Awesome place, great service and food!!! Can’t think of anything bad about the place besides the hours of operation are a little annoying, but understandable. I will definitely visit at least one more time before I leave Virginia!

This is hands-down our favorite place in Hampton Roads for a delicious traditional Vietnamese meal! Quaint & adorable little place with super fresh ingredients and great prices. We love it all from the shrimp spring rolls, the dumplings are HEAVEN and the entrees are all on point, you can’t go wrong here! Tonight we shared round beef phở, bun with pork & broken rice with beef(between the two of us!) Vietnam Garden is a must for locals looking for a quiet & wonderful Vietnamese meal.

Yum!!! This place is a hidden gem. Phở 79 in hilltop does not have great phở so I was very happy to find this place. The phở is very flavorful and delicious. I also ordered the duck which was great I loved the dipping sauce. The service was great and everything tasted delicious and fresh — soft spring rolls, dumplings as appetizers were perfect.

The obvious Vietnamese restaurants in the area begin with Phở. I was interested in trying something new and was willing to drive a little off my beaten path. Here comes Vietnam Garden, a place I’ve driven by hundreds of times and never knew it even existed(next to Scotty Quixx on VB Blvd). It’s a small restaurant. Nothing too fancy. Dim, date-like, sort of lights. Pricing seemed to be a bit lower than other Vietnamese restaurants I’ve visited. Portions seem to be proportionally smaller with price compared to their competition(not a bad thing). Appetizer: 1) spring roll with peanut sauce — soft and fresh, thumbs up 2) chicken wings — these tasted like the ones that are cooked in a home. No unnecessary breading that made you full. Main entrée: grilled pork served with a side of rice and salad. My pork was tender and tasty. The salad was just as good and I mixed each bite of pork and rice with it. Top tip: Ask for a small bowl of peanuts and cover your rice with it. Mix with different sauces as you take bite after bite. You’ll enjoy this already delicious meal even more. Staff, although just two serving everyone, was very attentive to everyone and friendly. Two dinners, spring rolls, and wings and we were right at $ 35. I was very pleased with the entire experience. 4.5 stars!

We were in town to run a race. Our go-to pre-race dinner is phở. A quick search on Unilocal led us here. The restaurant is nice inside. We ordered summer rolls and phở. While the service was pleasant, the food came out really slow. Our typical Vietnamese dining experience is that rolls come out immediately and phở is pretty quick too. The rolls took forever to come out. It was good. But the peanut dipping sauce was weird like it was straight up hoisin sauce not peanut sauce. Phở was so so too. Not the best experience.

Best Phở in the area; fresh ingredients. Only place that has the Vietnamese crêpe.

I went about a week ago with my girlfriend. We ordered spring rolls and egg rolls as starters and the bun with thin grilled pork on top, and a curry over rice as the main courses. The food was delicious, and the employees were very nice and attentive. The owner even came by and chatted for a little while. I look foward to going back very soon! Check them out :)

I will start with saying this place is in a crappy parking lot. The entrance is a ridiculous incline that scrapes your car and the lot is full of pot holes and trucks at the nearby bar. The entrance is small and you don’t realize it’s a gem and you see the nice décor. Someone watched HGTV cause they have these excellent illusion of windows(art) on the wall and pretty sparkly table tops. Our waiter wasn’t the best, the other waitress was much better. I tried a dish called broken rice which came out with a good salad on the side and grilled pork. I had ordered the ‘shredded pork’ but was told that’s pork skin(they should put that). I liked it, great seasoning, but it was a simple dish. My friend had a fun make your own lettuce wraps thing with shrimp toast and taro eggroll.

Great food. Great service: fairly fast service if you only have a short lunch break and one of the best waiters in Hampton Roads, in my opinion. I keep coming back…

My Mom, brother, and I have been coming to this restaurant for about 15 years and love it! Now that I’ve moved away, I always enjoy coming back to see the familiar faces of those who work there. The menu offers a huge selection and everything that we have had is delicious. We love getting the rice paper wraps, vermicelli noodle bowls, and phở. The service is excellent, some of the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant, even when they’re extremely busy!

