I’ll keep it short and sweet: The pros — slightly better than average food, huge beer selection, reasonable prices, friendly and attractive wait staff The cons — I don’t necessarily want to hear a guy playing acoustic guitar during dinner, their house beers are average at best, neither my girlfriend nor I really loved our meals, the neighborhood is heavily patrolled by police and there are signs in business windows saying those wearing gang attire will not be allowed in. It didn’t make me feel especially safe. Overall — I have only been to Visalia for one weekend, so I don’t have a lot of experience with all the places to eat and drink there, but if your primary interest is craft beer, you can safely skip Sequoia.

Everywhere I go, I always try to find a local brewery to have a taste of how each location brews their beers. I was in Sequoia National Park prior to coming to Sequoia Brewing Company and to be honest, the reviews kinda made me not really want to stop by. But I figured, wth, when will I be back here? I’ll just grab a few brews, how bad can it be right? So everything changed when I actually arrived at this place, they told us it was their anniversary so they had a $ 12 steak special with 1 side. Sounds awesome to me! Let’s see how it’ll taste when it comes out. It was juicy and cooked to perfection(I ordered medium rare). The garlic fries were good as well(add $ 1), just how I like them. I also got a beer flight of 6. Most of the times I would just pick out the ones I like and give my +1 whichever I don’t like but all of the beers I picked, I liked them all! So I ended up drinking most of it. All in all, I think this place gets a bad rep. I would definitely come back here again and the service was good.

I was definitely nervous about coming here after some of the sketchy reviews but we were coming back from hiking and didn’t want to wait any longer for food! So no time to thoroughly research options on Unilocal!I can only speak for the burgers and salads… they were great! We asked for cheese substitutions and the burgers to be cooked medium well(I know what you’re thinking). Everything was really good. Beers were half off during happy hour, and we just happened to be there on a Tuesday so kids ate free! Are you kidding? We felt like we won something :) I would definitely recommend coming here.

I’ve given this place three tries and all three times, I’ve left dissatisfied. I will not be back for a fourth time. Food is awful. Burger over cooked and cold fries.

The service was great, the beer was great, and the food was okay. I would definitely stop by again if I were ever in the area. They had a pretty big variety of beer and everything I tried was very good(I got the flight with 8 beers). Definitely worth a visit

All you can eat ribs Wednesday nights only $ 15.99! I’m IN! We came across this place while discovering Downtown Visalia. When I saw Brewing Company after spending all day in the magical forest of The Sequoia National Park I had to stop. I am glad we did! Great local bear selection and local food as well, seeing that we were in the heart of America’s bread basket. After browsing the menu to see if we had something available for all the family’s dietary preferences we decided to stay. Great atmosphere and décor throughout the space. The branding is done very well. The restaurant is also family friendly. We started with the fired green beans which were amazing. The tempura batter was done very well and the beans were so large and fresh. The flavor and sweetness of the beans with the well seasoned batter and perfect crispiness was a great first impression. The portion we had was good for 4 people and I was disappointed the kids did not give them a try. I selected the Wednesday special of All You Can Eat Ribs for $ 15.99. The rest of the menu had a great variety with reasonable prices and while gazing at other plates, large portions. Sandwiches, burgers, salads, pastas, and beer all looked delicious. The motto here is «Eat and Drink Local». The ribs were delivered quickly along with the rest of the food. They were described as” fall of the bone tender” which they were I just prefer a little more tender. Don’t get me wrong they were very good. A spicier sauce could also be an option to offer, but the menu is so complex as it is. Ribs were served with a generous portion of mixed steamed veggies including broccoli, carrots, and zucchini which needed no sauce or extra seasoning so that they can highlight their own flavor and freshness. Awesome! Also on the side were ranchero beans, very flavorful with a hint of jalapeño and onion to give them a kick. Too bad these were not all you can eat also. My first round of Ribs was served with 3 beef ribs. The server was very good. I wish I could remember his name. He made frequent stops by the table and let me know he had more ribs being prepped for me. We also had the Veggie Pasta which had a pesto sauce with broccoli, zucchini, and tomato. Very refreshing dish which was light but also a very filling and large portion. Definitely getting what you pay for here. To refresh my pallate went with the General Sherman IPA since I just spent the majority of my day seeking the World’s Largest Tree it seemed a fitting honor of this great specimen of foliage. The Beer was a great Hoppy IPA that I always seek. If I did not choose the«All You Can Eat Ribs» I am sure I would have enjoyed several more. Great Experience Overall, I wish I did not live 400 miles away. Maybe I should start looking at some real estate in Visalia just to be a regular at Sequoia Brewing Company. Our service was very attentive and the food portions worth the price.

The service was hit and miss the two times my wife and I have gone here. First time our waiter was brilliant! His personality was upbeat, he was patient and even made some suggestions on the menu and beer selection. He had a witty banter that meshed well with us and made us feel comfortable. Second time we went with my brother and sister in law. We came and the wait staff just ignored the fact that people had entered the building until we had to approach right up to the counter to get a look of «what? Can I help you?» Her attitude changed a bit after that but it wasn’t like our first waiter. But to somewhat justify it but not really. The first time we went it was I’m the evening when it was booming, the second time was during the day around noon. Food: wonderful! Try the mozz sticks! They’re amazing! Handmade cheesy deliciousness! Oh and the burgers! Cooked to your liking and given on a plate with your choice of side. It’s a no holds bar, no game kind of burger! It’s meat and delicious meat at that! Paired up with a nice beer and you’ve got yourself a good hearty meal! Come here just for the brew and the burgers. You won’t go wrong trust me!

