The food was good, but the drinks were $ 8.50 and didn’t even taste the alcohol. Definitely an overcharge for alcohol since it tasted like a virgin margarita. Also hands down the worst service I’ve ever had. Couldn’t even refill our waters and didn’t check on us once. Took 20 mins to get our check after we were done eating. I will not be returning.

I have eaten here three times and all three times the food was good and got good service. Recently I tried their micheladas and they were good as well! I will continue coming here :)

I do enjoy coming here when I’m in town. I’ve been here about 4 times and every time I’ve had outstanding service and the food was great. Bacon wrapped shrimp is divine. Fried fish is pleasant. Carnitas were flavorful. A little on the pricey side though. Couldn’t order a few items without fear of having to use first born’s blood as payment. Lol

I’ve been coming here for years. My faves are the Fish with the tomatillo sauce, the flautas chicken/beef, and the bacon wrapped shrimp. Last few times we have went, the wait time for a menu, a drink, food, even an Acknowledgment, has been exceptionally long! My dad literally left after waiting so long. The bartender who has been there for years, was having possibly a bad day when we went? We were there for a few hours, having a few drinks munching on the yummy chips& salsa… I ordered the fish to go, when i went home to eat… I received the Octopus dish instead. Now after spending well over $ 100, i was a tad furious. After calling, they threw me on the phone with Mr. Bartender who kept arguing, insisting i ordered the 6 armed creature!.. he ended hanging up on me. After speaking with the kind manager, i received my $ 20 back for that one meal. I was hungry…, all Mr. bartender had to do was make everything right, by just exchanging the meal for the right one and not argue with the customer. Is that so hard? SOO disappointed. This WAS one of my favorite places to dine.

I love coming downtown on my days off and just sitting outside relaxing and having a glass of wine and then dinner which is always awesome the service is probably one of the best in town I love this place

Very expensive for the average quality food. Won’t be going back.

I want to start off by saying I highly recommend not eating here… So after coming here two times, both for family get togethers, I just had to give this place a review. The first experience our table had gotten our food but they had forgot one plate, so they had to make that and it took like 15 mins. The second time was the worst experience. I had ordered a drink and did not get it till we got our food. I told the waiter I did not want it anymore and he insisted that I take the drink because the bartender had already made it. I ended up taking the drink thinking the alcohol would help me calm down. I had also asked the waiter to bring my grandma a side refill because hers was full of ice and it was mostly watered down by the time we got the food. He said that the drink was full and ninjas to explain to him that it was all watered down and to just bring me a new drink. I could go on and on about the crap we had to deal with. Over all terrible service, rude staff. I got to say it again. I highly recommend not eating at this restaurant

I had low expectations going into this place for breakfast, but I was actually surprised by the quality of the food. The potatoes were real red potatoes and the portions were great, and what I mean by that is they were not over sized. Anyway I think I found a new Saturday morning Mexican breakfast spot. The Bloody Mary was decent also

Had a drink here… Cadillac Margarita… I was planning on having many more… but it was horrendously weak. I truly think they forgot the tequila. The salsa was superb. Had a great flavor… bold, but balanced… Spicy and garlicky with nice citrus in the background. Our waitress was pretty nice. No complaints about her. Just a really bad bartender.

The weakest margarita I have ever tasted. I am very upset that I paid $ 8.50 for blended mango juice, sugar, and ice. I am a lightweight and am 100% positive there was no tequila in my drink. I voiced this complaint to the waitress, who said that the bartenders make the drinks, not her, so there was nothing she could do. Very disappointing. I give two stars because the salsa was excellent. Perfect spice level.

El Tarasco is a really good restaurant, if you can catch them when they’re open. They have a bad habit of closing 30−45min earlier than their posted hours, even on weekends. That said, all the food I’ve had here had been good to great. The best are their tacos, which are huge and served on housemade corn tortillas. The sopes/puffy tacos are also fantastic, and they have some things I don’t see on many Mexican menus, like enfrijoladas. I recommend trying them for lunch.

If you want really good Mexican food then this is the place to go. The fish tacos are to die for! Great food, service, and cocktails. You can’t go wrong with any dish you choose, they are all delicious!

Ok Mexican food. Everyone at our table had the same experience. Food was ok, but definitely not wonderful. I had the cheese enchiladas. Ok, maybe a 7⁄10. My friend had chili rellenos. He gave them a 6⁄10. Nice location downtown, close to the orange ice cream place so that’s good. Otherwise, nothing special or unique.

Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in town!!! Everything is really good and the carnitas are so juicy and fresh cause they are made daily :)

We have eaten at this restaurant about five times over the last two years. The salsa is very good. We usually get the Chicken Mole, which has never been a disappointment. This time we branched out on the menu. Cheese enchiladas with refried beans and then an off the menu order of pinto beans, sliced avocado, flour tortillas. Both of the orders were excellent. The cheese enchiladas were just right, not overwhelmed with cheese. The refried beans were delicious. The avocado was fresh, the corn tortillas were homemade and the pinto beans were perfectly cooked and very tasty. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. She brought us extra salsa and made sure that all of our needs were met. The only reason for not getting a five star rating is that the restaurant was loud. There were several groups having dinner and drinking. They got a little out of hand and ruined the experience for other people who just wanted to have a nice conversation without having to yell over them. We will definitely return. However, we will probably try to get there a little earlier, around 5PM, to avoid the later dinner hour chaos.

This was my second attempt at finding good Mexican food in Visalia. We were hungry after a day in Sequoia. The Tarasco Special Dinner was huge — so much food that I had to order more tortillas, onion, and cilantro. Little did I know that they charge 2 bucks extra for more tortillas and 75 cents EACH for a small container of cilantro and onion. This is unheard of… until now apparently. I wish the waitress mentioned the added charge when I ordered instead of getting surprised with the bill. Anyway, she was nice and friendly so I decided not to mention it, but maybe this place will make it clearer for future diners. The Tarasco Water was really strong. Great to unwind after a day of hiking. Just make sure you’re not the driver! Overall a nice place to have a good solid meal, bring your appetite and if you order the Special Dinner best to bring a friend or two to help you finish.

I ordered a simple lunch and it was ok, nothing notable to it. It was plain and decent enough to suppress my hunger after a meeting all morning working on financial records. Their shredded beef soft taco and chicken enchilada with rice and beans for about $ 8 was ehhh so I drenched it with their side salsa. At least the inside environment was clean with the Spanish décor and music. The waiter was good. I went there just to eat, not really to experience or expect any awe.

Came here for breakfast and it was BOMB! I had the Chile verde eggs and I loved it. It came with two eggs over easy with beans and potatoes smothered with green Chile and I also got a side of bacon. I loved everything. I wish I could’ve finished my plate it was that good. I also had a michelada which was salty, sour and spicy, everything g a good michelada should be. It is also veery affordable. I will definitely be back!