The ambience here was divine. The place itself was a bit small but the use of space was genius. The space was modern with traditional flares here and there — I enjoyed seeing that. The waiters are friendly. I ordered the phở special and to be honest, it really wasn’t special. The bowl was lacking beef tendons and meat. There were a few pieces here and there but I felt as if they were skimping out on it. The nonalcoholic drinks menu lacked specialty items and ordinary items like coconut juice and shakes(avocado, durian, etc.). Vietnam Garden didn’t even have the 3 colored jelly dessert that ALL Vietnamese restaurants should have?! I was shocked and disappointed. The choices here are very meager.

Hidden gem in Va Beach! The only thing better than the food was the service! The staff couldn’t have been nicer. Our kids were hesitant to go in but loved it in the end. We ordered egg roll and dumplings to start… Both were delicious. We were served salads next. Beautiful green salad(maybe green leaf lettuce) with a very light peanut/sesame dressing. It was very good. Then for dinner we had phở, two stir fried noodle dishes and a shrimp special. Everything was fresh and delicious. Next time we are looking for Phở we are coming back here! Quiet, delicious and great service!

Hands down BEST Vietnamese Cuisine in Hampton Roads! ALWAYSSOSOSOFRESH!!! I LOVE the fried egg rolls and I get the chicken Phở with no bean sprouts and white onion. And when I’m trying to be GOOD I order the BEST salad I’ve ever had«Grilled chicken on a salad with no bean sprout»!!! I receive a bountiful amount of lettuce and the ginger dressing they use is so lovely!!!

I absolutely love this place, I’ve eaten at many phở places but hands down this is my favorite? I love their chicken phở it’s very fresh and the broth is so delicious. Now let’s talk about their delicious Rice Rolls omg their so good they melt in your mouth with that delicious peanut sauce with the little flecks of peanuts it’s the perfect combination I’ve tried other rice rolls at other places and they don’t even compare to this place not even their peanut sauce . I also have tried other menu items like they have delicious dumplings and a fun dish that you can wrap your self that is absolutely delicious as well and it in tells rice wraps vegetables steak chicken and sauce. Every time I eat here I’m never disappointed and neither are my friends that I newly introduce give this hidden little gem a try you won’t be disappointed

I’ve been going here for years with my family and no other place in the 757 tops it! We are always greeted upon entry and Daniel knows our orders by heart! They are very friendly and quick with service. We never have to wait long for our food no matter how crowded the place is. I have even ordered for take out and it still only takes them about 10 mins to have my order ready. Everything I have tried(spring rolls, phở, dumplings, salad, beef w/onions) has always been good!

I have been going to this little place when it was even smaller. The owner would welcome, seat, take the order and cook it! The food has always been really yummy! After being away for many years, I am happy to find this gem still open, thriving and delicious! This is a great little place for some authentic Vietnamese delights. Nice setting, good service and reasonable. Put this on your list!

