Was visiting my sisters-in-law in Farmersville and wanted to take them to lunch, somewhere new. So my trusty Unilocal suggested Salathai when I searched for Thai food. Located right by the Oval, we got confused as they seem to have a satellite quick-pick-up restaurant across the street. So we found them and sat down for lunch. I had the green curry pork, SILs had the Kung Pao chicken, hubby had some other type of chicken and pad thai. The owner asked where we were from and we told him Fresno. «My food better than Fresno food» he told us several times. We then began a spirited guessing game of my nationality«Hmong? Vietnamese? Hawaiian? Chinese? Filipino? Mexican? Cambodian?» I told him he named just about every Asian nationality but my own, Japanese. And his food, just as good as Fresno:)

I’m originally from Washington D. C and I wanted to try Phở for the first time. We decided to give this small place a try and let me tell you this restaurant did not disappoint! We were looking for authentic food and this place has it! The waiter, Arich, provided us with great service and a good laugh with all his jokes. He walked me step by step on how to prepare my Phở. I recommend the Combination Phở and my friends highly recommend the orange chicken. Not to mention the boba was delicious.

This is where I get my favorite Thai food in Visalia! I love everything I eat here. Last night we had Panang chicken, Red Curry, Pad Thai as well as other dishes that were delicious. I eat gf so I didn’t eat the egg rolls but everyone else did and loved them! This family is very sweet and hospitable and we always have a great time. The restaurant itself doesn’t have the atmosphere of other places in town but the food is amazing.

Food reminds us of a traditional home cooked meal. Not to our taste. We had the pad thai chicken and pad see ew. Owner was very friendly, perhaps too friendly. I would recommend going to Keothip or Davorn’s. :)

Wow! This is like an amazing find. We were on our way home to LA after a great weekend in Sequoia National Park. We stopped to grab a late lunch. A little gal around 10 years old took our order; she was very pleasant and helpful! It’s seems like a small family owned business. The food was amazing. The food ingredients were very authentic and the food was amazing!!! I couldn’t finish my food and was sad that I couldn’t take it to go since home was still miles away. I’ll be back though; we visit the National Parks a couple of times a year. The food was truly amazing(and we eat a ton of Thai food back in LA and this supersedes all the Thai food we ever had!).

They have moved around and I have followed. If you want fresh authentic Thai food this is the place. There pad Thai is the best I have ever tasted. They make the most amazing eggrolls, they have to be my favorite.

This is a review for the sit-down restaurant. The first time I was here I had the Keo-Meo noodles and it was good. But the second time I had the pad Thai and I didn’t like it at all. I also ordered the papaya salad and it had too much fish sauce. I won’t be back sorry. Davorn has better Thai food. It’s also too pricey. Owner is nice though.

First time here. My boyfriend liked the Thai Arnold Palmer a lot. We had the spring rolls with creamy peanut sauce & loved them. We ordered a variety of dishes like the pad Thai & Basil chicken. The pork pad lard nar was ok until we squeezed lime over it & then it was. 10!

Went in the other week after searching up Lao food places in visalia. I love trying overlooked spots because they are usually a little gem of a place, and this was no exception. I ordered khao poon, papaya salad and sticky rice and it was all delicious! I like my khao poon with darker chicken meat, like leg meat, that is more tender and shredded as opposed to the breast. Also, kinda wish they put some sort of veggies in it like bamboo shoots and mushrooms. The flavor was a little off for me, like it needed more red curry paste or something. It was still delicious, though! I will definitely be going back and seeing what else they can do.

Had to try it since it had 5 stars. No menu, although Pad Tai was good. The sketchy people walking around made me a bit uneasy. Will not go back again.

We’ve had every Thai place in town multiple times. Great prices, huge portions, and most importantly, the good is delicious. Take the advice of everyone else and get the red currie, you’ll be happy you did.

Reasonably priced, authentic, delicious Thai/Lao food. The owner is extremely friendly. It is take out only unless you want to sit on the outdoor picnic tables.

Dont let the exterior scare you away, this place is fresh and amazing. It feels like im eating a home cooked meal rather than restaurant food. There eggrolls are the best I have tasted in my life! These are very friendly people who have gotten a lilltle bad luck, there were building a restaurant on mooney but was burned down by someone. Trying to continue with there restaurant they open back up in these shacks in the oval. The oval may look scary but I have been going there many times with no problems. I highly recommended this place!!!

Sure they aren’t always open, and the area leaves something to be desired, and stray dogs might greet you while you are waiting… but it still deserves five stars because this is the best Thai food ever. I love their pad thai and their curries(you get about a quart). If you get their number you can call ahead and order when they open and drive over to pick it up. So delicious.

Salathai gets 5 stars, but don’t go into this expecting«fine dining». Let me explain: This is a walk-up restaurant(order and pay at the window, go sit at a shaded picnic table and wait, they’ll call you), on the north side of The Oval. There’s plenty of parking on the street and table space is not a problem. When I was a kid 25 yrs ago, the oval was considered a dangerous area, at least by my honky parents who would come to the same spot to frequent a taqueria and make me wait in the car! Nowadays, I’m not really sure. Its obviously a working class neighborhood and homeless people do seek out the park for shade and whatnot, but that doesn’t make it a bad place. We were there on a weekday afternoon and had a nice time. Anyhow, the food… Walk up to window, order, sit down. About 20 min later get food, eat. Yes, it’s not fast food. You can watch the couple cook it through the window if you want. Other than a few grab and go items under a heater, everything is made to order! It tastes deliciously homemade too. I had the red curry(a quart of red curry, literally, and the big styrofoam take-away box FULL of rice for $ 9) and I loved that it had zucchini and potatoes in it as well as the more traditional veggies! I’m a big fan of cooking with seasonal produce. Husband had pad Thai, the same size box as the rice full of pad Thai. Kick a** egg rolls, yum! I’m currently eating my 3rd meal from this visit and I’m only halfway through the curry and I will never finish that rice. In conclusion, I’ve been to 4(so far) Thai places in V-town and Salathai is by FAR the least expensive, with the most gluttonous portions. It is also tied for my fave Thai flavor in town. Oh! The Thai tea is pretty good here, but unless you want to spend the next week on the treadmill, do not order the large! Its a quart! For $ 3! Go now!
