The Maxx Salon

I called this morning to see if they had any openings and they had one at 9am. So, same day appointment was convenient. I went in with a mess of damaged hair that I had tried my best to save. Unfortunately, there was no saving it. So, Sandy performed magic on my hair with an awesome cut, blow dry, and style. I have family pictures tomorrow and am no longer afraid I’ll look awful. I don’t even need to do anything to my hair now except brush it in the morning. I am so pleased and will definitely be going back to this salon for cuts. I also am excited to make a nail appointment there. I’m so glad they are by my house, too.

So I’m using Tracy as a stylist now. Really great. I switched mainly due to scheduling conflicts with the previous hair stylist (Kimmie) but Kimmie is good as well so I recommend both. I have to say it’s a convenient location, good price and they have very talented stylists working there in both terms of cuts and coloring. I recently got my hair colored in an ombré style and I’m very pleased with how it turned out. Definitely recommend this salon.

Kim is my new girl. And man did I need one. I finally realized that booth rental is the way to go. You might be able to find a good stylist working for someone else but the odds that they’re going to be there for any length of time are not good especially in a transient military town. Kim and her sister own Maxx and relocated to Landsdown shopping center recently. I wish they were closer to Shore Drive but after mediocre experiences at Amici salon and previously going to Gentlemans headquarters which is right beside maxx I have no problem taking the drive for a quality Haircut.

ERIKA is the shit! there is absolutely no other stylist that I have been to between North Carolina and New York that is as wonderfully gifted as this woman!!! She can do ANY type of hair!!! I have been coming to this talented woman for 15 years now! And I will follow her to the ends of the earth!!! She has done the best cuts and styles, I get loads of compliments on my hair everywhere I go and I have very thin baby fine hair and she makes it so workable and beautiful!!! She has done countless updos for me for special events and weddings… she drove all the way to Sand Bridge for my wedding and actually stayed longer and helped correct some of the other girls hair after they had already come back from the salon! She travels all over to maintain trends and styles of current hairstyles… and get this: «she does it because she loves it»!!! LOVE HER!

Kimmie is great. She cut my hair great and offered (and I accepted) to trim more because I wanted it slightly shorter, and offered the opportunity to come back within the next few days if I wanted it even shorter.

It’s a travesty how hard it is for me to get a decent — not even good, just DECENT — haircut in Virginia Beach. Every time Kimi gives me a great cut, I don’t schedule a follow up and find myself foolishly trusting someone else when I’m pressed for time.
GHQ? Meh. Hair Cuttery? No thanks. Wink? Never. Again. That’s a review all on its own.
Kimi has the business of my wife and our friends and even in her absence she’s able to provide a recommendation for a colleague. I should have listened instead of going anywhere else. Now I’m stuck with a jacked-​up fade, a front piece significantly longer that needs to be styled in discreetly, and the shame of bringing her my mess to fix.
Learn from my failures. Go to Maxx. Only reason I’m leaving off a star is because GHQ has beer. If only they had beer. I’ll cut my losses though. Get it? Cut my… Cause it’s a… You get it.

I’ve never had so much confidence in a hair stylist before. My hair was done by Kimberly aka Kimmy, I’m not sure which name she prefers. The service was fast and friendly. She really took her time to communicate with me what she was going to do before she did it then she did it in no time flat! I almost wasn’t ready to leave by the time it was over. I had fun talking to her and watching her blow dry my hair. She used some special twist and curl technique that no one has ever done on me before. When she was done it looked like I had twice as much hair than when I came in. She really knew how to create body and movement in my hairstyle. I tried to replicate this look at home myself and I just can’t seem to master it.

I live in Norfolk, and I drive here. After several different places and a lot of money paid for haircuts in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. I have never gotten the consistency I needed until I found the MAXX. Now I know I am getting a great haircut every time. I also have started taking my 3 year old daughter there. I am astounded by how well she has responded to the MAXX, specifically Kim. She is incredibly approachable with children and talented!

I love Kim at the Maxx. She does a fabulous job with my hair and her prices are reasonable. The salon always looks great too! :)