Solid craft beer and good service. I came here with a group, we were in town for a business meeting. Last call came around and I was like«Wow, how late is it?» Because I was thinking the time really flew by. Sadly it was like 10 minutes to 9. Ouch. Oh well. Small town blues :-) I will update my review later with UnTappd ratings from my flight…

I had my first visit here last week and it was great. At first my husband and I were very hesitate to go in with our three kids. They’re so little and the downtown atmosphere isn’t really for them. But our waiter was amazing. It’s very hard to come by a nice waiter or waitress who ensures you at least have refills. He was patient, sweet, and very calm with the kids. Our food came out fast. And it tasted great. We will definitely make another visit.

Went here for lunch on my husband’s birthday. I loved the Irish stout and he got a flight so we tried 6 of their beers. We really enjoyed the mozzarella sticks, garlic fries and calamari. Service was great considering we rolled in eight deep and three were children.

Been wanting to give this place a try for a while and heard from friends it was pretty good. We were seated pretty quickly and greeted by our server fast. Tried a chicken sandwich and my partner had a steak sandwich. We also shared an appetizer of potato skins. The food was pretty good as well as the appetizer. Decided to have a couple of beers and they were not bad. The food came out fast and our server was very attentive. I would eat here again.

I had a flight of their beers and the lady had a few white sangria drinks, but were delicious. I was watching as the food was heading to the tables, since I was siting next to the kitchen… it looked very greasy and that’s why we chose to go elsewhere for dinner. I would recommend this place for drinks, not so sure about the food though, I wasn’t ready to risk it. Great atmosphere and the service was very friendly though.

How this place gets rave reviews is beyond me. The beer is awful. The word«brewery» is in the name, so you would think they’d get beer right. Nope. Saving grace there is Tioga-Sequioa. And the food is awful. I felt ill after eating. Never ever again. Ever!

My first experience was a lunch at Sequoia Brewing Co. I was in the mood for something different… and I got it. Aside from the excellent selection of top quality local beers [the General Sherman IPA was marvelous] their menu is anything but your typical pub food board of fare. I ordered their Mark Twain Chicken sandwich and I have to say it is the best meal of that kind I can recall having at any restaurant. Though I don’t normally eat pub food as a go-to, I would have no trouble recommending this brew house as a definite lunch spot. The menu isn’t filled with those deep-fried, batter soaked, calorie bombs so prevalent in many places of this type. And the beer… wow! A very nice addition to our downtown area. If you haven’t been there, you need to go.

The local brew selection was great, the food was delicious and the staff were all very friendly. What makes this place exceptional? JAKE, the bartender. His knowledge and passion for his craft is far above and beyond 99.99% of bartenders we know and we go to a lot of breweries and bars. We would come back to SBC even if the food wasn’t as delicious just for the experience of being able to learn so much about the local beers and spirits. My fiancé had the chicken fried steak and he gives it top kudos. He has chicken fried steak whenever it’s available anywhere he goes and lived in the South for almost 5 years. I had the frisco burger and mussels, both delicious. The crust on the burger was perfect, the patty a perfect medium as requested. The broth for the mussels was tasty and had the perfect balance of flavors, garlic, butter, pepper. The mussels were tender and not overcooked as many places do. Pomegranate Ale. Just try it. I would give SBC more stars if I could!

I have consistently had great food, beer & service at this place! Friendly staff, good bartenders. Their steak bites with blue cheese sauce is absolutely delicious. Also, I can’t seem to get away from their Campfire Pasta. 5 stars for consistency!

Determined to try something different for Date Night we were so glad we walked through the door. My Moscow Mule was the best I have had so far, wondering if it was the Grapefruit Juice? Bar service was great so we decided to just have our dinner there. Deep Fried Spring Beans were 5 Star in themselves along with my Fish Tacos. Drinks, service and food were spot on and price was right in line with good value. Can’t wait to go back for Wednesday Rib Nite or Friday Nite Prime Rib.

I like this place. Service is good. Awesome big tree themed beers and drinks. They have a full bar and some good cocktail. Tomato bisque is awesome but the house salad was not fresh at all. I also had grilled zucchinis and sauteed mushroom and they both tasted really good.

STRONG drinks! I had two margaritas here last night and was impressed and pleased with how much liquor was in them. I came here with a group of friends and found the service to be very attentive and friendly. Atmosphere is kinda weird-very sports bar esque and tacky generic décor. I guess this is about as good as Visalia gets though, so maybe I shouldn’t be complaining about anything.

Bottom Line: I would not go back but because this is a new place, I’ll give it some time before I visit again and see if things have improved. For now though I would not recommend it. We came around 7pm for dinner, with a full restaurant the wait time actually wasn’t too bad, maybe 15 minutes at most. Our server was pretty awesome and attentive as well but that’s where the list of positives end. The atmosphere was noisey, about what I would expect for a bar but much too noisey for a restaurant. The food was mediocre at best. A cheap cheese was used on the tacos which have it an unpleasant flavor and the corn tortillas were odd, eggy is the only way I could describe them. My brother got the Cuban which was terrible, the meat had an artificial smoke taste and was dry which the sight bread could not make up for. The Buffalo chicken sandwich was eggy with soggy bread as well. Everything seemed to lack in seasoning and flavor except the sweet potatoes fries which had a pretty decent flavor. Food does not seen to be their strong point. Unfortunately, the beer does not seem to be their strong point either. Each person gets to sample two beers before ordering so after getting a few samples, our table ended up ordering two of the beer samplers. Everything had a skunky aroma and unpleasant lingering taste which was surprising considering their bottled beer is pretty good. The only partal redeeming part was the root beer float which had some really good ice cream in it. The root beer was lukewarm though so it definitely was not as good as it could have been.
