy camper!

Kon’nichiwa!!! If you are a Sushi loverrr, Sushi Buffets, High-five ! I know there are many places to eat sushi, but this place was just around the corner. Our waitor, displayed great Customer service, «flawless», he prolly woke up like that, lol! Anyways back to the food, I order my usual Veggie tempura appetizer(Sweet Potato only), shrimp tempura appetizer, and avocado salad. As for my rolls, I had ordered the King Roll: shrimp tempura, eel, cucumber, and avocado on top with Eel sauce. I had also ordered the Evil-mind Roll(sometimes, I’ve got an evil mind): salmon, avocado, and cream cheese, with Eel & eel sauce on top. I love me some cream cheese! Both were consisted of 8 pieces each. And to top it off I had ordered a Large Saporro, Japanese imported beer. Let’s just say, I got real tired from all the food I ate. Prices are pretty good for ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT-SUSHI place: Lunch: $ 11.99 Dinner: $ 16.99. Domo Arigato Gozaimasu!!!

I love eating here. The food is yummy and the place is nice. I’m not a big sushi fan, but they also serve other foods that don’t serve sushi. Their hibachi tastes good and the gyoza! So does the teriyaki and the fried rice. My boyfriend loves eating the sushi here. The staff is also nice and friendly. This is my favorite Sushi King location in the area.

Went here last Saturday to get dinner with my boyfriend and some of his friends. It was my first time here and it was a group of six. Me and my boyfriend shared crab bites, shumai, edamame, spicy tuna rolls, spicy california rolls, spicy shrimp rolls, volcano rolls, salmon sashimi, and sea angel rolls. I really liked the crab bites and volcano rolls the most. For $ 16.99, the buffet was worth it. Other sushi restaurants tend to have sushi that isn’t fresh and for a higher price per amount. Our server was very nice and she refilled our drinks and took our empty plates often. Despite our somewhat large group, our food came out quick and fresh. We also finished dinner with some rainbow sherbet. Definitely will come back soon!

Sushi King is a pretty good place for an all you eat sushi for its price… Lunch $ 11.99, Dinner and Weekends $ 16.99! I come here a lot with my sister and cousin, they are sushi lovers! Sushi King has a variety of options not just sushi, which is good for people that don’t like sushi much. As appetizers I love and recommend the Shumai, Gyoza, Edamame and Vegetable Tempura! As my entrée, I usually get the Hibachi Steak with extra white sauce(YuM). To be honest I’m not a huge fan of raw sushi, so I usually order the cooked sushi. I love Shrimp Tempura roll, Volcano roll, Spicy California Roll and the Crazy Monkey Roll! I always ask for spicy mayo sauce too on the side to dip my rolls in, instead of soy sauce. Customer Service is wonderful here, so friendly and attentive! PRO: Food is delicious, and great portions of the entrée dishes! Great service and very clean! CON: Long wait on food sometimes! OVERALL, I like how their is a variety of food to choose from not just sushi and it’s an all you can eat for a good price. I recommend this to all sushi and non sushi lovers lol

Really good food. Made fresh to order. More than sushi, so very family friendly. Crazy Monkey Roll(fried banana, crunchy topped. crab meat, spicy mayo & dynamite sauce) was really good.

I love this place. Has a varied menu, so even your non-sushi eating friends and family can eat. Very nice acoustics. In most busy restaurants it can be so load that you can’t talk to your table mates. I have a Son with Autism, we were able to stay and eat there because it wasn’t too noisey to overload his Senses.

This place is amazing me and the wife go here a lot, like a few times a month. Her favorite is the avocado salad its always fresh everything is made to order, my parents who have never tried sushi before and gagged at the thought love it they went back a couple days later. They have hibachi choices, noodles, dumplings. This place is awesome.

