We stayed over the summer, the Belvedere is sort of a classic beach hotel which appealed to us. We were greeted at the front desk upon arrival after our trip and everything was smooth getting into the room. We enjoyed our breakfast at the attached diner; the wait staff was very pleasant. The beach access can’t be beat of course, my son enjoyed using the bikes that are available, and I enjoyed sitting from the balcony watching the ocean, and one night the fireworks. The only wrinkle to the trip was a bizarre interaction about a luggage cart on the way out. My son went down to ask for one, and while there was one available, the attendant told him it could not be used as it was his, and was for arriving guests. After two trips up and down in the elevator and the hot sun with bags(we were there a week), I did say enough of this, and asked him for the cart myself. He reluctantly loaned it to me, saying again that«what will guests who are arriving do?». I replied that I was also a guest who happened to need a cart now(as opposed to the hypothetical guests he was saving the cart for), and I’d have it back to him in five minutes. Despite the bizarre back and forth on the way out, the experience at the Belvedere was a net positive, and I recommend it.

What a gem. A great local hotel with great ownership, updated nicely and good location. The rooms are good but normal. It’s a nice option for something smaller and not a big chain. Beach location is great and the bikes you can just grab and go are a big bonus. All rooms have views that are great

We chose to stay at The Belvedere for our first visit to VA Beach because the price was unbeatable for a beachfront hotel with a heated pool. Upon arrival, my friend and I were greeted by two super kind, super smiley, super helpful folks who run(own?) the place. Check-in was a breeze even though we had booked through Expedia which always seems to confuse things. The place is old and hasn’t been renovated in quite some time but they’ve done a really great job decorating it to make the rooms classy, warm, and inviting, not to mention very clean. The view from the balcony was fantastic + we were able to sleep with the door open and fall asleep to the waves lapping the shore. It’s the type of family run place that has a book lending library and a guest book for folks to leave comments. Also, they sell beer/wine/water/sunscreen/etc. in the front office which we found to be very convenient. Additionally, as a total bonus, they offer bikes for guests’ use which was a fantastic way for us to explore the entire expansive boardwalk. Lastly, although checkout was at 11, they allow(even encourage) you to stick around, use the facilities, borrow a bike, relax and enjoy. BLUF, it’s a really adorable, very well run place that clearly, from start to finish, places a high value on customer service. I will absolutely be back and highly recommend you check it out if you’re looking for a place to stay in Virginia Beach — there’s no way you’ll be disappointed!

Just returned from a four day stay at the Belvedere. The staff is extremely friendly and seem genuinely interested in making sure your stay is a good one. The rooms are clean. Of course the motel is a bit dated, the bathrooms are very small, and the noise from your neighbors can carry through the adjoining doors, but it was easy to overlook these things as we spent 14 hours a day shuttling between the beach and pool. We only used the room to sleep in! The wall mounted flat screen TV’s are too small, but again, we weren’t there to watch TV. Any issues you have with the hotel will likely vanish when you wake up and open the sun blocking dark drapes… and see the lovely beach beckoning you to come out for a long day of fun in the sun. The free bikes are a huge plus and their beach chair/umbrella rentals are reasonable. I will definitely consider the Belvedere again for any future visits.

My family stayed here while visiting this week and I have to say this hotel is a gem among the other monstrosities at the oceanfront. The place is small and cozy, nothing fancy, but what made the stay was the staff. Every single person that works there is above and beyond helpful and friendly! They let me park my car at the hotel while visiting my family all week and any question we had was met with kindness and accommodation. All the rooms have an ocean view, and although small, they are clean and well kept. We migrated from beach to pool to beach all day, used the complimentary bikes to explore the boardwalk and ate in the quaint and delicious diner daily. There is nothing you can get at one of the big hotels that isn’t offered here, and they exceed every competitor at customer service. I live in the area, and my experience at the Belvedere this week made me remember why Virginia Beach can be such a great place to relax and hang out. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting – you will keep coming back year after year!
