My wife and I stayed in the Edith Palmer room for three nights and let me tell you, what a GREAT experience! The Inn staff is amazing and friendly. The room was well decorated, had plenty of charm, and was well cleaned. The food served each morning for breakfast was delicious and a perfect way to start the day! My wife and I frequently will stay in older bed and breakfasts and older hotels, but this is by far the best we’ve stayed at! The owners are an amazingly friendly and helpful husband/wife team. We will be recommending this place to anyone who visits Virginia City and we will most definitely return!

The inn consists for four small houses in a row, with one or two more that might at some point also be renovated to provide additional rooms. We stayed in the Silver Street House, which I’d strongly recommend. This house, in contrast to the others, is only a few years old, but has been built to look vintage. You get the«old house» feel but with new plumbing, wiring, windows, etc.(The other houses may be fine as well. Based on the parts of the property we saw, I’d bet that they are.) The care and attention to detail by the owners is evident in the decorating touches, including embossed wallpaper that mimics old-time tin ceilings and the ceiling fan medallion(see photo). Furnishings are either antiques or modern furniture with an antique look. We stayed in the William O’Brien Room, which we’d also recommend. It’s on the second floor so you have more privacy, and at that height you can look over the street and down a long canyon.(The street, by the way, along with many others in Virginia City, has just been resurfaced.) All of the houses that make up the inn are at the south end of B street, pretty much all by themselves, so the area is very quiet, yet withing walking distance of the downtown area.

The inn is located a street above the main street. It is very quaint and quiet; the perfect place to relax and enjoy the view and wildlife. A pair of quail were exploring the property during our stay. There are also courtyards between each of the houses where you can sit in the shade and unwind with a book or just bask with nature. We stayed in the Silver Street House, built at the turn of the century. It contains four rooms named after the four Irish miners who became known as the Silver Kings of the Comstock. Our room, William O’Brien, had the famous«One Hundred Mile View» down 6-Mile Canyon to Carson Plains and beyond. The room was equipped with a queen bed, old fashioned make-up table(I used it as a makeshift desk for my laptop), ceiling fan, window air conditioning unit, full bathroom, and small flat screen TV. As the morning sun broke through from the east, a quiet and beautiful day was just about to start. After a restful sleep, I wrestled with my mind to get up. Up on B Street, the town was so quiet and serene with a beautiful view of the valley and surrounding mountains. A lizard greeted us at the front of the Silver Street House while he was basking in the morning rays. I think he wanted us to take a picture as he posed for the camera. Edith Palmer’s Country Inn provides a home-cooked breakfast to order. Breakfast is served in the Cider Factory which was originally established in 1863. There is seating inside and outside in the courtyard. It was such a cool and beautiful morning, we decided to enjoy our breakfast outside under the shade of a tree. A plated breakfast of pancakes topped with chunky raspberry syrup and whipped cream, bacon, and scrambled eggs were served along with coffee and choice of juice. The pancakes were fluffy and tasted like homemade. The syrup and whipped cream gave it a slight sweetness. The bacon was perfectly cooked with a smoky, salty flavor. The scrambled eggs were a bright yellow and fluffy.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights, and rung in the New Year in town. We loved the inn! Our room, Maggie Belle, was extremely charming, comfortable and had a lovely, old west feel(including the replica gas lantern, which is thankfully not gaslit, the antique armoire, the antique velveteen settee, and beautiful replica brass bed) and the shower/tub was good and hot! Don’t get me started on the breakfast! It was delicious! Leisa, a co-owner, makes it, and has invented some tasty recipes that she adds to traditional, comfort, breakfast foods. The inn itself is adorable, and very much period appropriate. We can’t wait to return!

The Inn is outstanding with very clean comfortable rooms and and awesome staff! The Cider Factory Restaurant at the Inn is absolutely outstanding! The Chef Richard Oates presents his dish which is pleasing to see but the food surpasses anything you could ever imagine. The Mid-evil Duck you will never be able to find as wonderful as his!!! The rib eye steak done to perfection! You can’t go wrong with the Inn or the restaurant!

Excellent! My wife and I had toured the Edith Palmer’s Country Inn last year and fell in love with it’s country charm. We were fortunate enough to get a room just before the Fourth of July. Beautiful period decoration, comfortable bed, super quiet and spotless. It was great to be able to just stroll out of our room and down to Main street where the entire town had been decorated for Independence day. We have found that it is always best to stay/eat at a place where the owners are present. Edith Palmer’s was no exception. Leisa, Pat and Michael were friendly and went out of their way to answer questions about the town and events, even taking time to show us their antique parlor organs when I enquired. We can’t wait to return. We’re planning another trip in winter when there is a dusting of snow on the ground and the surrounding hills. I would absolutely recommend Edith Palmer’s Country Inn and the nearby«Core» restaurant at the Cider Factory.

My husband and I stayed here one Saturday night, and we loved it. Our room was small but beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. The gardens are lovely, and it was very quiet at night. Breakfast in the morning was cooked to order and absolutely delicious. We ate it outside in the sunshine, which is a great way to start the day. I’d definitely recommend Edith Palmer’s Country Inn if you’re going to stay in Virginia City!