3.5−4 stars. I’ve been to this location several times. This was my first time for lunch and first time back in maybe over a year. I recall being disappointed several years ago with dinner so, haven’t been back. Yesterday’s lunch experience has won my vote. For the price, it wasn’t bad. I say it’s definitely worth a try especially, during lunch. I was surprised to see it so packed! I enjoyed the cooked food and the salad bar options the most. The flavor & consistency of the sushi rice was acceptable too. Service was the best I’ve had at any Sushi King. Not sure if it was because of the server or if all servers are as pleasant. I noticed no one(employee) was looking at my plate like a hawk to make sure I finish all of my food and that truly made the experience more relaxed! Thank goodness!!! I realize there are some customers who take advantage but, monitoring paying customers like children is the biggest annoyance at most of the AYCE made-to-order sushi the buffets I’ve been to. So, thank you. I will try again during lunch.

I am sadly disappointed, hard sticky rice and paper thin fish on the sushi. Awful…go to Burger King.

This is where I go to «feed.» When I need copious amounts of clean protein and carbs I will go for the all you can eat and get 8 – 10 full rolls of sushi and 2 – 4 orders of just chicken/veggie hibachi. It sounds disgusting… but honestly this stuff is delicious. Sometimes the quality varies depending on the staff but overwhelmingly the quality is similar across the board at the Sushi King locations-although this location has the White Dragon Roll and the ice cream is cups rather than a soft serve machine like the Little Creek location. The sushi is comparable to nice restaurants and at $ 16.99 a person you really can’t be it when you eat as much as me.

What can I say, it’s the freshest, best tasting sushi I’ve found! I was loving Yukai, but sushi king is made to order so it’s not sitting in the open air forever, making sushi king the clear winner! Also, since it’s made to order, you can change ingredients however you like. Try it, you’ll be glad! Plus $ 11.99 sushi lunch buffet is a great deal.

I like that it’s so cheap here. It’s not my fav AYCE /all you can order sushi place in the area, but it’s def worth the price. AYCE for $ 11.99 for lunch, $ 16.99 for dinner. The hibachi is pretty good here, the rolls aren’t as quality as Kagura or Sakura, but the convenience of this location is good. I heard the Norfolk one is better, but I still haven’t been. This place is pretty big, it is great for huge parties, but just be patient since everything is made to order. I like how the soups, cucumber/seaweed salads, and other«salad/fruit bar» things are there buffet style as you wait for your order to come out. Also, one time I ordered edamame and it tasted like they spilled the salt on there. Ew. Not my first choice in sushi places, but you get what you pay for.

Décor inside had mood lighting and an elegant feel. Service was excellent! My server was very friendly and attentive. Not only is their menu all you can eat. But they have a little«salad bar» that’s included. It also has miso and clear soup(where you add your own tofu, seaweed, and green onion) and many other sides like mussels, seaweed salad, and ice cream cups. The only«meh» part of my experience was the green tea. I received a cup with hot water and a tea bag, it wasn’t that great. Sushi pieces were good. I also ordered a pacific roll and a dynamite roll. They weren’t he most expertly crafted rolls I’ve ever had, but they were decent, tasted good, and didn’t fall apart with chopsticks. The cuts of fish in rolls were so so, but what should I expect from and all you can eat joint. Overall it hit the spot. I would come back for a sushi fix. Active duty make sure you bring your military ID for a discount. Be warned, the nearby Bingo place fills up the huge parking lot. You might not be able to find parking right in front of Sushi King. There will be parking, but it’s easier to park in a farther part of the lot than look for a super close spot.

All-time favorite sushi spot. I’ve been going here for a while, then when I moved to CA last year, I was sad they didn’t have something like it, which was surprising. You can get good AYCE sushi for a good price. So worth it!

I have been to the location on more than one occasion. The place is visually appealing but the service at times is spotty. As far as receiving our food, sushi wise, it took some time, but the appetizers were quick. I tend to over order the Shumai(Shrimp Dumpling) and the gyoza. My go to roll is the Saint’s Roll(it has mango!!) Everything there is clean and I wouldn’t say it’s the best place for gourmet sushi, let’s be real, it’s a buffet. But it’s a great deal for what you get.