After eating here today for the third time this year, I decided it was time to write a review. First, I will describe the appetizers: GOICUON(Menu Item #5) — «Soft rice paper garden rolls with shrimp pork, aromatic herbs, and peanut sweet potato dipping.» I enjoyed this during of my first two visits. Listed as spring rolls on the menus of many other Vietnamese restaurants, these are a little different than most of the others I have tried. They also rank among the best. What stands out as unique about them is their concentration of green herbs. They exhibit a stunning visual appeal, so much so that their greenery catches the eye through their rice paper coverings, even while being served several feet away. This was the case today while several members of a large dining party ordered them at a good distance from where I was sitting. They are wrapped nice and tightly, resulting in a delightful and refreshing crunch while biting into them. Their fillings, with the greens playing the starring role, were fresh and delicious. The dipping sauce, described as a combination of a peanut and a sweet potato base, was intriguing and flavorful. XUICAO(Menu Item # 11) — «Steamed chicken, shrimp, and mushroom dumplings.» This was the appetizer I enjoyed today for my third visit. I knew I had to try this when I saw a young lady eating them as I was leaving for my second visit a few weeks ago. They were a sight to behold. Indeed, they were as tender and delicious at they looked, and I was tempted to place another order. However, I had to make room for my Phở which was on its way. PHODACBIET(Menu Item #22) -«With assorted beef.» This was the second and final course of the meal I enjoyed today. When I placed my order, the waiter asked me if there were any particular cuts of beef that I wanted to be left out. I told him to bring it all on. As it turned out, I was not disappointed. The broth was rich and complex, accentuated by the different levels of flavor provided by the assorted cuts of beef. This was probably the second best Beef Phở soup I have tried in this area. The best, in my opinion, was served at Phở Hung Speedy Gonzalez, located on Tidewater Drive in Norfolk. Unfortunately, they closed in January of this year. PHOGA(Menu Item #26) — «With strips of chicken.» I ordered this during both of my first two visits. Phở Ga is my main«go to» Phở dish whenever I order it. The broth was deep and flavorful during both of my visits and exhibited a nice homemade flavor.
My only criticism is that the bean sprouts were added to the soup instead of served on a separate plate of condiments. I never add my bean sprouts to my Phở. Instead, I like to munch on them separately, in much the same way I like to much on my tortilla chips at a Mexican restaurant. One peculiarity I noted on the menu is that a separate dish of condiments is only served with three out their seven Phở dishes. Accordingly, a dish of bean sprouts, Thai basil, and jalapeño slices were served with the Phở Dac Biet I ordered today, but not with the Phở Ga I ordered during my first two visits. I do not know the reason for this, and I did not bother to ask. As the weather gets progressively hotter this summer, I will probably take a break from the Phở and try a few other of their Vietnamese specialties. I overheard one diner, who was a regular customer, order menu item #56, which is their Crispy Maple Leaf Duck, and which sounds very tempting. Another item I want to try is item #50, which is their Ca Chien Vietnam, described as «Deep fried catfish Vietnamese style with peanut and Vietnamese dressing.» A significant number of Asian diners were present during each of my three visits. In fact, the owner of the Peking Duck Inn, one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Virginia Beach, was also eating there today. In summary, the flavors of the dishes I have tried here so far have come through with a lot of tender loving care. As a result, the Vietnam Garden restaurant now ranks in my book as one of the better Vietnamese restaurants in the area.

My co-workers enjoy coming here for lunch, but personally, I prefer Phở 79 than Vietnam Garden. The food is fine with me, the portions are the perfect size, and the prices are good for what you get. I’ve tried their phở, vermicelli, and pancakes. None of it was memorable. The bun bo nuong, my favorite Vietnamese dish, was lacking in flavor and was slightly watery. The bowls that they use are too small for the dish itself. I often find bits and pieces of my food all over the table because I can’t contain it within the dish. Makes me feel like a messy eater! Service is prompt and I don’t usually have to wait. However, the waiter that works there all the time needs to liven up a bit! He doesn’t seem interested in his customers and seems upset all the time.

Good broth, plentiful portion for a medium sized phở. Enjoyed the pan fried dumplings. Had better steamed dumplings. Preferred the sauce in a bowl instead of having the dumplings sitting in the sauce.

I’m writing this after my second visit. The first time was during winter; it was cold outside and was a perfect phở day. It was outstanding! Great broth, generous with the ingredients, good value. The second time was summer; it was hot outside and was a perfect bun day. I love bun in the summertime. Such great flavors together in a cool, refreshing meal! I ordered the grilled pork bun with an amazing tarot root spring roll. From the outside, Vietnam Garden is just another business in a strip mall, but inside they’ve decorated nicely and it’s quite a relaxing vibe. The service was friendly and fast, and the pricing was very reasonable. I know I’ll be back!