So my visit here with my husband last week was my very first time trying sushi, and thanks to the delicious food at Sushi King, it’s now one of my favorite foods! I love the fact that it’s all-you-can-eat, so I was able to try multiple different kinds of sushi and find out what I liked and what I didn’t like. I also tried the chicken teriyaki just in case I wasn’t a fan of the sushi, and it was quite delicious as well! The restaurant itself is very spacious and clean, with a great atmosphere. Our waitress, Taylor, was so incredibly sweet and personable. She was also very quick at getting us our food and refilling our drinks very often. We will absolutely be making a trip back here very soon!

So when this place first opened, one of my girlfriends and I tried it. It was when they still had«lunch specials» as options, and not just the all-you-can eat buffet. That was a couple years ago, and it was a «so-so» experience. We said we probably would not come back. But when I lived in Richmond, my boyfriend and a few of our friends tried the Sushi King buffet there;(I know they are all the same company), and I was impressed. Everything I ordered tasted great! Fast forward to yesterday, 9÷24÷2015, we returned to this Kempsville/Centerville location to give it another shot. Now, the only available option for lunch is the all-you-can eat buffet. So that’s what we had. The seaweed salad, crab salad, other salads, and soups are now self-serve, at the«buffet bar,» but all the sushi and other food is cooked/made to order. I liked the shrimp tempura app and gyoza. Everything else was disappointing — all 3 rolls of sushi that I tried, yikes. I didn’t even want to finish them, but didn’t want to be charged that extra fee for leaving too much food. The place is still pretty — very pleasing to the eye, but the food, not too pleasing to the mouth. There are definitely better sushi/ayce sushi spots around.

I’ve been to the Sushi King in Richmond a countless number of times, but this has been the best experience I’ve had! Although we went during the dinner rush, everything was so quick! We were seated immediately, because of the ample amount of seating in the restaurant. Each of our orders came out relatively quickly as well. There’s not a huge difference between this restaurant and it’s counterpart in Richmond, except for the fact that it’s kitchen is located in the center. Also, instead of having soups and salads on the menu, you can get it yourself, buffet-styled. There are also a couple of different special rolls such as the Golden Lobster, Virginia Beach, Sea Fashion, and Oishi. Besides that, it’s still AYCE, and the prices and quality of the food is the same. Of course, the fish aren’t of great quality, but it’s very decent for the price. My personal favorite is the Spider roll! Some tips: if you want to try more without overstuffing yourself, I believe you can ask to order half the serving size of any special roll. Also, don’t over-order and not finish, or else they will charge you. I’m a fan of Sushi King, and I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the area!

We treat ourselves to the buffet style Sushi King every once in a while mainly because our kids can pack away food and you just cant beat the price for the amount of food that you get. Only issue is that I feel like a fat slug after I leave. It is in a strip mall right next to a thrift store. So, not a high brow on the location meter. We have been to the Norfolk and Hampton locations and I think our family liked this one the best. First, for a buffet sort of place, this location had nice dark décor. They also had a salad bar and small desserts. The Norfolk location doesn’t have this. They also had a slightly different menu. I like the spicy sushi rolls and they had one called the Ichiban roll that I really liked. My family likes to take samples of all different types of rolls and appetizers. It is a good learning experience. They also had steamed shrimp at the salad bar, and I tore into that. In addition, our waiter was super cool and very friendly. He interacted with my kids and it was just a pleasure when you run across someone who is friendly, appears to like his job or even if he didn’t, he was still good to be around. I always ask my son to rate the bathrooms for Unilocal and he gave this one a 3 star rating. When asked why, he told me that there was toilet paper all over the floor and that the water pressure was extremely weak on the sinks. I went to check it out myself and he was right. Not a bright spot for the restaurant, but overall it was a good experience.
